As a Dutch person. Jan Maas literally represents our whole country with our directness, blindness towards social cues, and undying need to not think before speaking.
It reminds me of my time in the US when everybody stared at me like I said something odd. I just told 'm they were all fake nice and it made me uncomfortable.

I was worried he would become the new antagonist of season 2 the first time he appeared, but they defused that so quickly and I was honestly relieved, lol
i would die for Jan!!!! he has one of the strongest presences as a background character and I love him. (also, partial to him bc I'm studying in the Netherlands and yeah.. life's kinda just like this loll)
When Jaime tells Roys he needed to give his teammate space, that he learned from pep and then Jan Maas says he learned it from Cryuff. It hinted they were playing total football later.

Unfortunately the vowel sound doesn't exist in English. Closest is maybe the vowel sounds in the word guy, so kr-uy-f. But less with the j-sounds that you add at the end for guy. 😅
