I remember, I've been to the last Terrorific Night in 2012 and it was awesome. I loved the entrance of the park, because you had a huge American Firefighter truck with firefighters begging you to not enter the studios because something horrible was happening in the park...
The event was awesome, but the park was so crowded you had huge lanes everywhere and the waiting times were awful... It was impossible to do everything in one night unfortunately.

I absolutely hope that Zombie Captain America is a sign of things to come, I believe there is a lot of fertile room for design and Imagineering would/could come up with some truly amazing creations. Disneyland is meant to be for the whole family, but that doesn’t mean every single attraction or event needs to be for everyone, as long as there is a “Not So Scary” party an alternative horror event is welcome addition. Not every family is the same and not every family has young children.

For some context here: Disneyland Paris was never fully owned by the Walt Disney Company until 2017, Disneyland Paris was mostly stake owned by Euro Disney SCA and the shareholders lounge is Salon Mickey in Disneyland Park. The buyout is the reason why the Walt Disney Studios park 2.0 expansion is underway right now, including Avengers Campus replacing the Backlot.
Furthermore edit: Walt Disney Studios Park opened with hardly any family friendly rides, only Tram Tour and Carpets. WDSP was another one of Michael Eisner’s pet projects to get more adult oriented attractions into Disney resorts. Gradually since Eisner left in 2005 and when Disney realised the lack of family attractions, they slowly started to expand into Toon Studio with Crush’s Coaster, Cars Race Rally, Toy Story Playland and now Ratatouille. This is why Terrorific Nights went on for so long without Disney intervention, they didn’t change their perception of the park until later on.

Disneyland Paris somehow brought this "kind" experience during their Halloween Soiree back in 2018 and 2019 in Disneyland Park. This time, only a smaller scale called "Pirate Scare Zone" located in Adventure Isle in Adventureland. They have pirate zombies roaming around the cave mazes scaring guests around. One zombie is even holding a beheaded head on his hands. Captain Jack also appears meeting guests. Trust me, it's one of the busiest areas during the party. However, it didn't return during this year's 2021 Halloween Soiree due to the pandemic.

I went to two of these and it was fantastic (went with one of your photo sources, photosmagique). The last one was way too crowded though so the scariest thing was what massive queue to join. It totally made sense for Disneyland Paris to get in on the more adult scare attractions as they're huge in Europe, their biggest competitor in Paris, Parc Asterix, is famous for their intense Halloween event which goes on for most of October. It's a shame the event was cut, it really needed to become a multi-night event to cope with the demand.

    OMG SO MUCH MEMORIES 😍😍😍
I went 2 years in a row with my best friend back then between 2010 and 2011, so the 2nd and 3rd night, and I remember we found the 3rd night way more intense than the 2nd with all those burned cast members who told us to leave the park because something horrible was happening inside ! It seemed so real.
But gosh what fun we had, running and screaming everywhere in the smoky alleys to escape the psychopaths and the monsters
I miss these events so much and I regret that we chose to try the "Not-so-scary Halloween Party" at Disneyland Paris for 2012... If only we knew it would be the last Terrorific Night 😥
Back then we all thought they stopped it because Disneyland (Disney Studios included) is mostly meant for kids and families and people were kinda upset to see something as trash as that in the resort (even if it was clearly said that these event was unsuitable for children under 16, we saw a lot of young kids with their parents...), but I didn't know it was just because they did it without Disney's permission 😨
I felt like it was very inspired by the Halloween Horror Nights in Universal Studios, and I thought it was brilliant they did that
Anyway thank you so much for this recap, it bring back good memories 🤩👍

Actually, yes it does. Because Orlando already had HHN and Howl-O-Scream, while the west coast has their HHN and Knott's Scary Farm. Why would childless adults, that admit their reason for going to HHN is to get away from children 12 and under getting freaked out and "ruining their (the childless adult's) fun", pay to go to a less scary HHN when they have the real deal? What sense does *that* make? There are so many "mature", "adult" Halloween events already out there, why does Disney need to cater to you to make a watered down version of what you experience at HHN, Howl-O-Scream, Knott's, etc? Not everything needs to be for everyone, and that includes childless adults too insecure to admit they like Disney and will visit the parks without a child in tow because the general public still sees Disney Parks as being "childish" and "only for families with small children", and demand Disney further bend the knee to make said adults feel included. Disney doesn't need to offer you a watered down HHN to try to compete with the authentic version.

There's no direct connection to the P&F character other than the name, he doesn't really look like Doofenschmirtz either. But the event started after the show so seems bizarre to pick that name just for the sake of it, may have been a sort of tounge in cheeck unofficial tie-in by the creators but I heavily doubt it was Disney approved - Luke

It definitely would have been awesome to experience these HHN-Lite experiences at the Disney Parks across the pond, but at the same time, I get why the Disney corporation shut them down. HHN fits in well at the Universal Parks. Having something like that at the Disney Parks, while fun for childless adults, is the antithesis of Disney itself. That's *why* people attend more adult events like HHN, Howl-O-Scream, and Knott's Scary Farm, because it's not Disney and they don't want to deal with a bunch of rugrats running around getting scared at a 13+ Halloween event. That's what the Oogie Boogie Bash and Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween events are for. Not everything has to be for everyone, and that goes for not every Halloween event having to be like HHN for the childless adults. You have no shortage of other "grown-up" Halloween events across the country to choose from, do you *really* need for Disney to host one too? (Answer: No, not really.)
It's cool the European and East Asian Disney parks were able to do these events for a few years, but I understand why the Disney higher-ups put a stop to it. Not all Halloween events need to be the same level of intensity as Universal's Halloween Horror Nights, and it's kinda selfish to demand that of Disney when you already have HHN and other similar HHN-like events. I know that's an extremely unpopular opinion with the childless adult Disney park fans, but it's the truth.

Thank you..love the video...they could do this. while MK runs it's g rated Halloween, they could expand the unused (abandoned office) area behind the old animation court yard at DS.. it about third of the park size.. Put a twentieth century studio area with rides.. then once a year bring Monster from 20th century and area for Halloween (pg13). have closed off through the Court yard... Since there would be a controlled enter point, it would be possible just post a sign some rides may not be suitable for all....Walt did say a place for the children and the parents, not only parents with children.. it also be a great area to bring back the great movie ride and XS tech AE... this type of Halloween although toned down would put them in competition with Universal HHN. Since the terror nights were populated with a high number of Americans, there is a market that Disney could take advantage of.... again thank you... Work like a Capt, party like a pirate!

Do they really need to though? When you already have Halloween Horror Nights, Howl-O-Scream, Knott's Scary Farm and so many other "grown-up" Halloween events available across the country? Why does Disney specifically need to do an HHN-like event for childless adults when said childless adults say that they attend HHN specifically because it's *not* Disney, and they don't have to deal with a bunch of children 12 and under getting -traumatized- scared and "ruining *their* (the childless adult's) fun"?

At the time Disney had a problem with nothing for boys 10,11,12 and 13(because of isners directive that why Paris came out with that show)..... it was all baby-ish and princess.. yes we slowly open these markets with Disney aquired starwars and marvel. That is why they designed (with Lucas) XS-tech AE.. but some said it was too scary too fast for Disney to have such a ride in MK..what was considered scary then is not today. As people grow the things of the past seem mild(less modern and surprising). Just saying Disney could further open the market in a niche they been trying to get to by haft inches but by feet. A way to slowly open a door they really not been able or afraid to.. not a full horror night but somewhere between as said PG13. An area devoted to 20th century bring back AE , bring back a great movie ride like ride that little kiddos felt was boring.( At Halloween put 20 century old monsters with a warning kid under 13 may find scary. Not chain saw crazy running around dripping blood but 12 foot tall gort (the day the earth stood still) walking around or even the aliens from alien and predator. Little kiddos may find it a bit scarry (some kiddos find Darth to much).. remember Walt said a place for parents and the children not just the parents of children.. but great comment and discussion all liked and needed that the problem with today's Disney no discussion, but that another thing we can talk about later..

Just a sign with “not suitable for all ages” is not good enough. When Allien Encounters was a thing, Disney did that but people did not listen. Instead maybe have it be ID restricted area or an add on that an adult needs to buy before hand (+$$$ too for the mouse). Otherwise it sounds like a good idea except for some major logistical issues (how safe are the abandoned offices?).

Looks like it would be a fun event. Always thought they should do something a little scarier at Hollywood Studios. Don’t imagine something this far as I don’t see them trying to directly compete with HHN, but something a little spookier with scare actors and themed mazes. Hollywood Studios seems the right fit as it has the most thrilling rides already and could be a good in between level event that is scarier than MNSSHP but not as far as HHN.

    • @Lil_Angry_Bitch

That would never work in Orlando. Considering you have HHN there and Howl-o-scream, the Disney version would just be considered a watered down, less scary version. Why would people pay a lot of money for a less scary "Scary" Halloween event when you can pay for the real deal? It would also hurt Disney's image as being a place for families with Children. It's better for Disney to stick to their audience with family friendly Halloween events aimed towards children.

I think this was a brilliant idea. Disney was hoping to make some part of the park adult focused, the concept of the Dark Kingdom being an example.
I understand that the Disney Brand is predominantly kid friendly, but the Black Cauldron and the Night on Bald Mountain are great examples of how dark the company can be if given the chance, and I am all for it.
When you focus solely on children friendly entertainment, creativity can become stagnant, which is what we are seeing happening to Disney at the moment. You cant take risks, and thinking outside the box is not safe, there is only so much you can do.
Scary is not a bad thing, much to how many overprotective parents will disagree. The world is scary, and kids will not be ready for if always sheltered. Something more scary for older kids is not only more fun, it is important.

I'm personally don't mind Halloween events being Scary or spooky but to celebrate litteral Satanic elements like murder, blood, gore, violence, dismemberment etc as entertainment is just plain tacky. Hong Kong's Nightmare Experiment shows that you can make an experience scary without crossing the line. We live in a PC world now where everything offends people, even maple syrup bottles, yet however "murder" isn't? If you were to watch a depiction of someone being raped, it would be considered offensive, tasteless, and obscene, but somehow watching depictions of people being killed and dismembered is fun and entertaining? The world is very upsidedown.
