    I personally am ok with whatever content you put out at this point lol. Don't feel like you can only put out crochet content. Even some behind the scenes or you trying out new things in your free time are all videos I'd happily watch. That way you can put as much time as you want into individual projects.

    For any Ami, it is recommended to use 2 hook sizes smaller than the recommended size for your yarn! I usually use a 3-3.5mm for my projects with worsted weight!

    Pipe cleaners for amigurumi stability! If you don't have another spare crochet hook lol

    I have used a hot glue stick for the neck of my dolls. It helps to keep the head straight. You also want to really stuff the dolls as tight as you can. Love watching you create. 💗

    I like your ideas to make different kinds of content this year, it feels even more like we are just hanging out. The crochet is great but I’m here for the happy vibes.

    a good trick i learned about making the neck more sturdy is by adding a felt tube in the neck, and stuffing the head pretty generously. it's definitely been a game changer for me when crocheting dolls!

    I've seen some people use curlers that they put into the neck to make it sturdier.

    it came out good and look forward to see what you make in the future! I also sew down the hair with the same color of yarn to make it stay in place and it works. For neck support I use to use a thick metal wire but recently I swapped to using a wooden dowel wrapped in quilting batting and it works wonderfully! (also yes I can see the reference to Robert lol) Another thing I learned from a different person who does Amigurumi is a good way to figure out what hook to use is to use a hook size 2 sizes smaller than the suggested size for the yarn. It doesn't work all the time but it does give me a starting point to figure out if i should go a size smaller or bigger based on how tight the stitches are

    Super cute! This was a fun watch! I have a bunch of these kits that my husband and kids have been buying me for Christmas and birthday fr a few years (Star Wars, Marvel, Peanuts, Friends, Winnie The Pooh) but didn't know a Stranger Things one was released! I have not had time to try any of the kits yet, plus with a very small home full of kids stuff I have nowhere to put all the finished projects. I assumed we would have moved by now and I'd have a craft room to display them in, but with the way housing and wages are in Canada/Ontario now I'm not sure we'll ever be able to move. Guess I should break out the kits anyway. Thanks for the inspiration!

    I feel like every time I watch anybody make amigurumi they make it look so easy, nice and relaxing - meanwhile I’ve had the same exact experiences as you. 💀 mad respect to anybody that can make amigurumi.

    Hi. You did good for your first amigurumi. I thought the same thing as you about the Robert doll.🫣 I think his head was floppy because the neck was too small for that head. 😅 Some people recommend making a crocheted support cylinder and inserting in the neck. You crochet in the round depending the width of the neck. Your idea with the metal crochet hook worked. 👍 You pronounced the word amigurumi correctly by the way. ❤ Keep it up. You get better with practice.😊

    Dunno if anyone commented this yet, but a tip you might want to do for the rest of the dolls in this set is to get a set of cheap foam covered flexible curlers from the dollar tree if you can find them, and have one of those in the neck and stuff around it to keep the doll's head upright. Your doll came out great! Not at all bad for a first doll project.

  • @kristalburns3490
    @kristalburns3490 13 днів тому +2

    You did great! Yes you are supposed to attach his hair. Just sew it down. You are going to need more stuffing. You have to stuff firmly so you dont have the neck issue. These books arent too hand holdy in the areas where they should be. I have had some of these patterns where I have to think about what I am supposed to be doing. I think I am going to enjoy seeing these characters pop up every now and again on this channel.

    Super excited to see the rest of these little guys come to life, they look absolutely precious!! Also, amigurumi is a Japanese word, so it's pronounced as ah-me-goo-roo-me! You can also shorten it to Ami (ah-me)

  • @Lunabichi48
    @Lunabichi48 11 днів тому

    For Ami guru I it is best to use cotton yarn if available since it doesn’t stretch as much as acrylic, and that lack o stretch helps the result product look cleaner and sturdier in

    I’m on board for amigarumi filler content for sure. I’m looking forward to it. Congratulations on a job well done with your first doll. About 30 seconds before you said he had‘haunted doll’ vibes, I was thinking “Why does that doll look so angry? I wouldn’t sleep in the same room with that doll” which is weird because I usually love dolls. I think it was the lighting maybe, but he looks…cute but grumpy? Angy boy? But definitely cute, regardless.

    lol- I love how you said you were going to do a quick project and then made an entire doll. It came out super cute though!! And do whatever you have to in order to make projects you want to make. Honestly talking videos would be good for weeks when you want to focus on a bigger project too. Also- no Totoro? I miss her face!

    "There won't be much crocheting in this video"
    Me giggling knowing how long these dolls take with all the details.
    I definitely thought of you when I reviewed this kit on my channel.
    For the head/neck area you should pack more stuffing in there though when I was making the demogorgon I thought the neck was too skinny and it looked like this one was as well.
    For anyone reading this and wants to see another review of this kit I have one on my channel! :)

    Putting my row counter on my finger really annoys me too! What I do is instead of putting it on my pointer finger I put it on my thumb and just use my other thumb to press on the buttons. It feels a lot more comfortable and also doesn’t get in the way of my knitting and crocheting

    I used to make amigurumi a lot, but now i seem to have lost my taste for it.
    I think the problem is since I’ve been making wearables and larger projects lately, I expect the amigurumi to be done much faster because it’s smaller, But that’s not realistic the case 😅
    It’s also a little boring since it’s all single crochet.
    A lot of my amigurumi have floppy heads too, I’m an understuffer i guess lol
