- A few days ago, the Cardano blockchain went under a malicious DDoS attack where an attacker started to spam the network with scripts to try and slow down the network and stop it from working.
It failed with the attacker losing out the most in the end!
This video breaks down what happened and how the Cardano community came together to come up with a solution and stop the attack from happening.

And did a fantastic job of it too. The chain is resilient to this type of attack and has ample of room to be tweaked for further scaling.

This really needs to be looked into much deeper... imo it seems there's more to this than what we are seeing at surface level.... what are the possibilities that this wasn't staged by those who offered the solution? Just a thought...

Not sure actually. I read that in some States in the US, is illegal to perform a DDoS and is a punishable offence

Doesnt this also mean that they can do this to anyone they wanted to for whatever reason they want?
Anyone can DDoS any network, website etc. It's just a matter of cost, time and resources. Solana gets DDoS and their network goes down, banks get DDoS and no one can access websites etc. The important thing to note is that Cardano transactions kept powering on. People still kept on trading although it was just a lot slower than normal.
$250/hr for 12 hours is only $6k
Yes it was a very cheap attack by putting in a vulnerability into their script that doesn't perform any validation checks.

I don't think you understood what happen. You hear DDOS and you think multiple computer attack the network... what really happened was the attacker made a bunch of wallets and performed a bunch of transactions at once. Which can be done to EVERY blockchain. It is how you defeat such attacks that makes it web3. In this case. By stealing their funds lol
