Love the vintage studios! This one is an Icon.
Most people have no idea where Muscle Shoals is. But it’s one of the best known studios in the world! Particularly the south! Real music made here by real people in extremely confined areas!! On very rare equipment!! If you listen to an old 8 track tape, it was recorded on similar equipment! But made a sound that echoes today on iPhones, in cars and in Arenas.

Oh WOW! I have a good friend who worked for that studio. He's a sound guy and he's best friends with Johnson's son. They were the sound riggers and producers for live shows, and sometimes the studio when. I'm going to pass this on to him so he can fact-check it. 😜I'm sure he'll get a kick out of it. He's not feeling very well atm, so seeing that old board may help keep his mind off of it. I'm sure he used it many times. Thanks so much again Jeff and Sara!

@@jbenziggy Two points of trivia: In the photo with Lynyrd Skynyrd is Cassies Gains, who was also tragically killed in the plane crash. And the photo of Duane Allman with the gold-top Gibson Les Paul guitar, that photo was used to forensically identify that guitar after it was located in a pawn shop in Florida. It's now on display at the "Big House" museum in Macon, GA. The inlays on the fretboard are like finger prints - no two are alike. This photo helped positively identify that gold top. Very cool.

My friend Noel owned it when I was there. I stayed there in 2003 for a bit. When he had it, the downstairs was an apartment. I spent many nights on that couch listening to music all night. That place just had a cool buzz about it. Met some cool musicians in the few years I'd go down there. Hung out with Pete Carr at his house, Jimmy Johnson had a band he brought in to record, Bobby Whitlock, probably a few more I forgot..lol..it was over 20 years ago. If the buildings are still out back, I helped paint them. They were the same color as the studio building.

Nice! I was fortunate enough to have gone to school across the river at UNA during the late 60's and early 70's---when a lot of the really classic music was being recorded there...played in a band with a future session musician and "Swamper"... it was an awesome experience

I went on that tour, and that guy was our guide as well. An amazing place. If you are in this area, and you are a music fan, do it. It’s incredible. We got some really cool stories about Donna Godchaux. She was on Chers first album and is in that photo in front of the building. Her and her husband, Kieth, ended up in the Grateful Dead. Really cool place, and cool people. Goose bumps kinda stuff.

I graduated high school in 1969, so many of the clips you played were known to me, but rarely did I associate the singers/bands with the music on the radio. Still, I enjoyed seeing the place where so much magic was made, & your excitement at being there was palpable (sorry Dad)!

My dad doesn't get excited about much except eagles on poles and such! LOL. All kidding aside, he is very interested in the world, not rock and roll history!

Very cool to see the place so many great songs were recorded. I had a similar experience at Criteria Studios in Miami, Fla. assisting for a photo shoot there.
