Thanks for making this. I passed my driving test several months ago. Did all my parkings perfectly. It's been months since I last practiced reverse parking, & I don't have a car to practice with yet, so I'm just watching this to familiarize myself with the process for when I have to park for real 'cause I'm buying my first car soon.
As shown in the video we prefer to keep looking around as the car is moving slowly - but if you want to stop at any point that's fine. As long as you are aware of what's all around your car either method is fine.
I've watched a couple of your videos and they've been really good. I was an ADI 2005-2009 (currently a full time instructor/examiner on a huge range of MHE) Maybe an explanation behind the mechanics of your reference points would be helpful.... i.e. When reverse bay parking your diamond reference point is when the pivot point of the car (middle of the rear wheel) is in line with the point of turn...so any learner can understand what they are actually doing, pivot point in line with white line of target bay. Once that is in line the learner can ascertain their own reference point (in the old Corsa I used the door handle) Love your delivery, so relaxed...your pupils have a brilliant instructor!!!
sorry to jump on this (i know this comment is 7 months old). I'm ~okay parking in my instructors car, but when practicing in my own car my reference points don't work and I get too stressed and give up. Is what you're saying that if I back up until the middle of my back wheel is in line with the closest line of the bay I want to park in, that will give me my reference point? I'm really struggling and lose heart when I can't do it. I'll have a really good drive and then just panic when it comes to parking
I wish I found these videos sooner. You remind me of an old teacher I had who taught a subject I liked so it makes it easier to absorb the information you're teaching.
I passed my test yesterday with 2 minors. Reverse bay parking is my nemesis. My instructor tried the 90• method but I couldn’t get it so he taught me a different technique. I’m going to practice the 45• method as this looks easier for me. An informative video 😊
Thank you so much for making these videos, these help me pass driving lessons(i am 10 right now, the one i went in is for ages 10-17 years old) and soon, will pass my driving test when im 17-18
Thanks for that, I've been driving a long time but everywhere is now so busy, and I get really anxious driving in between 2 cars, I'm OK reversing in but you can't get to the boot when you come back with a trolley load of stuff you probably don't really need! So will have another crack at driving in forward.
Thank you so much so much to learn from your videos I have my test on this coming Tuesday and I will pass InshAllah ❤lots of love to you for helping others GOD bless you ❤️ xx
I hope really will be passing next month by this video and practices .because I failed a lot of days .however ,keep it up nice way for you and Thanks for teaching drive ❤!!!
Not needing to ne exactly in the middle is so important to know. I passed first go and had to reverse bay park at the end back at the test centre. My instructor was watching from outside. I was not perfectly crntred and I would have messed up if I tried perfecting it haha. He said he was happy to see I stuck with good enough instead of going for perfect.
On automatic drive videos, you don't tell at what point you should initiate the hand brakes after parking also in long wait traffic if to use the hand break on not. I know in manual transmission, you have to put it in neutral then I initiate hand break.
Most automatic cars have a park setting for the transmission - so this is all we need when stopping for a moment. Otherwise we only need the handbrake when parking the car.
If you're reverse a car to the keft bay , do you need to position your car on right hand side or at the center, before taking your reference point. Thank you.
Hi are you driving an automatic car, can you please show me how to come over my fears, with doing manovers, show me how to do parallel parking, two car length reverse, and also bay parking In left and right, just forget the reference point thank you my test is soon.
We have made separate videos on all of those subjects already - have a look at the playlists on our channel home page. If you don’t feel ready for your test, it’s better to move it back until you can drive safely on your own. 👍🏼
Q. Can we touch the lines while doing forward? As my instructor is saying that you can’t touch the lines at all. As you are clearly touching the lines while getting into the bay 🤔
As long as you end up in the bay it's fine to cross the bay lines on the way in. It's only possible to avoid doing this when the road is extra wide so you can complete your turn before entering the bay - but this just isn't possible in most car parks.
Actually the procedure for driving tests recently changed - the examiner can ask you to do a forward or reverse bay park in any public car park of their choosing. In the car park you can choose whether to park on the right or left - but it is good to be able to do this on either side just in case there are only gaps on one side of the road!
It seems that you straighten the wheels at the end of the parking manœuvre when a car is not moving. My driving instructor says this is wrong and I should only straighten the wheels when the car moves. So what is correct then?
Hi Thanks so much for sharing your help full videos They are really really good And my test is coming in three days so can u give me any tips to pass my test in first go Thanks so much 😊
I wish you would show these manoeuvres between two parks cars. On both entries you entered over the line of the next bay, so you would clip another vehicle had there been one there. On my lesson today I chose to do a reverse bay park next to another car, because it seems much better to learn accuracy.

Im confused in the forward bay parking the car swings alot into the bays next to it , if cars were parked they would be crushed , does the examiner look for you to not encroach i to other bays as your turning in to park ?
That’s just how forward bay parking works. The only way to avoid crossing into the next bay a little is to go into the bays opposite before turning, or do a 3 point turn into the bay. Parking as we showed caused no danger, so will pass the test - just don’t park in a space before another car. We would always prefer to reverse into a bay when space is tight.
Hi, when you did the front parking on the left and turned, the car cut into the parking space on its right hand side. Will it be a fail already as there may be cars there in real life ?
No that’s fine, since the bay is empty. We would never park forwards into the last bay before a car / wall / kerb as it’s very easy to get wrong. We almost always reverse bay park as it car get us into any empty bay. 👍🏼
Hello Ann, it is the first time I see your video. Is your car Nissan Leaf Auto? I am using this model in my driving lesson but still not able to do reverse bay parking yet😂
thanks for taking time and helping peoples for the test.i have one question. are you allowed to use stickers as a reference point in the test.?thank you
That was brilliant 😀I’m taught I count four bays starting bay is 4 next to my elbow , then 3 after that then 2 then 1 is chosen bay then half of turn right , straight away then I go round my line then other side then full lock right then. I adjust for front it can be left I go right and opposite sometimes , if it’s left I adjust left or if it’s right bit that’s rare watching you helps so much.

Hello, thank for uploading this video. At 14:15, wouldn't we crash if there was a car on the right?
Yes - which is why we never forward bay park in the last space before another car. Far better to reverse into those spaces!

We always position in the centre of the road before reversing into a bay with the 90° method.

45 degree method is much more practical now that examiners can take you to different car parks other than the test centre.
Your video is quite helpful.
Thanks!
Wow amazing video thank you so much mam ❤
How it will work when you want to park in between 2 cars. Will it not hit the right-hand side parked car?
Reversing between cars works perfectly, but don’t try to drive in forwards!
On the test day if you aren't sure whether your car is within the white lines, can you get out of the car and check both sides
No - but you can open your door to see how close the line is. 👍🏼
My instructor it’s only left for bay parking. I reside in Liverpool. Is it different in different cities. Not sure now. Pls can you explain?? Thanks

Either is fine. It’s probably easier for a new driver to stop, but with practice it’s OK to keep rolling. 👍🏼
