They don't know that much, at least the guy who said this at 0.55 "the song from that "psychedelic album". The song is "2000 light years from home" man! We're talking about the Stones man! and he doesn't know the name of the song........!
I dont mean to be so off topic but does any of you know a tool to get back into an Instagram account?? I was stupid forgot my password. I appreciate any tricks you can give me!
Thanks guys for picking my "Echoes of Lennon" album. I never called it "new age" myself - maybe ambient, minimal, chill-out... any other word that has less crapola around it. Cheers!
this is the best episode in terms of the quality and variety of music recommended. I wasn't familiar with any of these artists apart from Soft Machine, and I will be checking out all of these artists.
Really cool choices. Love that Primal Scream record. Bobby Gillespie would be a good guest to have on too. Great to hear Spaceman 3 get a mention as well
These guys have some really eclectic tastes...lots of African music, pre EBTG band, etc., but is it just me or does very little of the music they pick here sound like the music they make? Perhaps they're tired of doing the California/surf/garage thing.
I listened to a lot of Reverberation Radio going backwards in time from the beginning of this year (just as they went on a long break hitting episode 399) and pretty much every album they showed here made it onto that podcast.
Each episode becomes more and more an episode of Portlandia (via Los Angeles). Some interesting finds, but the obscurity of some and the knowledge behind each has comedy gold written all over it.
Julian Cope was never in Echo & the Bunnymen. Julian Cope started off in a couple of bands with Ian McCulloch but they had a falling out. McCulloch then went on to be the lead singer of Echo & the Bunnymen. Cope formed the Teardrop Explodes. Anyone wanting know an interesting history of these bands should read 45 by Bill Drummond (lead sing of The KLF).
langerlord As I remember reading, for a brief moment they were a band that never happened called The Crucial Three: Cope, McCulloch and Pete Wylie(three massive ego's)...... Correct me if I'm wrong.
I noticed reading the comments that a lot of people watch these to discover new music. Why? This is a pretty bad place to find new music in my opinion, although it's possible! I watch to find out what some of my favorite artists listen to lol. Either that or to find out bands that sound a certain way, and their influences.
Do you never like what your favorite artists listen to? I always check out what my favorites listen to because that's the best way to find new music with a similar sound as far as I'm concerned.
cct17 Yes but it's more so about the artist to me than finding new music. If I wanted to do that I'd check out Soundcloud or Spotify or even just check out personal friend's new music. Obviously if I hear something I like in these, I'll listen and I have! But I'm not going to be butthurt about what an artist listens too.
Who cares if people discover new music here? If they do, that's great. I've unintentionally found a few great albums I had never heard before by watching these. Can't imagine why anyone would be bothered by it.
It is obvious that Captain Beefheart was inspired by Howling Wolf, so it wasn't a critique you snowflake, he just stated a fact, Beefheart was a massive blues fan.
These guys have mind blowing taste for music. It's almost unbelievable what these guys know.. Loving this episode.
Agree. This is one of the best What's In My Bag episodes in a while. I'm not familiar with Allah-Las but will check them out now.
you should check out their weekly playlists on reverberationradio.com, always some good stuff on there

One of the best youtube series ever, to me at least.
Thanks guys for picking my "Echoes of Lennon" album. I never called it "new age" myself - maybe ambient, minimal, chill-out... any other word that has less crapola around it. Cheers!
Love the What's in my Bag series. It's basically a recommend list from great musicians with great taste in music.
One of the most underrated modern rock bands. Love these guys so much.
feels like that Spiritualized record is one of the most picked records in this series.
Tis a masterpiece

Really cool choices. Love that Primal Scream record. Bobby Gillespie would be a good guest to have on too. Great to hear Spaceman 3 get a mention as well

These guys have some really eclectic tastes...lots of African music, pre EBTG band, etc., but is it just me or does very little of the music they pick here sound like the music they make? Perhaps they're tired of doing the California/surf/garage thing.

these guys are responsible for Reverberation Radio right?, would make sense those playlists are tight!
I listened to a lot of Reverberation Radio going backwards in time from the beginning of this year (just as they went on a long break hitting episode 399) and pretty much every album they showed here made it onto that podcast.
A really great group
Some top afro picks there..lijadu sisters, Onyeabor, masekala, WITCH. All brilliant.
You need to get Beck on here!! That'd be sick÷
That would be cool.
the last record is a beautiful listen. I think there's a track called Minor Bird. it's all really great
Saw these guys last winter. Pedrum is one cool dude.
Each episode becomes more and more an episode of Portlandia (via Los Angeles). Some interesting finds, but the obscurity of some and the knowledge behind each has comedy gold written all over it.
those are some pretty unique & obscure albums.
Ariel Pink was at a Spiritualized show? My day is made!!! That guy has amazing taste in music
Now I know where all those rarities from Reverberation radio are from ;)
allah-las: one of the best band in the world. the band with the best music taste in the world. Ps sonic flower goove is the best Primals album
Nice African beats, so glad when see so open minded musicians, far from them own genre of music.
You skipped Kevin Ayers!
did he said 2.99?? the perfumed garden it's an amazing record!
Julian Cope was never in Echo and The Bunnymen.
langerlord As I remember reading, for a brief moment they were a band that never happened called The Crucial Three: Cope, McCulloch and Pete Wylie(three massive ego's)...... Correct me if I'm wrong.

I watch to find out what some of my favorite artists listen to lol. Either that or to find out bands that sound a certain way, and their influences.
It's different things to different people. In making the show, we discover new sounds from our guests all the time.
Do you never like what your favorite artists listen to? I always check out what my favorites listen to because that's the best way to find new music with a similar sound as far as I'm concerned.

oh this shit is staged? i thought you just ran into them at your store
the one guy talking Shit about people discovering music on here should at least pick something up himself ,seeing as how basic of a taste he has.
Very low class dig at beefheart. A guy in a glorified elevators tribute band should not be critiquing beefhearts originality.
It is obvious that Captain Beefheart was inspired by Howling Wolf, so it wasn't a critique you snowflake, he just stated a fact, Beefheart was a massive blues fan.
What the fuck are you so butthurt over? He never even insulted beefheart
