    Your afro is just stunning. I think alot of people don't realise that dense, thick is a lot of work, regardless of texture, let alone if your hair is coily aswell. Clear to see your hair has bounced back & looks gorgeous 😍

    I love my hair, but I *have* to mentally prepare for wash days. If I’m not in the right mindset, I won’t do it. You’re right, it does take effort, and we’re only talking about 2.5 hours of wash+style time for me lol. But nothing beats my confidence after a well-executed twist out!
    It was great to see your texture release journey. It’s not for me, but it’s nice to know all the options for 4C natural hair care :).

      2.5 hrs. Girl it takes me ages. I love my 3b hair but I enjoy straight hair, easy and less damage. I invested in a dyson blow dryer, straightener, and airwrap 🤣. Keratase hair products are the best and my hair is still healthy

    @ 15:14 -- yes , the higher density , coarseness , etc. DEFINITELY makes some natural hair types way more difficult to manage , i don't care what nobody says . even some professional hair stylists add an up-charge for "more" (thicker, longer) hair b/c it takes more time to service that client

    I’ve been viewing all your videos about texture release and I’m so glad I found a real 4c natural who did it. I have dense 4c hair and wear braids often because I am a shameless lazy natural. Every time I take my braids out I dread the entire wash, condition, detangle, blow dry, twist process. I’m in NYC and will be asking my stylist if she can do this. If not the I’ll find one that can. Thank you for explaining this so well! Your hair is gorgeous in all forms 😍 Thank you also for keeping it 💯 about the fact that natural hair (4c hair) is often high maintenance. I love my natutal hair but I don't always love doing it. ANYthing I do to my hair takes a MINIMUM of 2-3 hours. My hair is high maintenance but my lifestyle is very much not. We often have to schedule our whole lives around our hair as black women and it's exhausting sometimes. The natural hair police my try to give me a citation but #FightMe bc it's true. Doesn't stop me from loving my curls and nappy roots but it is a blessing that we have OPTIONS for styles and maintenance 💕

    Amino acids are chemicals! It is a chemical treatment it just isn’t a permanent chemical treatment

    • @mariajones9102
      @mariajones9102 2 роки тому

      Amino acids are natural moisturizing factors for skin. When the cells in the epidermis die and become the stratum corneum, the proteins in these cells are broken down into amino acids and supplied to the stratum corneum. Collagen also consists of various amino acids.
      Why Are Amino Acids Essential for Healthy Hair?
      Amino Acids for Smooth and Silky Hair
      Moisture retention is just as important for hair as it is for skin. Amino acids help moisturize dry cuticles. The cuticle is the outermost part of hair and plays an important role in retaining moisture. The amino acids in cuticles work to retain moisture. Dull and dry hair is a sign of severe cuticle damage and a lack of amino acids. More people are dying their hair nowadays but coloring agents and bleach can damage hair and the cuticles in particular. Using shampoos, conditioners, and treatments that contain certain amino acids helps to promote moisture retention and keep hair from breaking. Amino acid care helps give you smooth and silky hair.

      @thecurlylana4351 2 роки тому +4

      @@Tonyayt my original stylist fell sick with Covid so she referred me to the owner of the salon who charges more - $300. The stylist told me I didn’t need to avoid ponytail or pins or what not. And I wore my hair straight like that for 3 weeks while I was traveling abroad mid late august in different levels of heat and humidity and i live in nyc which is also super humid. I wrapped it each night at first with the dent free clips and no issue. Washing it after my curls returned. Just when I style it natural it lasts longer and doesn’t frizz up as easily and my curls are loosened. It is easier to detangle my thick hair. Wash and gos used to last 4 days and now can last 7. When I was a 4B before maybe my hair became 3C/4A. If i straighten; it stays straight longer without the frizzing but the roots will still frizz if I’m exercising. I just wash my hair after 2 weeks max because I’m used to cleansing regularly. The treatment is probably starting to wear off now it’s 2 months since. Straightening too much will still cause heat damage as if you didn’t have the treatment. I have been straightening a little more due to choice - this week will be my 2nd time straightening since the treatment/silk press in august. Overall it was worth it. Let me know any Qs!

  • @ItsAllyOnline
    @ItsAllyOnline 2 роки тому +2

    I feel like I’m struggling comprehending “texture release.” I’m envisioning something that just loosens the coil. My daughter has such a tight curl pattern that it hurts her when I do her hair- BUT, she doesn’t want straight hair. I love that about her. She just wants curls that are easier to comb through and will create a nice wash and go with the right additional products. It sounds like the texture release is still designed to make it easier to straighten hair? Would you recommend a texture release for making combing through easier and more easily creating and maintaining curly styles, or is it not worth it unless you want to straighten your hair?

    • @thecurlylana4351
      @thecurlylana4351 2 роки тому +2

      Yes texture release can help to manage curls too and you can use lower strength of it by no or fewer passes of flat iron.

      a texturizer is what youre looking for

    • @lailas.3205
      @lailas.3205 2 роки тому +1

      I mean this very sincerely 🥰: Have you considered encouraging her to rethink the idea of "combing through" her curls? Some textures simply do not lend themselves to being combed very often, especially if the curls are tight. Contrary to many assumptions, curly hair is not necessarily stronger than straight hair; it is in fact often weaker. That is, each bend in our hair makes it more susceptible to breakage. Naturally curly hair often must be treated with greater care, including being judicious about how often and how vigorously your handle and, yes, comb your hair, especially if length retention is a goal/desire.
      Personally I usually ONLY comb my hair on wash day while working conditioner through it, or maybe after blow drying. That's it. My hair is 4c, thick, dense, and halfway down my back when stretched. But my go-to styles are 2-strand twists. Even when I do a twist out, I usually don't comb when retwisting.
      Maybe you/she can think through what styles work best with her activities/lifestyle (that will also support her confidence since she's a child), and then consider the best ways to maintain those styles. Yall may find that keeping her hair in braids/extensions works best for now until she/you can dedicate more time to her hair for her to wear it "out". Without knowing more I'm speculating, but my only encouragement is to rethink the need for and/or frequency of combing altogether. Suggested with love. 💕

      A texture release “elongates” texture and will remove some volume if your mane is super big. Temporarily. I like a texturizer or relaxer that permanently changes/removes the soft bonds removing the curl pattern or texture altogether.
      The texture release simply coats the hair strands locking in the silk amino acids which softens the texture a bit. Making the hair easier to manage and helps greatly with avoiding single strand knots. It’s worth it if this is your goal.

    Not related to this video but I was wondering whether you still used the L’Oréal powder in cacao that you mentioned in an earlier video I can’t seem to find it anywhere?

    Hi hun, I had a salon texture release in July and my scalp faked so much and having excessive shredding, ive had to put braids in. My roots are 2 inches thick and reveting back, worse than my original texture. It's like I had a relaxer. I'm derverstated. How long did it take for you to grow it out?

    Okay, look up #30daydetox, BlackgirlsCurls, Jen Jackson and Maame Cerwah. These gals have gotten their 4c hair washdays down to an hour, and still getting defined curls.
    Also, look into getting the denman paddle brush, or a tangle tamer, special wetbrushes with no balls on the end to catch hairs. Your hair texture can be absolutely be easily managed, you just need the right tools and information.

    Not suitable for fine hair. Wish it was but my hair will go limp. Suits your hair. Don’t think people with low density fine hair should have this done.
