      Of course. Doing anything well will take some time. In this case however the time is a fraction of what it would take to do it the way my friend here is doing it and much cheaper

      they are hard to find but the best thing would be to make your own mold. You can use wood since you only need a few but you can use regular blocks Just knock out the partitions about half way down. You need to mix the mortor 1+1+1+1 by volume for it to work properly. (a bit more agregate wont hurt as long as the concrete is thoroughly mixed)
      so one quart cement, one quart sand, one quart very fine sifted marl, one quart half inch aggregate.
      Normally the combination would be 2 parts sand but mortor works better with a one to one sand marl ratio. For this amount add ONE LEVEL TEASPOON of sugar to one 500 ml of water and mix it out completely before using that water to mix the concrete.
      You can scale up as needed.
      It may seem a bit expensive and heavy on the cement but you are using a lot less concrete to fill those pockets so it works out and less messy, much faster and easier.
      Remember to mix all dry components first then add water SLOWLY to just the point where the concrete seems mostly wet then stop. Continue mixing and the concrete will become completely mixed.add small amounts as needed but never to the point where soupy cement water is running all over the place. Just enough to where the concrete sort of wants to stay up in a heap but wont when you make a pyramid with it.
      This concrete with the sugar as a plasticizer will set up slower than regular concrete and that will make the concrete stronger and less susceptible to crack but it i cannot be disturbed for a few days

    I am with you on that that one teach one
    I saw that method here in the states
    You just reenforce my intention of doing it that way on my project but I find it easier to allow my mason to do it his way until I am back on site soon
    It will save me a lot of labor and steel cost which is thru the roof

      yes the price of steel has increased almost 40% since march of last year. Since you are in the states you may want to look into a product called SikaFiber. They are from Jersey and their product is actually certified as a steel bar replacement. I don't recommend rebar replacement but its use or use of a similar product such a fiberglass can increase the strength of you concrete decrease the tendency to crack and reduce the amount of steel significantly .

      @@jussayinmipeece1069 what is your take on building from solid concrete instead of building blocks

    • @jussayinmipeece1069
      @jussayinmipeece1069  3 роки тому +1

      @@daneford7132 it can be done. The NHT is building a bunch of houses that way through a chinese company called CHEC. The question is the forms. If you can build your forms cheaply enough and have them last for the duration of the build then the concept can be viable.
      The second question is the grade and consistency of the concrete mix. You have to find a mix and stick to it or else you will run into problems especially with your cold joints.
      The other question is the size of the house. If it a a fairly large house then your better bet would be to stick to blocks.
      Here is why. When you build with blocks you typically dont fill all the pockets so you will use less concrete and add that to the relatively low price of blocks then it may end up being cheaper to just use blocks anyway.
      You could consider making you own mold from wood, dropping your own blocks and using those since i presume anyone asking about form pouring is not afraid of thinking outside the box.

    Very cost effective way I must say..however this bond block method cannot be used in all cases especially when doing archs and other fancy masonry...both methods have their advantage and disadvantages, it's just how they r applied that is important.

    • @lwjunior2
      @lwjunior2 2 роки тому

    Good content but knowing these Jamaican builders that change, they are going find some excuse to not implement. I like it
