Its like a lot of us have been missing this game. I felt like looking it up outta nowhere. Played Pacific Rift to death. Its my favorite racing game ever and still has the best intro sequence to a video game.
Oddly enough I actually played the Arctic Edge version of motorstorm first, and was shocked to learn years later it released after some PS3 Motorstorm titles. After Arctic Edge I completed Monument Valley, Apocalypse, and finally Pacific Rift.
To be fair, Motorstorm Apocalypse was supposed to have much more DLC, but a huge earthquake happened in Japan a few days before it's release. Obviously, Sony cut down all advertising and the new track was scrapped. Most of the other shortcomings are true, especially the difference in vehicle classes and not being able to unlock new cars because online was shut down. Still a top tier game in my opinion.
Motorstorm is my “childhood game.” Motorstorm pacific rift out of all of them is my favorite. First game I got and played on my ps3 slim. I got apocalypse next, I remember being blown away because if the graphics and city destruction. Then monument valley. Funny thing actually, I didn’t know monument valley excited until looking at the movies in the extras of pacific rift. I got that and enjoyed it. Then arctic edge most recently in 2017 for my birthday. Got it on a trip out of town, and played it all night long in the hotel. I love them all, glad I grew up with the franchise. I’ll never forget playing pacific rift back in 2011. So fun
Apocalypse is amazing if you can get over the fact that it’s just different. And the story, it was obvious tongue in cheek and totally harmless. I preferred it to the ticket system
Awesome Video! I never personally played Motorstorm but i definitely noticed how big it was back then. Motorstorm was used a lot to promote the PS3 in my country and would be the go to game when shops had a PS3 demo station. I really hope you do more of these franchise retrospectives at some point, this was a lot of fun to watch!
RC is one of my most played titles ever. Went for the platinum and made some noise on the worldwide leaderboards. It was an obsession once I nailed the controls.
I agree, we need another Motorstorm and thier is a rumor that Sony wants to make another Motorstorm to compliment Gran Turismo, arcade and Sim side by side
plus there was The Rock another dlc track that had 2 variants and was set to be after the festival. Also there was the planned heights dlc but that was cancelled due to less advertising due to what happened back in 2011
All the 4 MotorStorm games are awesome and a genere on its own, in fact, the francise is so good that MotorStorm MV servers are beign hosted by fans so you can play it online again. Yes I said all the 4 MotorStorm games, MotorStorm RC is not a real motorstorm game. Delivering that game was like the Titanic crew purposely hitting the iceberg to sink the whole ship.
It just a little over a year ago I saw my first gameplay footage of the MotorStorm series. What was it? It was gameplay of MotorStorm Apocalypse's 'Waves of Mutilation' race event from its Festival mode. HELL OF A FIRST IMPRESSION THAT WAS! XD Previous games were tame by comparison but no less entertaining to watch. Even grabbed RPCS3 just to try the series out and now I sincerely want to get the games on PS3 or any systems after that are backwards compatible with PS3 games. It was honestly a damn shame that series died the way that it did. I really hope that some developer finds it in Sony's library of IPs and makes a pitch to bring that series back.
Just got Apocalypse for £10 to complete the trilogy for my PS3. Been on the lookout for a copy in my local part ex store for 18 months or so. Checking out the reviews prior to playing. I'm going to hate the story mode soooo much! For anyone with a PS4, Onrush is even more unhinged than the MotorStorm series! Pure arcade madness
What an incredible racing game series. Its sad how many studios got axed by Sony during the PS4 era and that this was one of the studios. Arcade racing is almost dead these days, as well as many other genres that were popular not so long ago. Feels like gaming has take a nose dive in the last two console gens...
I am a huge huge fan of the first two MotorStorm games. I'm so bored with present-day gaming from my PS5 I barely turn it on anymore. I dusted off my PS3 around 3 years ago and seem to play it more than anything. I still play the first two MotorStorm games quite frequently. I own apocalypse but never play it, because I agree with you it just doesn't feel like a MotorStorm game to me. I was real disappointed by that release. I was a huge fan of driveclub also. I enjoyed your video but I have to disagree with the title. No one has forgotten about MotorStorm, Sony just forgot about how much people loved the franchise.
Sony really dropped the ball with the Vita. In itself, the RC game looks like a cool little game, but the Vita NEEDED that big Motorstorm experience like the games on PS3. With how powerful that console is, it's a shame the best way to play Motorstorm on Vita is still Arctic Edge.
Maybe not the best place to post this but the fifth BoF games Dragon Quarter and Whiplash are good contenders for Forgotten Franchise! Please consider it, even if you never make a video on them.
@@BigGreenGaming Thank you so much! No one in the last few years has talked about these games and it's a shame because I loved them growing up. Oh and Scaler (Ps2) is also a good one! Heck, I know a ton, but you're the content creator, I'm just glad you took the time to hear me out.
I grew up with xbox, the only motorstorm i have played is artic edge using the psp emulator but ive been thinking of buying a used ps3 just to play this games... seriously
@@wile123456 Yeah ik, but thats my main issue, the pc lol, so quick update, after all this time i finally got a ps3 and just yesterday bought pacific rift for like 14 bucks, words cant describe how god damn happy i am :DDDDDDDD
16:26 u didn't even mention the brotherhood dlc or the joker card dlc's. they added 6 races per character and 2 races showing off the premier pack cars giving up to 38 races. plus apocalypse imo was executed well just poor timing with the tsunami in japan and having to pull advertization
I can’t believe you called Pacific Rift a “map and car pack” to the original… it’s a completely different game!! Different physics and handling, completely different setting with the island, way more vehicles, the addition of Monster Trucks… It was honestly worlds apart from Monument Valley. Also, the reason Apocalypse had lacklustre DLC was because of its poor performance on release. It came out just after the Toku earthquake in Japan, so advertising for the game was pulled and as a result the sales were really badly affected (with the game being cancelled entirely in Japan). They ended up abandoning lots of planned DLC for it. It was simply bad timing with the release, a real shame.
Sorry but nohing beats original Motorstorm. They need to reboot that game for the PS5 and put all the tracks from the original game and Pacific Rift on there. If only they could come up with a decent Story mode...
There's some bad nasty Pizza that I just can't eat I don't know what you're talking about the no-name freezer Pizza disgusting taste a cheap pepperoni cheap saws cheap cheese
I only played Artic Edge and I found that game.....boring after time. It might be becuase of it's handheld roots, but it was fun at the begining but felt repetitive after few races. So by me, there is no need for another one

well should have deliad ii when it has a chance and it's no excuse

Demolition All Stars should've been a Motorstorm storm game
I still have my PS3 Motor Storm copy and I bought a PS3 today with the sole intention of turning it into my Motor Storm playing machine
Apocalypse is amazing if you can get over the fact that it’s just different. And the story, it was obvious tongue in cheek and totally harmless. I preferred it to the ticket system
Not forgotten by me that's for sure
I still own a ps3 just so I can continue playing pacific rift and apocalypse
Awesome Video!

Thanks! It's funny you mention that because my first time playing MotorStorm was also at a demo station 👍
I fucking LOVED these games so happy you made a vid about them!
I'm happy you enjoyed it! 😁

I have the same opinion, for me Motorstorm RC is like a mini game like those you would get in Mario games on the DS 😂
The reasons that make you not like MS apocalypse are the reasons that make i love this game
You need to get your facts straight Apocalypse did have a track in thier DLC "The Rock" with a forward and backward varient

The OG trialer for Motorstorm got me hyped as sh!t back in the day and the game actually was really good for the time.
Nostalgia Hits Hard

I agree with your take on apocolypse. For some reason the cars in that game feel so heavy and sluggish compared to pacific rift and the original

idk man, Apocalypse was pretty fucking tight if you asked me.
I give left nut if remaster all games and racing wheel support

I love this MotorStrom PSP Version i support The Developers

They run fine on RPCS3 emulator if you have a modern CPU
@@wile123456 Yeah ik, but thats my main issue, the pc lol, so quick update, after all this time i finally got a ps3 and just yesterday bought pacific rift for like 14 bucks, words cant describe how god damn happy i am :DDDDDDDD
Now aiming to get the original motorstorm, and then apocalypse, gotta have them all...
I hope this small resurgance I am seeing in attention to the motorstorm franchise is going to prompt sony to do something with the IP.
Why can they make a 3 in 1 remastered collection for the PS5
16:26 u didn't even mention the brotherhood dlc or the joker card dlc's. they added 6 races per character and 2 races showing off the premier pack cars giving up to 38 races. plus apocalypse imo was executed well just poor timing with the tsunami in japan and having to pull advertization
You never had a pizza that's bad I did

Naw motorstorm was a masterpiece
