- In Star Wars, it seems StormTroopers just can't aim properly, why is this? Are they really that bad? In Revenge of the Sith they were lethal, so what happened in A New Hope?

They can aim very good, they had to miss, so they didn't kill the main actors. But whith non important Rebels, they killed them easily.

They also miss Luke and the others in Empire Strikes Back because Vader had a trap for Luke planned, and actually ordered them not to interfere, just make it look good. And in Return of the Jedi, the troopers at the Endor base were instructed to lose the battle, so the shield could be destroyed and lure in the rebel fleet... So Palpatine could spring his trap. In every case where they constantly miss or lose to the main characters, they're under orders to do so.
Well, it's basically this philosophy... You may get lucky and not get hit by the rebels, and you live. Or... You can either get a quick clean death by rebel blaster... or a slow force choke by Lord Vader... Which death do you choose? Shooting to miss, and hoping not to get hit was their best alternative. At least if the rebels killed them it would be over fast.

Also we see that rebels were crushed in the end. The Rogue one crew was almost crushed before rebel fleet arrived and reinforced them. Then they got crushed again. So yeah... storm troopers were competent even with element of surprise on rebels side.
And when elite troopers(black) came in it was game over soon.
Also on Hoth led by Darth Vader troopers did beat rebels I would say easily. Without orbital support they had means to do it and did.

They actually provide enhanced visibility to the storm trooper. They have a special recognition system so that only the assigned user can use the helmet effectively. Stolen helmets only allow you to see through the limited visor, and have none of the other electronic benefits.

Considering that they were introduced in the era of where movies such as Rambo were out, I think it's safe to say they can aim, but due to plot, they can't hit shit.

Actually its more a popular cultural believe, that the Stormtroopers were so bad at aiming. I would just say that the Stormtroopers on the first Death Star weren't that good, because I think, they weren't the best soldiers but more the helpful staff who were kind of surprised to have action within the Death Star, because they just want to work there.

He says "only storm troopers are this accurate" -- in light of the fandom and so many missed shots, I've grown to think Obi-wan was being sarcastic in that moment. As in "only storm troopers are this inaccurate. The sand people would have hit more targets and missed by less distance."

These are reasons
1. HUD distracts (if you recruit or because of explosions)
2. Hip firing (they're not aiming down sights in movies & shows)

Poor technique leads to only firing from the hip. Firing from the hip leads to poor aim, poor aim leads to missing targets. The helmets make it difficult too.
There is a stock, it folds in and out. The weapon actually has very good sights. The Stormtroopers helmets have a HUD allowing them to have enhanced aiming, even when from the fist.
lol, uh no. The helmet is a glorified pair of sunglasses with a built in comm. The only time we see fancy stuff in helmets is in video games for immersion and suspension of belief.
I'm pretty sure the use of helmets is touched on in the EU, but because Disney is too lazy to keep the parts of the EU that give useful information that isn't important enough for the movie, canon, we have to just guess what's true.

Nah. Their helmets were actually really enhanced and Stormtroopers can specialize them for specific missions. You can see Rex and Luke skywalker complaining about not being able to see a thing because they have built-in anti-theft software that blackouts the inside parts of the helmet, making it almost impossible to see. So their helmets are definitely not the issue.

He wanted to convert Luke to the dark side and use his friends to do so.

Well, according to Rex in _Star Wars: Rebels,_ the problem is the helmet. He couldn't see properly while wearing it. As soon as he chucked it away, he could shoot properly again.

No, the helmets have a really god HUD that provides even infrared vision. The reason all the characters who equip a stormtrooper helmet say they can't see anything is due to the fact that these enhancements are all disabled

Another reason is possibly the fact that they don't aim! They aimed more when they were intentionally missing than when they wanted to hit them. They just hip fire!

I've seen a theory in which it's said that Stormtroopes miss their targets because it's all part of a plan. Vader doesn't want Leia, Luke or Han all dead. He wants all of then so that the power of the empire can grow, since they're excellent warriors.
There's people in the real world who've been through mutiple theaters of war and live to tell the tale. Who never got shot, even in ridiculous scenarios. Why does this happen? Some would call it the inevitable statistical outcome, others the "Will of the Force".

They can aim, but where ordered not to so the rebels could escape the Death Star with the Millennium Falcon, that had a tracking beam on it. Stormtroopers are part of the most trained armies in the galaxy. And stormtroopers and clonetroopers are different things.
The reason they didn't aim correctly in the other scenes was because the movie directors didn't want the main characters to die. But seriously, I can't believe that energy blades actually was a Jedi's main weapon. I mean, a very skilled leader would direct fire from all around the jedi at once. I also think the telekinises part of the force was to underused. I mean, if you just focused on that part, you could break everyone's neck.
We can see that just because everyone is firing upon one figure with a lightsaber, they're still capable of winning. Also, when it comes to breaking a neck, the amount of concentration and power one would need would be absurd. It's just not how it works

What If Obi wan never lost his conscious when being pushed by Dooku in revenge of the sith? Would Anakin have still killed Dooku? What would have happened? Please do a video about this I'm very curious what would happened
Joel Bergström Palpatine either wouldn't say anything or he would still tell Anakin to kill Dooku. Then Obi wan would say "Anakin no!" Then Palpatine would reply "He is too dangerous to be kept alive!" Then Obi wan would say " That is not your place to decide, the senate will decide his fate." Then Palpatine will shut up and try to rebound later on.
Greivous will still capture them. Then Dooku will escape and thank Grievous. Anakin and Obi wan will still brake free then Greivous will escape and launch all the escape pods. Dooku will get two robotic hands and will be on Utapau with Grievous. Then Dooku will announce that Palpatine betrayed him and expose that he is Sidious.
When the jedi find this out Mace, Fisto, Obi wan, Tin, the other master who fought Sidious last time, and Yoda will hunt for Sidious. But by then he will be on the run and Dooku will either back off and just control seperatist space or use the situation to his advantage and attack the Republic during the confusion. Sidious will look for Dooku first for revenge but will call for order 66 to stop the jedi. Many jedi will die but with Mace, Obi wan, Anakin, and Yoda with the other jedi the clones will lose on Coruscant on the groub then they will bombard the temple from space. The jedi will be forced to still hide and many will still be killed if they were already in combat.
The CIS will win most of the battles they were already in and Dooku will spread the separatist leaders out for their own good. Sidious will attack Dooku and Grievous for revenge. They will put up a good fight but he will kill them both then escape which will also destabilize the CIS. Both sides will be in turmoil but Yoda and Mace will track down Sidious and kill him. While Anakin and Obi wan help jedi survivors fight off clones.
The CIS leaders will stop attacking once they pick off the Republic forces in the outter rim (and some of the mid rid) but the jedi will keep fighting clones in the rest of the galaxy. Local rebellions will attack the Republic from within and will aid jedi in combat. The clone armies biggest edge will be its fleets and it will still control most Republic worlds. Jedi will fight from hidden bases with poorly armed rebels. The fight will go on for a year but clones will struggle to fight rebels with numbers spread thin even with new batches coming out each year, the Republic still relied on militia support in the past.
Anakin and Obi wan will gather a fleet of various supporters to attack Kamino. When the battle occurs Anakin and Obi wan will find a way to deactivate the chips. When that happens the war ends but the Republic will also have collapsed at this point. The CIS will be its own government at that point and some planets may just stay independent after that. A New Republic will also be made but the rules will be amended and Anakin will help rewrite them.
They really need to make alternate universe star wars games.

Thanks. Star Wars has so many possibilities. They could even make a sequel to it as well, if interested listen up.
The Separatists become a corrupt government run by corporations that exploits the people still enforced by droids. They make a new cool type of battledroid that looks more like a bronze soldier and they can take more shots before they drop, are smarter, and more accurate but are less numerous. Though there are still billions of them outnumbering republic forces 5 to 1 still. They have super strength but still use commando droids with red stripes and managuards with purple stripes.
They stop using spider droids and replace AATs with blue hover tanks that fire powerful green shots. They make vulture droids more advanced and color them black and yellow. They make new cis frigates that are upgraded that are longer. Dreadnaughts become wider and more massive and get painted grey. CIS have new shielded advanced fighters and and SBDs are gone.
The new droids are a balance of SBDs and b1s with better aim. This time the standard droids are better than the most human soldiers and are still mass produced. Most clones have died of old age but now the Jedi are more powerful and more like grey Jedi. The Republic however does not want a war so they let the CIS do what they do out of fear of another large scale conflict. Anakin ends up deciding to fight with the Resistance in Separatist territory to stop them and takes some volunteers with him.
At this point Luke and Leia are young padawans (we will say 16 years old) but Anakin asks them to stay behind and train. Luke and Leia end up secretly following their father out of curiosity. You play as Luke and Leia while they trick their Jedi master supervisor to go to the outer rim and he follows along ready to take them back to Coruscant. They end up on an adventure battling CIS leaders, freeing slaves, making friends, and helping the Resistance in a very tough fight. The Resistance was losing until Anakin joined and started turning the tide as Revan did long ago. So CIS leaders makes a weapon that can destroy the force in one blow and Anakin has no idea, it's up to his children to save the day.
But this weapon not only gets their attention. Snoke finds out and investigates. He comes in during the last mission and tries to seduce Luke and Leia after killing the master who was supposed to be their supervisor, until Anakin comes unexpectedly at the last minute. Anakin battles and kills Snoke and with the super weapon destroyed the CIS surrenders and is dissolved by the people. It's territories either remain independent, form small bands of alliances, or join the Republic.

Contrast that with controllers. People can't even decide if you are supposed to move the analog sticks up to look down or down to look down.

I actually think the real explanation is far more simple than the force being involved:
1) Luke in Episode 4: "I can't see a thing in this helmet!" Visibility due to the skull-like design of the helmets was very poor.
2) Empire went for intimidation rather than function and quantity over quality. (Also why none of the TIE fighters had shields, they relied on sheer numbers rather than skilled pilots.)
3) Episode 7 gives us a clue: FINN shows us that the storm troopers had to under brain-washing in order to be mindless drones for the empire. So a lot of the time dedicated to training all of the non-clone Storm Troopers was much more brain washing and much less battle tactics and strategy. The empire just wanted hordes of mindless soldiers to do their bidding (See point #2).
Reminds People's Liberation Army of China. They spend like 30% of training time on political propaganda. Reading propaganda texts, songs and shit like that :D Also dictatorial armies have problem with small quad tactics due to rigid line of command and uninformed regular troops.

The Empire didn't brainwash Stormtroopers. They didn't have to. Stormtroopers were paid _really_ well, people did it for the benefits. Also, most people in the empire didn't see it as evil (for most, not a lot changed after the transition from the Republic)
The First Order had to brainwash their troops because they were a splinter political faction without the enormous resources of the Empire. Their Stormtroopers are mostly child soldiers kidnapped from their families, which necessitates the conditioning.
I know Episode VII did a shit job explaining what exactly the First Order is, but they're not the Empire. Not even close.

For first order, I don’t think firing a extremely bright laser in front of a ton of troopers, and some officers without any visible eye protection helps their case
Here's my theory, pre video: the troopers were designed for blitzing tactics, hence the name. So aiming wouldn't be essential as moving forward under fire. Hence they are poor marksmen.

wouldn't really work as stormtroopers are the core of the empire. They are the arms of the empire whether it be punching, blocking, or grabbing/controlling. As genius as palpatine is he wouldn't train all 18849024958403 of them to be blitzing soldiers like the real stormtroopers who suicided trenches in ww1. Sure, the name suggests otherwise and yes they are based off real-life stormtroopers but the connection is weak as the whole original trilogy had inspiration from ww2, where Germany was supposed to inspire the empire. They couldn't draw any sci-fi-fi like names or names that couldn't already be specified to be a certain role with a nation-specific name so they went with stormtroopers which sounds cool as well. one other thing. if u watch the originals, you see that when its ordinary rebels, the storm troopers are quite lethal. of course this comes down to plot armour protecting our protagonists, but i like your canon explanation to it as well

The only time they were "precise shooters" is when they were aiming at a sandcrawler......which is nearly impossible to miss as it is several stories tall.

It was pretty clear in the OT that blasters were clumsy and inaccurate like muskets and would almost always miss unless fired at nearly point blank range, and Obi Wan called blasters clumsy and random in A New Hope. Only in later stuff did they become perfectly accurate killing machines.

There was one man - a highly skilled and intelligent one - who spent years fighting right along side the clones during the war. He would know them better than most anyone else. Obi-Wan. "These blast points, too accurate for Sand People. Only Imperial Stormtroopers are so precise."
This is the ONLY canon reference there is to go by on either side of the spectrum. There is not a single character - including all the main ones that escape every time - that has ever said "Yeah they can't aim at all."
There is definitely something else at work here, and using plot armor as an excuse is just plain lazy. Regular rebels, ewoks, etc are hit by troopers just fine on most occasions. Why not anyone more important to the story?
The Force chooses no sides, it is simply the Force. It has its own will and it seeks balance. The Prophecy was that Anakin would bring Balance. In a galaxy led by the Jedi, and the Sith long since forgotten, this came true by bringing the Sith and the Dark Side back.
And I can sum up my points in this very elegant, but simple, bulleted list:
1. Vader allows them to escape the Death Star. No casualties allowed. Obi-Wan chooses to stay, knowing he will die. His death makes Luke stronger.
2. The only Force sensitive pilot is the one to hit the mark on the Death Star. Obi-Wan makes Luke trust in himself to make him stronger.
3. Luke is attacked by a wampa. He tries to reach his lightsaber without the Force first, before trusting in his ability. Only due to the Force was he able to escape at the last second. Only after this event is he told to seek Yoda for more training. Where he is shown the Force can do anything.
4. Luke's speeder is shot during the battle, not exploding like all the others, but coasting into the snow where he is uninjured. Now instead of using high technology to win, he must use his own abilities and tools, much like the Death Star battle.
5. Luke survives impossible odds again, so that he can receive Force training from one of the most powerful Jedi to live... with 800 years of experience at that.
6. Luke has grown stronger under Yoda and receives a vision through the Force which rips him from his training despite Yoda's objections.
7. His strength is tested against the powerful dark side user Darth Vader. He escapes carbon freezing only by his connection with the Force to leap free. He is unable to block or avoid anything Vader tosses at him, however none of these attacks would be life threatening anyway.
8. Instead of killing him, and ending the light side threat to the Empire, Vader disarms him and then allows him to escape.
9. Luke is stronger now as he visits Jabba the Hutt, allows himself to be trapped with the Rancor, and makes a likely Force assisted throw. He again escapes confinement due to his strength in the Force by leaping up and over enemies to catch his lightsaber - either through the Force or perfect mathematical calculations by an astromech droid.
10. During descent to the forest moon, Vader is able to sense Luke's presence and blow the Rebel's secrecy. Is this the first time that the Force has worked against Luke? No. The trap had already been laid, with false information fed to the Rebels well in advance.
11. The heroes are captured by the ewoks. They only escape because of the Force. Luke is able to lift C-3PO to "prove" his godliness. If Luke had been rendered unconscious, like with the wampa, or otherwise had been taken somewhere else, everyone dies.
12. Luke meets his father again, and neither agrees to defect. Vader again allows Luke to live. Maybe at the Emperor's demand, maybe not.
13. Luke is able to hold his own in a duel with the powerful Darth Vader, despite having very little training with the lightsaber. This is achievable because of all the trials Luke has endured in the past few years while Vader's progress was halted.
14. Luke wins the duel due to his strength in the Force, but does not kill Vader for emotional reasons. This in turn is the same thing that allows Vader to finally turn on the Emperor. If Vader does nothing, Luke dies, and the mantle of Hero of the Galaxy may fall to Leia, who has a much weaker connection to the Force, and thus would not make a good candidate to shift the Balance back. Instead, the Dark is extinguished yet again.
"It surrounds us and penetrates us; it binds the galaxy together." The Force does not seek CONSTANT Balance - it is everywhere, moving, changing, adapting. Instead of a swing hanging lifeless, unmoving, balanced, it shapes the world around it. The Force is the gust of wind that moves the swing forward, then backwards, then forwards again.
During their reign, "the Jedi were keepers of the peace." They always seek out evil to destroy it. They negotiated compromises mostly. Balance. When the Sith took over, billions of lives were wiped out, planets decimated of life and resources, and a planet-destroying super weapon built in a matter of decades. Simply, The Sith brought much more Dark in a few years' time with hidden Jedi than the Jedi brought Light in 1000 years with hidden Sith. After the Force was done with the Emperor, it allowed Luke to grow more - start a school to train new Jedi, the galaxy was happy. Oppressed peoples were given life. Slaves and fearful Imperials were free to start over. The Galaxy had seen such darkness that light was coming back in a whole new way. And it was all happening far too fast to maintain the Balance. Enter Kylo Ren. The Force strengthens him - aids him in turning some of his fellow students to the Dark. More than an ambush - it's a trap. Luke is allowed to live once more, through the Will of the Force. But he doesn't pursue Kylo like he did Vader or the Emperor. He stays in Ahch To. Alone. In Balance. He had done good by training Force sensitives, but he also unleased Kylo Ren on the galaxy. His strength of youth has left him, much like Obi-Wan so many years before, and a new, younger person is growing with the Force, mirroring Luke himself. Obi-Wan was the previous target of the Force. So powerful with the Light, but unable to end Anakin's life. And if Obi-wan had been killed, there would be no one to hide Luke, watch over him, and train him for the Force. Luke, now the old hermit, plays the role of teacher of the next generation. A new tool for the Force to use to find it's Balance. With the Dark Side much stronger now, the Force will again try to Balance itself. But this time, Luke will be working for the Force rather than with it.
And that is why Stormtroopers can't shoot the good guys.

Also thought about something else more - While Anakin was born as the Chosen One, he was trained by Obi-Wan per Qui-Gon's dying wish. Maybe Qui-Gon was too brash for the Force to allow him to train Anakin, and the council would hate Qui-Gon for taking him in, had he survived. Obi-Wan needed this push, this loss, to prove himself to the Force, defeat Darth Maul, and be the one survivor of the battle. The only one that could properly train Anakin. Obi-Wan is the reason Anakin was so strong and brought Balance to sway to the Dark. Then he trained Luke to bring the Balance back towards the Light. But we did see Obi-Wan get shot by a blaster in the Clone Wars. But it wasn't by a Stormtrooper and it was to fake his death haha

It's gotta be that armor though. Rex, the clone captain who could stand toe to toe against numerous Sith warriors, had to slap on some Stormtrooper armor to go undercover in the Rebels series and he could barely hit a single target when push came to shove.

The evolution of armor and advanced resilient materials pushed blaster development. The nature of blaster bolts led to reduced effective ranges and the need for massed troops. Similar to unrifled muskets.
