I have the 2000 psi model, sometimes it'll suddenly lose power then gain it after a short time. Is that normal?

    • @tsheehan7
      @tsheehan7 3 роки тому

Can you help me understand something with your cleaning units? With the lower powered ryobi's you used a 3.0 nozzle, but starting with the 2000 psi you went with 2.5 (at 1100psi). Why didn't you drop to 3.0 and see what you could get with those? Is it because you would increase the flow and decrease the pressure by similar amounts and therefore not change the cleaning units materially?, so it just wasn't worth it? Just seems like they weren't placed on a level field, but then again i don't have a great grasp on this sort of thing.

Great video series, Matt! Anyone who is obsessed enough with perfection to follow you would prefer a Kranzle, but that just isn't in everyone's budget. This information puts decent performance in people's hands at a reasonable cost (until we can buy that Kranzle!!). Keep up the great work!

Cool series here. I have used that second ryobi with your mtm wand and pf22 foam cannon for over 2 years. I wash two cars almost every weekend and its worked like a champ ever since. I got it on home depot sale for $75

Thanks for this video Matt! I went with the 2000psi Ryobi with the hose reel. I got it deeply discounted from a tool liquidator. My guess is that people go to home depot, buy a pressure washer, clean their driveway/deck/ whatever needs cleaning, then take it back to the store for a refund. The warehouse I bought mine from was FULL of slightly used electric pressure washers.

Its amazing how much money you can save just by watching your video. You're showing how you do not need to spend $500.00+ on a pressure washer to wash your car. I only use it to foam the vehicle and a regular garden hose the rest of the way for me. Great Series...thanx for your time

@@ObsessedGarage not everyone can afford to spend $500.00+ for an electric pressure washer. My next door neighbor has a home depot special and he washes his 3 vehicles every weekend..15yrs and counting, cost him $120.00 for it..lol I recently bought a gas operated unit from Bj's for $342.00 and popped a 5.5GPM nozzle on it to wash my vehicles at 1100psi, and 4GPM nozzle at 2700psi at 3.2gpm..I do own a Kranzle k1122(Pressure washing Rooftop HVAC Units), I contacted you about the 35' hose a while back, till today i can't find it. My point is that you're doing a great job showing that anyone can save money and not buy a $1000.00 pressure washer and then realize that "hey i only use it for about 10min" most of the work is done by hand anyway. I have that portable 1600 PSI unit and it did fine and still worked on my cheap foam cannon. Impressive unit for the price and that current draw is a bit high. That was the reason it was a return I guess at HD, but at $75 was a steal. By the way the Ryobi has a surface washer that really works well for the driveways, takes patience but it works great at $30.

Appreciate all the effort put into these detailed reviews - Thanks! The Ryobi 2300 Model# RY142300 was updated. It has auto shutoff now. It was a top pick on Consumer Reports and Wirecutter. Looks like the older version recommendation was for 2.5 orifice - thinking of going w that or maybe 3.0 orifice? Its been good to do the concrete, brick and deck cleaning I needed, pressure + low GPM may not be optimal for regular car washes though. 50' hose and gun upgrades are nice.

Thanks again Matt. Maybe I missed it, but are you considering selling a kit that has all the upgrades except the power washer? So if someone has one of these they could just buy the quick disconnects, hose, gun, wand, foam cannon and whatever else I might have forgotten.
Personally I think this would be a great idea.

Yes, I never wanted to have anything to do with these pressure washers because they are all really cheap and built like junk. The reason I'm doing it, is there is clearly a need. My belief is there is a large percentage that if willing to up upgrade their entry level pressure washer will be the kind of person I will want to have a relationship with in the future. The only risk for me here is that a decent amount of those people will a large sense of entitlement. They often return stuff, make ridiculous warranty claims, and demand more than they deserve. The interesting dynamic is the overwhelming majority of people that will spend $2,000 on a pressure washer are courteous, don't have time to return stuff, and largely don't complain. The thing I will have to do is make warranty disclaimers very clear and be vocal about them. I will need to set expectations on what hoses, guns, and quick disconnects are and how they function. For instance, there is no warranty on an $8 coupler. They are wear and tear items. Some last years, some last weeks. It part of the deal. To answer you question, I will have a configurator for each brand of pressure washer that will allow you to easily build a package of the right equipment to improve it.

Thanks Matt, I understand completely about having to deal with someone that complains about a quick connect that the O ring wore out or something just as silly. I think you just have to stipulate exactly what is warrantied and what isn't. No matter what someone is always going to be dissatisfied because of some bs reason.
I am looking forward to seeing the next installment. Keep up the good work

Just as an FYI, I had no problem fitting my 1/4” foam cannon or 1/4” nozzles from my gas pressure washer to this Ryobi wand. Did lose some pressure using the nozzles from my gas washer, because as you stated the orifice is smaller on the Ryobi nozzles. No, I didn’t have to “force” my 1/4” cannon or nozzles on. Just give them a little twist as you put them on. Mine is a newly purchased base model Ryobi 1600psi 1.2gpm pressure washer.

akaredcrossbow It’s the cheapest base model Ryobi 1600psi from Home Depot, not a 1500. My foam cannon is an old made in Italy foam cannon (brass fitting) I got from one of the major online auto detailing stores years ago, and it’s time for a new one.
I’m not sure why Matt couldn’t get the fittings to work on his. I give mine a little twist as I push them on and they fit perfectly. No leaks anywhere.
My point was, the wand that came with with my cheap Ryobi accepted my foam cannon, my son’s cheap $17 Dusichin foam cannon (it looks just like mine except has stainless steel fitting) which by the way, works better than my original expensive one. As I mentioned, the wand also accepts the stainless steel nozzles from my gas Craftsman pressure washer (I don’t use those because the orifices are too big for this little pressure washer) Yep, it’s cheap, but it works just fine for my purposes.

Your the man dude!! I could never find a video of a review on the ryobi line up, especially showing the actuall psi on the units and going into detail with spec's, i got the 1600psi ryobi one and let me tell you that little guy pack's a punch! i got it new(still in plastic lol) at home depot for 79$, after watching your video I'll definitely be upgrading to quick connect fittings and new spray with a quality hose, can't agree more with you on the goofy hose it comes with, the 1600 in my opinion is better then harbor freights 1750 80$ pressure washer, especially because it has the weird hose and wand set up, the ryobi has a lot more quality to it. Thanks man keep it up!

You fell for their marketing trap because they used the word "brushless" for an AC induction motor powered pressure washer!! While AC induction motors are also brushless, they are less efficient because they don't use permanent magnet rotors like a brushless motor uses. They instead use a steel laminated core rotor with copper or aluminum bars embedded into the rotor that are then shorted with end cap rings. This is what makes them less efficient because the magnetic field from the stator has to induce a current into the rotor so the rotor can create a magnetic field that interacts with the stator's to create motion.
With brushless motors you already have a magnetized rotor since they are permanent magnets, but you need control electronics to make it work. I found the parts replacement website for this so called "brushless" model, and it clearly shows an AC induction motor and replacement starting capacitors, which single phase AC motors need for starting up. No control electronics board at all in the parts breakdown view. You would get more power if it was brushless instead of AC induction motor due to the high efficiency gains in the 90% or higher versus 60% to 75% for this tiny AC induction motor that will also have poor power factor. So they are peddling 1888 technology as new tech by using the word brushless to entice people to buy this product because people know how powerful brushless power tools are. This is a scam from Ryobi.

If bought new and got a used unit, I hope you got some money back; cuz that's messed up & super not right. When you buy "new"; one EXPECTS a "NEW" unit, not used. Very bad business practices & still can't believe companies do this & try to get away with it. Similar thing happened to me when bought brand new Brad nailer & staple gun. Staple gun was used & looked like was dropped, & had accessories missing etc....really sucks

For the purpose of this test, I don't have the time or energy to box it up, take it back, or call some 800 number and sit on hold. I just used it for the test and will sell it at a discount to get rid of it. It will be a risk to anyone buying these. You could end up with the demo or returned unit since a lot of these are picked and shipped via automation.
