    This is just an FYI comment. Something unusual I have been observing on THIS UA-cam video and something that has become horribly apparent to me after watching every UA-cam video I’ve been able to find of Professor Coates speaking about his new book. It’s the highly unusual amount of commercial interruptions. So today on this one I have timed their frequency since around 20 minutes. And there is a commercial interruption approximately every 4-5 minutes!!!! I am on UA-cam ALL the time and I’ve never noticed THIS amount and frequency of commercial interruptions EVER. And they aren’t the easy commercials where you get a “skip” button after 15-20 seconds either. Professor Coates?? This tells me you are DEFINITELY speaking truths that some bigwigs do NOT WANT YOU TO BE SPEAKING!! Thank you for doing it anyway!!!!

      I just finished watching the interview and wading through the commercials. I was horrified to notice that one of them is for products being made and sold by Israel settlers recently arriving from the U.S. It was loaded with propaganda. Makes me wonder about YT’s motives placing it within this interview.

    • @okterlox0
      @okterlox0 Місяць тому +8

      @@nancylorusso3622 yeah. I noticed some ads that I thought were entirely antithetical to the discussion as well. Like ones with white men ( I imagine them to be MAGA or the kind of white men that stormed the capital and wanted to hang Mike Pence) talking about guns. I just thought that was a bad one but mostly I was just too shocked at the time by how frequently the whole video was being interrupted and that’s when it dawned on me that seemed to have been happening way more than usual and how over the last week the majority of what I was watching and rewatching were ones with Ta-Nehesi Coates or about him and that CBS morning show. I’m watching a fun one with Trevor Noah and Josh Johnson right now and it’s over an hour long and it’s maybe had 2 commercials?

      God no! Why don’t you want Muslims and Arabs to be able to tell their own story instead of outsourcing that responsibility to other people? I mean it has to be outsourced to some degree right now because Muslims and Arabs have limited voices and even people who can speak aren’t allowed to speak freely…but I don’t want that to always be the case! Why do you?!?

    Colonialism. Why is there a mosque on top of the ancient Jewish Temple Mount? Where did the Jews originally come from? Modern Israel was founded by Jewish refugees seeking safety after centuries of persecution in many different countries up through the Holocaust. And then they revived their ancient language so everyone spoke the same. After Israel was founded they were forced out of all the Arab countries like Iraq - places they had lived for centuries. The British could leave South Africa and go back to Britain. Should the Jews go back to Iraq, Libya, Iran, Germany, Russia, etc.? Not your typical “colonialism” as most people think about it. It’s more like the ultimate anti-colonial struggle to return the land to its original inhabitants.

    Why does TaNehisi Coates soeaks the way he does. It sounds insufferably as though it’s acknowledged that he’s a great author and writer. His oral speech doesn’t reflect or echo his competence in prose or the written language. His verbal speech isn’t refined or sophisticated and I think he should modify himself and his verbal articulation to resemble the literary quality he has become renowned for
