Definitely nostalgia that brings a lot of people back to the game, the issue is people who take it too seriously and min/max to the point that they take all the fun out of the game.
I loved Vanilla Wow, TBC, and WotLK. Skipped Cata and WoD, came back for Legion then quit at the end of it when the BFA release events started. never once felt tempted to do the "legacy" stuff. As a professional drug user, I know better than to chase "the dragon". you will never get that feeling again. chasing it makes you a burnout.
@@AlexanderTheGoodEnough Kind of a similar path to me. Played from Vanilla launch thru until mid-Firelands. Quit, came back midway thru Siege of Orgrimmar in MoP. Played thru until the end of Nighthold in Legion before quitting again. Came back at the end of BfA for whatever the N'zoth raid was, then played the first tier of SL, quit, came back for the Jailer raid, played first few weeks of DFlight, quit again, and came back near the end, but quit and havent touched TWW yet. Any time I quit since 2019, I went to some version of Classic the whole time, I have yet to let my sub lapse since 2019, I have always been on the older modes vs Retail.
@@joshfarley7584 I think our only difference is going back to classic. we both feel the same pull, but I'm not the one to indulge it. I think doing so adulterates the memory, because such memories cannot be recaptured or recreated. after all, I am NOT the same dude I was when I was playing that iteration of the game. I'm wiser and older than I was then, and anything they're hoping to do is only a reflection of that which once was. Maybe the real tragedy is that the older and more jaded you get, the less likely you are to experience the highs that you used to feel, and no matter the effort, you're just chasing a dragon of nostalgia hoping to feel the same way again. I've long since lost hope that one could ever feel that way again.
I played a bit in vanilla and tbc, mostly low level pvp, wrath was the first time I hit max level, but again mostly did pvp. When wrath classic came back i got into raiding. Still raiding in cata. But I'm really excited to go back to tbc and hopefully wrath. So far wrath is my favorite
Not a bad point mate! That being said, that is exactly why they didn't choose to go that route early on. They had discussions about how to even implement updates from the earliest days. Some of the designers moved on to another game called Wildstar that I had the pleasure of talking with on a few occasions. The idea had been there from the beginning to basically "instance" each expansion of WoW but the fear was that it would lead to confusion and fragment the player base. The marketing really took off and what they sold to the public was a massive MULTIplayer game with THOUSANDS of players, so the designer team felt they had to give up the idea of isolated expansions as a result. It wasn't really "decided" upon in the conventional sense.
oh I kind of can see the thought behind instancing expansions but for the amount of expansions I fear there isnt enough players that stick around to make zones not be dead in each expansions!
I would like to play, but not like this... BOTS, BOOST, RMT, pvp full of afk bots and scripters etc.. The game is good but the community is a stinking pile of shit+ OFC blizzard do nothing against all those exploiters and cheaters. I love this game but this quality is not worth the sub for me. I played trough classic+tbc just because of WOTLK (my favorit exp) and what happened xD? they killed the pvp realms and its was a PVE logger joke nothing else. Im waiting for some new good mmo maybe ashes of creation until then im playing on warmane onyxia, its not perfect for sure but OG classic isnt either xD. I think there are no people left at Blizzard who really love this game, they dont give a shit about quality and their own rules just money. Bots making them money so who cares about those players who have expectations?? The brainwashed hardcore funboys will pay for everything and they won't criticize anything.
Classic is filled to the brim with rmt bots and boost issues. I‘d understand boosters that would make their money from people who farmed their gold normally , the prices would be more fitting then but some guy sold 90g mara runs thats rmt prices right there

@@joshfarley7584 I’ve noticed that on anniversary realms even more. Min/max takes the fun out of any game period

I want TBC and or WOTLK back. I could play there forever haha.
I usually don‘t recommend this but theres some peak private servers that only focus on transitioning from tbc to woltk!

Chaos..rereleasing something with the same problems is the laziest money grab ive seen
It is indeed a very smart and easy money grab hitting people’s nostalgia to resubscribe you’re definitely right.
