Me too . They had their logo hung up at the back of the stage. Seem to recall them singing: Stay, save our love, sweet funky thing, I’ll be there, crazy, and Oh Baby I

I believe that’s Kelle on the bottom harmony, Vernie on the lower (below the melody) and Easther and Louise on the melody

They always put Kelle on the bottom even though she was a 1st soprano 🤔. Listen to her in "Mama I Want to Sing." Her voice clearly higher than Easther's. It was actually along with Louise who was also a 1st soprano. I'm guessing it was cuz they wanted Easther's voice to shine through. That and the fact they didn't care for her much.

@@dominiquedevereux7205 I'm sorry but this is absolute BS right here. Kelle singing the bottom note had nothing to do with them "not caring for her" or allowing Easther to shine more. Kelle sung the bottom harmony cause she had the strongest range there as seen here she can go pretty low kinda similar to Kandi from Xscape and Louise's tone may have been higher but her voice often sits in the middle range she even sings the melody harmonies in her own song, Louise's voice wasn't strong enough to carry the top note, Easther's is. Harmony is decided on what voice sounds best at which part and compliments the other voices and gives the harmony BALANACE. Maxine Jones from En Vogue was also an 1st soprano she's also known for singing the bottom harmony, Michelle Williams is a soprano similar to Easther and yet sung the bottom note. learn a thing or two about vocal arrangement instead spewing out garbage in the name of shade.

@@Musicblue22 It's your arrogance for me 🙄. I'm SO over people in the comments section thinking because they took a music theory class or 2 in college --- or even if they have a whole degree 👩🏻‍🎓 in it --- thinking their opinion is superior to those who may not have. By the way --- I studied 🎹 , 🎺, AND voice 😲🎶 for many years during my formative years. NOT that I would need them to inform me of what my ear can naturally tell me. You're right on 1 account --- harmonies are arranged (or should be) based on whose voice sounds better on what note & if they can remain in that register with strain or fatigue. THAT being said, even though Easther could hit a lot of the notes Kelle could, Kelle's tessitura (since you musical academics love 2 throw around technical terms to show off yoir "book 📖" knowledge 🙄) NATURALLY sits higher than Easther's, hence why it doesn't take as much power output/volume that it takes Easther to hit the same note. So it would make sense, stylistic choices withstanding, to GENERALLY have Kelle sing the top note MOST of the time if she's naturally a 1st soprano (which I don't believe Easther is, but whatever based upon what I just mentioned about her tessitura & volume output).
Just because some1 CAN hit a certain note, doesn't mean they should. Or at least, not regularly. You brought up Michellle from Destiny's Child being a 1st soprano, yet singing the bottom note 🎼 🎶 in their harmonies most times. Ok. Yes. She CAN sing the low noyes, & it seems without apparent strain, but if her voice flourishes at the top, i.e., becomes more fuller & more powerful the higher she goes --- moreso than Beyonce & Kelly --- what sense does it make NOT to utilize that ability in the harmonies? Actually, Kelly & Beyonce being mezzos, are both naturally better equipped at singing lower than Michelle. In fact, Beyonce has always been able to hit lower notes than Kelly, or make it seem like she can, & with greater ease than Kelly, though she has more of a natural range of her upper & lower extension than Kelly. Despite that being the case, at least 50% of the time on their live harmonies, Beyonce will take the middle (melody) note & Kelly will sing the top note 🎶 even though Kelly has the most limited range & unstable voice in terms of quality & strength in live performances (though I think she has the most beautiful tone out of the 3). People can manipulate their tone to better blend with others, but depending how far they're straying from their natural tone & tessitura/range for the sake of the sound may not be the healthiest thing to do in the long-run. You can hear when Michelle sings solo, her voice doesn't sound that low at the bottom of her range. Yet depending on how much Beyonce & Kelly are manipulating their tones & volume, it can either make Michelle's voice sound deeper or lighter than it actually is & vice versa. MOST true sopranos (not mezzos) have a more innocent/coquettish sound the higher they go, ALONG with the increased resonance. There are exceptions here & their, but as a general rule. Beyonce, even though she's a mezzo based on tessitura, does have a very ingenueish sound that is extremely feminine, but doesn't get more expansive & piercing (not in the negative connotation of the word) the same as Michelle's as she goes higher. Same with Kelle compared to Easther's. We don't hear Kelle go to stratospheric heights, but that's more than likely due to the fact she was only given a few words to sing very infrequently on Eternals 1st 2 albums, giving her no time to build up 2 a climax of any sort. But she did have 2 songs all to herself --- leads & backgrounds --- on the 3rd (and her final) album by Eternal on the songs "Still Crying" & "Your My Love" I believe the names of the songs are. She hits a few notes in those songs that hit at her ease in her upper register without having to "blast" like Easther (though I admittedly like the power of Easther's voice). And as I mentioned in my original comment to which you responded, her fluidity in her head voice on "Mama, I Want 2 Sing" surpassed anything I ever heard Easther do in that facility of her voice.
As for you thinking it's "rubbish" that Easther's & Beyoncé's voices were typically placed on the top note in the harmonies of their respective groups for the main purpose of making their voices shine/stand out over their group mates is blatant denial. Cuz it's not only them. The same thing was done with SWV I'm regards to Coko's voice standing out, even though Lee Lee was a 1st soprano as well with the same range (though she rarely used most of it) & better control than Coko. In a documentary on the group, becauss the producers like Coko's voice best, they would have her come in during separate sessions & layer her vocals, unbeknownst to Lee Lee & Taj at the time, AFTER the 2 of them were told the recording session was over.
In the group Xscape, U mostly can only pick out Tocha Scott & Kandi's voice. GRANTED ☝🏾, I will give Kandi & Tocha a SLIGHT 🤏🏾 pass in that their voices were naturally more resonant than Tiny & Tamika's. But at the end-of-the-day, she (Kandi) WAS screwing the group's producer whike she was in the group. So that might have played into how he mixed the vocals. But Tiny's voice was more suited for the top notes yet Tocha sang them most times & drowned Tiny out, whereas, if she sang the 2nd highest note UNDER Tiny, you would've heard both of them without Tocha drowning her out.
And Beyoncé s dad was the group manager. He had a CLEAR vested interest in Beyonce standing out as his daughter.
In En Vogue --- Terry was in a relationship with 1 of the 2 producers of @ least their 1st 3 albums. Granted, in MY opinion, she DID have the best voice by far, but that's ultimately a matter of taste on the part of the listener. With all of these vested interested on the part of the people producing these albums & the personal entanglements that had with 1 of the artist in each of thess groups, to say politics didn't play into the lead singers' voices being pushed pushed "out front" in the mixing of the background vocals --- as well as in other ways --- is just disingenuous. Except with the cases of Xscape & En Vogue where MOST of the time leads were shared pretty much equally, but that still doesn't mean leads or other behind-the-scene advantages like extra 💵 & favor I'm other ways was extended to Kandi & Terry of each group respectfully due to their romantic 👩🏿‍❤️‍💋‍👨🏿 entanglements 🛏 with their producers.
And as for you using Maxine from En Vogue to make your point concerning Michelle being a soprano, yet singing the bottom note. Well, I've read that Maxine SAID she TRAINED as a 1st soprano, but anyone can train 2B something they're NOT MEANT to be. Maxine could only get as high as her 3 counterparts when she resorted to using the upper limits of her HEAD voice, whereas Terry, Dawn, & Cindy could effortlessly hit the same notes on strait chest voice, or at the most --- mixed voice. I don't care what Max said, all I need are my ears 👂🏾2 tell me that her natural tessitura never allowed her to sing with HALF the resonance, resonance, or ease her group mates did. Out of all 4 of them, her voice has deteriorated the most --- and that's with her singing the LOWEST note. If you listen to her near the end of "Give it Up, Turn it Loose," her voice becomes tighter the higher she goes. And the notes she's hitting aren't mostly mid-range. Even then she resorts to her head voice to hit the highest notes in that song. Same as when she's ending "Part of Me," on her solo. All of her high notes are in chest & heas voice. And though her voice has a very distinct vibrato throughout most of her voice, her entire range lacks any resonance, which an increase such as she went higher would be a typical hallmark as she goes higher.
In any case, that's my opinion. And though you wanted to slight my opinion based off of what you ASSUMED to be my lack of technical pedagogy, my opinion is not only based off what my ears have observed, common sense logic, & FACTS concerning the politics of these groups outside of the vocals alone. Whereas your opinion seems to stem from 20% vocal facts & 80% emotion, i.e., rationalizing your point based mostly off of who you personally prefer. But, you are entitled to your opinion, as I am mine.

@Dominique Devereux You typed that whole book to say a bunch of nothing, deflect from the main point, and still end up being loud and wrong in the end. What a sad state of affairs boy.
I said what I said. Kelle singing the bottom had nothing to do with how they felt about her personally. Don't be upset you embarrassed yourself ok lol
