The manual mentions that to get the correct power reading you need to use a dummy load (perhaps meaning that if you are using it with the antenna it is not supposed to give correct readings).
This unit sounds very interesting to me and I’m thinking of buying one of them.
Good review
could you help me, how to configure surecon for frequency 462 talkabout 0.5 vats, I'm not getting it. I'm from Brazilian
I have this meter on my base gmrs/ham. I get a 1.0 reading on 5 watts, but if I switch to 15 or 25 watts, it goes up to 1.9. Is this because you cant calibrate this meter or change the Power level?
I'm on the fence about getting an analog meter. This one size fits all approach just doesn't seem right.
I liked the review. I received my SW-102 yesterday and am watching videos to get more of a feel for the unit. I believe the unit is 'calibratable' by entering values in the Menus 3-7 fields. You would need to have some pretty accurate equipment to establish the correct values. A known accurate wattage transmitter could also help increase the accuracy of power readings. Since it is not intended to be used a a lab grade device, getting approximate values should be good enough for most users. I believe it will be great for antenna builders and that is what I like about it. Thank you for sharing.
Yes it IS programmable, I have one. Joe, you didn’t show the menu where all of adjustments and tuning are in the meter. My first adjustment was the channel freq was off 467.650 for a repeater came up 467.649. You go in to the adjustment menu and run the digits up or down until it meets your transmitter when you key. There’s like 15 lines items on that menu you can adjust, auto turn off and many more from memory. When I bought this meter I order 2 of them to match them to each other. There was a difference in the SWR 1.2 on one and 1.3 on the other, non negotiable in my opinion. Joe, love your videos keep up the good work.
Hi! Can you tell me something about the metal plate on the surecom, please. 73 de Tom, DL4FOX
Why are you assuming that the meter is incorrect and not that the radio isn't putting out the full wattage? Did you verify the wattage with another meter?
I think he’s right. On what basis you believe that the other meters you have are accurate and this is not? The radio itself can’t be used as a reference. If you bought this meter new I’d rather believe it to be more accurate and giving you an accurate result. Having a reference is pretty difficult so the only thing you can trust is a new instrument taking into account the tolerance of accuracy the manufacturer state for it.
Correct. If "Joe" is only ASSuming the what's printed on the box is how much the radio is actually putting out, he's wrong. The only way to KNOW for sure is to measure it with a VERY accurate, known, and calibrated tool.
I thought I saw another video that it can be calibrated.
Can it be use around 90mhz please
yes it can be used but it just doesn't show frequency, you can see watts and swr
The SW-102 is good for frequency range between 100MHz and 520MHz. Oh, and mHz stands for millihertz (10−^3 Hz), not megahertz (10^6 Hz) - and capitalize the H either way. :)
Can these be used for CB?
No. This is for UHF/VHF only.
The Hf version can
