Today I read the sad news that the body of the Ukrainian children's book writer Volodymyr Vakulenko was identified among the many found in the Izium mass graves.
He had been abducted from his home on 24 March, after he and his father were beaten up the previous day, probably by "LPR" terrorists. It appears he was shot with at least two 9mm bullets from a Makarov handgun.
Apparently writers of children's books pose a great threat to russkiy mir.
I offer my condolences to Volodymyr's loved ones and to all Ukrainians for losing another bearer of Ukrainian culture. He will live on in the stories he told.

Hi Anna, economist here. The sanctions will work and will be devastating. Unfortunately though they take time. They are only ever supposed to be a part of the solution of course but the damage that’s coming is genuinely going to shock people once it all filters through. Russia had a huge amount of foreign currency reserves to insulate themselves but that’s almost all gone now. Once that is gone they have absolutely no way of funding anything. Nobody will lend them anything and they can’t import anything. It will continue to look as if nothing is really happening and then it will hit overnight. It’s just like any economic disaster like the 2008 financial crisis - on the Monday all is well but by the Friday the whole world is screaming. Same thing is coming, it just needs maybe 6 more months

    • @beachbum77979

Word has it that the thinking of the military establishments of Western countries, including the U.S. Pentagon, is evolving. To date, Ukrainian forces were supplied with Western missiles attached to conditions that they were not to be targeted to Russian territory. That, I believe, is beginning to change out of necessity. It's *quite possible* that Western suppliers of weapons would give the okay to allow their supplies, including missiles, to be used *only on military targets* in Russia, particularly the Russian military bases involved in this conflict and the Russian lines of military logistics. It is suspected that such a pivot in strategy would end this war *much more rapidly.*

Speaking about keeping up the pressure... The last little while I’ve been trying to wrap my head around this (and it’s actually really starting to bother me now)...
And this is all about the lack of people online so much as even talking about what is going on in Ukraine in any sense or from any viewpoint?!?
I mean, there’s literally only about 10 people on UA-cam here that are actually known to the world (and not widely known) who are coming on regularly and describing what is happening in all the various places and with different angles of this war against them!! I’m shocked that there aren’t more individuals like Anna, Denys, the guy from Insights, even Starsky (though he’s a military press officer)! Even the few others are from elsewhere in the world! Like what’s wrong with that picture?!? You would think in this day and age and with all of these people suffering under such barbaric conditions that they’d be screaming out all of this to the world so that it absolutely must be known by far more people...
It’s just not right and very strange when I think about it.

I'd hate to say it, but the orcs are being very strategic and smart when it comes to their missile strikes. They know they have a limited amount of missiles, so they are going to sit tight and wait and only launch their missiles when your power and water infrastructure is almost fully repaired. This gives the orcs more "rubble for their ruble" so to speak."It's simply cost efficient, a sound tactic. It seems we in the West just give Ukraine enough military support to virtue signal " we did our part". I am in the military and have been for 22 years, this war has exposed how bad orc tactics, senior leadership, mid level NCO leadership , combined arms, and equipment really are. Russian military doctrine is bad..really bad. We are realizing they are not ten foot tall supermen. Yes, military aid should be increased, I can tell the frustration in your voice. Putin won't stop until he is afraid of his own people, however the Russian people just go along and stay out of politics, the Iranian women need to teach the Russian population at large. how to have let's say, cajones...

I know it is difficult, but also the sanctions will work: they take time, sadly, and this is also why Putler is So desperate to demoralize and scare You with those terrorist attacks... I completely agree with you about the indifference and inaction of politicians in the West. I even think you're too polite and nice. It's time to finally say that Germany is the Kremlin's political base in Europe. When I hear that in Germany, in France, in the Benelux countries, the authorities are tired of the war in Ukraine, it pisses me off. They haven't even helped yet and they're already tired. What are they tired of ? The fact that fuel is more expensive, that coffee is more expensive ? Let them sit for a few days without electricity, water and heating, or in a trench near Bakhmut. What slimy and stuffed worms. It's all reminiscent of Munich in 1938. When the most prosperous countries (Great Britain and France) tried to appease Hitler, at the expense of Czechoslovakia. Winston Churchill On Neville Chamberlain, shortly after Hitler's infamous "appeasement", September 29, 1938, Munich: “You were given the choice between war and dishonour. You chose dishonour and you will have war.” May the world be wiser this time. Bandits and criminals understand only the language of hard power. Do not try to appease the criminals, you will certainly fail. If Ukraine didn't fight, it would no longer exist, and all Ukrainians remaining alive would sing the ruzzian anthem. This did not happen, because the Ukrainians put up a stiff resistance and destroyed the ruzzian army. Entire.

The answer to why sanctions don't work effectively is complex, but the main reason is that they were prepared for them. Their average oligarch controls many off-shore structures, in normal times he used them to launder money and now to buy banned goods and technology.
Also, NATO and EU decisions are based on voting and one member on the southwestern border of Ukraine is strongly in favor of the pootin and is trying everything to slow down all negotiations, voting and the processes that follow.
For this reason, the Magninsky Act was approved by Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic in October this year. This new law can help us sanction individuals or organisations that for some reason have not been on the international list. I know that this law will not change anything in Ukraine in the coming weeks, but it will weaken their local helpers.

Thank you for your message, Anna! I continue to gain value and understanding about the war from your streams. It seems to me that Ukraine must keep on fighting for its freedom from the unjust Russian attack until they simply leave and return to the 1991 borders. What would cause the Russians to leave? I shared my view of this with another UA-cam vlogger I've been following for a couple of years. Maybe you know of him. His name is Konstantin Samoilov. His channel, Inside Russia. He's not in Russia anymore but went to Uzbekistan when mobilization began. He's been to Ukraine, worked in Ukraine, lived Ukraine, and likes Ukraine. He opposes his country's war in Ukraine vehemently. He recently did a stream about the "Z" people in his country to help people understand this phenomenon. He's despondent about the future and I told him that I feel the only solution is for the young people of Russia to speak up and force a change in their government and end the war. I also told him that my hope was that you and he could at some point in the future have tea at a cafe in Lutsk and discuss how to create better relations between your two countries. Слава Україні!

When Russia annexed Crimea in 2014, they broke the treaty set out in Budapest in 1994 between Russia, the United States, Great Britain, and Ukraine. That treaty insured Ukraine's security and territorial integrity in exchange for Ukraine giving up its nuclear stockpile. However, the UK and US broke it as well because they were signatories guaranteeing Ukrainian security. US and British troops should have been on the ground in Ukraine after Russia annexed Crimea to enforce the 1994 Treaty.

    Great video Anna.
The message below is for the people posting nonsensical solutions to this horrible conflict.
It's real easy for non-Americans to say "send longer range weapons that can hit Russia."
Putin is unstable, and backed into a corner. Sanctions take years, not months to work, but they do work.
I live minutes away from the 2nd largest US Navy base in the United States.
Three nuclear aircraft carriers are visible in the bay. The west coast nuclear weapons stockpile is here. The US Marines west coast base is 40 minutes up Interstate 5 from my home. The US Seal base is here. Point Loma nuclear submarine base is here. San Diego is a major military manufacturing hub in the US.
We are at ground zero. I personally am not interested in being nuked, or disabling the United States west coast military forces if Putin launches nukes.
Smarter men than I are managing this military dance on a razor blade.
It is a delicate balance between saving Ukrane, which we will do, and stopping a mad man from starting WWIII.
Let these men manage the situation. They trained all their lives for situations like this.
Without the U.S. NATO will fall. If NATO falls, Europe will fall.
Those in the peanut gallery that are not in Ukraine, should have some patience.
No one on earth wins in a nuclear war.

Sanctions against Russia have long term effects: they are extremly efficient, but need time: example, after Renault stops all in Russia, the russian automobile industry is quasi destroyed...the sanctions from 2014 after invasion from Crimea did stop the modernisation from russian armaments, this explain why they not have lot of T14 armata tanks and SU57 and 75 who need lot of western technology; even some modernisation on T80 and T90 tanks need western equipments, and all the ruzian civilian aircraft and space ndustry is heawy impacted from the sanctions...And for the energy (gaz and petrol,) now, the western countries found new supplyers and does not need Russians energy exports, the only bad effect is the rise from the prices, but it's only partialy caused from the 2022 ruzian invasion, the most is caused from speculation...
