- As international air-travel slowly begins to resume, concerns about COVID-19 aren’t the only thing officials are worrying about. There’s also been a noticeable increase in bird-smuggling using inhumane methods. One traveler was recently caught with 35 birds sewn into the lining of his jacket. Customs and Border Protection specialist Ginger Perone told Inside Edition that she recently seized 60 birds that were hidden inside a suitcase. So why are so many being smuggled into the United States? #InsideEdition
Those bird deserve to stay alive and at their home.
And where is home? Cause earth is their home. Birds tends to travel to different locations to where ever they feel like locating without passports.

Most birds smuggled don't make it. This was news back in 1993 when Zoobooks magazine told kids about it. I was one of those kids. Can't look at birds in cages the same since.

one time when I was in Chicago airport it warned that smuggled birds can carry diseases also I read about a woman who smuggled a baby monkey from Thailand and she and her mom got arrested

My dad used to say that when he lived in Veitnam he trained birds to fly back to him so when he sold birds, and when the customers let the birds out of the cage they would fly back to him. Idk how true this story is but it's funny nonetheless.

I had an exotic bird fly into my house, I trapped it and tried to let it go because I don’t know what to do with it. I just came right back the next day and refused to leave. My dog doesn’t enjoy his company but he’s mine now I guess
Unless you live in Australia or something I think keeping it was best, it might have been a domestic house pet of someone else, It might have died outside :).
Same I found a abandoned cocktiel parrot on the road and he was there for a awhile in the hot sun, never had own a parrot but when I gave him water, he quickly started drinking, I waited for the bird owners to ask for a missing bird but, nothing, so kept the parrot.
It’s probably someone’s pet that got lost. Keep an eye out for missing pet flyers and ads, but you most likely have a new pet.

Back in December of 2019 my parents gave away my bird snowflake, who was a grey and white cockatiel (whitefaced cockatiel) they had asked me if I was okay with them giving him away because at the time I was homeless, of course I said no and by the time I got a place of my own, i have had no idea where he ended up.

I used to have caged birds.I felt guilty. From then on I don't cage my birds. I have doves and fantails,but they aren't caged. They can fly in the morning and they will always come back at the evening. Its better that way.
