In today’s episode, I am walking (and talking) you through Architectural Digest’s latest celebrity home tour: Emma Robert’s charming LA storybook home. Filled with a collection of curiosities and a mix of high-low vintage and modern customizations- AD 100’s Pierce & Ward did an incredible job of designing a personalized home that looks and feels like the client. Nothing feels too precious or pretentious in this hom. It’s cozy, it’s warm- it’s lived in. It’s the perfect combination of function and style in a beautifully curated space.
What is your favorite detail from today’s home tour? Did you agree or disagree with my opinions?

This was fun!! What celebrity home tours should I react to next?
Rupaul, Lenny Kravitz, Naomi Campbell, Dita Von Tesse( a maximalist dream), Justina Blakeney, Shonda Rhimes are very interesting.
Karen Gillan's home, also featured by Architectural Digest a few months ago, to build on homes designed by Pierce & Ward.
I saw her house. The designers had a blast. Thanks for your reaction!
Julie, do you think there could be art over her bed with a picture light? It's awesome how Emma has a wall of drapery for the bed and windows. I'm just wondering if that would make it better or just make it have more stuff. Let us know and I had no clue the draperies and upholstery were that costly. Thank You, G 😎
@@gregpendrey6711 I typically use drapery, fabric or wallcovering behind beds. Feng shui guides against any artwork or sculptural items behind the bed because the implication is that these items can "fall on you" even if they're securely attached to the wall. The combination of extruded items on a supported wall doesn't jive. Which is why I look for soft textiles or paper. The picture light would look lovely above the nightstand though!
Not my style. However, I’m only 10 min and I want to point out: You could walk through this home when no one is there and have a very good sense of the type of person who lives there. The home has a “voice.”
Too many homes these days are copy cat faux quiet luxury and don’t say anything about the owner.
Unpretentious, lived-in, homey, yet very polished. Loved every nook and cranny!
Her home says so much more about her personality than so many "famous people" homes. It looks comfortable and that you could sit down for a conversation in many areas.
And hear about her stories, both on and off film 😍
Awesome! You don't just see a beautiful expensive interior, you see the OWNER!
You can see she didn't just waved her hand to designers "Here, make me a bedazzling luxury home!" and went away for a year. No, she poured her heart into every corner, chose every little thing herself, knows every designer, every manufacturer, all the tiny stories behind her colectables.
Your style or not - it's the best lesson how to personalize your space!
I DO see the owner! Not only do I see her, I AM her! (or at least I want to be her living in this house it’s so dreamy lol 😍)
I love how the layout of the house was a normal size- it wasn't a McMansion at all!
Exactly! Warm and cozy, but I’m sure it’s still like 3000sf! 😂
As a fellow maximalist, this was really fun to see!
For sure! My eyes are still drooling 🤤
I love that her home screams her! There is so much to see. Your eyes bounce everywhere with excitement! I would pray none of those dolls wake up at night! Yikes!!!
This is HOW your home tells your story! I love how you could get lost in the memories of her childhood with all the special details… scary dolls included! 🙈😅
Emma Roberts' home is a perfect blend of sophistication and comfort, and I found myself drooling over every detail.
I felt the same way- like I NEED to make this video now!! 🤤
More of these types of videos, please. Love your commentary :)!
Thank you for watching and sharing feedback 🙏🏻💛
I'm pleasantly surprised. She has a beautiful taste. Exactly my style.
Love the Grandmillenial style.
I did watch Emma's home tour. I love watching Architectural Digest. I like the home tours but my favorite videos are when the three designers are given the same space to transform without any restrictions however they please. Then watch each designer's final reveal.
I love that show too! My gf Noz is on it 🥰🩷
@@JulieKhuu On their last design challenge Noz got my vote.
So excited you did this video!
Yay! Thank you Kassy! It was a fun one to watch and dissect. Her interior style very much speaks to my own personal aesthetic 😍
Reminds me of new England styled homes with darker hues in fabrics
I think that’s what I love about it- the country cottage feel 🫶🏻
I liked watching your cute lil face and reactions best, Julie Khuu! My next favorite was the ceiling in her son's bedroom and the bathroom floor tile. I would enjoy seeing you do more videos like this once in a while. :)
Haha thank you ☺️ it was a different style for this channel, thank you for watching and sharing feedback 🙏🏻💕
I loved this home. It's so charming and personal. I'm so glad that you added in your observations the feng shui aspect with regard to the mirrored fireplace.
Mirrors above a fireplace are great! Mirrors surrounding the fireplace, notsomuch. That fire element is no joke in Feng Shui! You don’t want to play with 🔥😬
Loved this video❤
Thanks so much! 🩷
I live for this type of content! My favorite part of the video was her collection. It made me so happy to see it on display. ❤ love your commentary too!
Mine too, I loved hearing about the choices both designers and client made in this home 🏡
I was surprised! It's beautiful!
So gorge! Such a livable space 😍
This tour was absolutely wonderful! Really enjoyed your facial expressions and reactions, Julie👌🏽 Emma's voice was so pleasing to listen to 😄
Haha thank you ☺️
Her home is so beautiful and really reflects her personality. Her design team really “understood the assignment” because Emma really seems to love her home.
Absolutely 👏🏻 All the while offering their own spin on things as well, a great collaboration
I loved this video Julie! I'm glad you don't do more. It made this one extra special. I really love all your videos.😊
Thank you so much Barbara! Like I said, I watch a lot of home tour. But I never feel like my commentary would be beneficial unless it focuses on details I’m already driving home on my channel 🩷
I really like her lighting choices from the table lamps to the wall fixtures. She has a nice easy style. Cozy is the right word for it. Good choice for a show and tell. I never look at home tours bc I am not interested in seeing styles that are not adaptable to my lifestyle. All marble this all glass that vaulted ceilings high end appliances. It’s a waste of my time. So I would not know which ones to choose to watch. I’m glad you chose this one! ❤🥰
AD Mag home tours are like old episodes of Oprah to me- even though I might not be interested in the style or subject or celebrity- I always take away a valuable tidbit 😉🫶🏻
I love the video Julie! You should do more like this (original & cosy homes). Also love that you integrate your feng shui principles in your explanations & designs. I see you every week! Thanks! (Cute trench coat by the way) ❤
Thank you Cynthia! I scrambled to make this video which is why I dropped it a day late. The home tour just went live and I was instantly smitten! I knew I had to make this video quickly 🤗
I can't decide if I love it or hate it!!! it's so different but well designed.
That’s the best compliment I think. You’re torn, it’s provocative 👏🏻
You know, whether this is your style or not, it’s undeniable that her home screams luxe yet cozy. It looks expensive and is. I think we all wanna achieve that - without the price tag of course!
I tried my best to offer design tips so you can bring this luxe look home! So many pieces can be thrifted or FB’d! So much style, loved it 😍
Enjoyed this tour a lot, especially your takes! Laughed out loud several times, it was fun! Also, I'll probably use a few things I saw....
It was a fun tour! So many cool ideas to adopt, even the collections! 😆
Love the kitchen island! I’ll be looking for it to buy❤
I linked it in the description box under kitchen island Leticia ☺️
Not at all my style, but classy and loaded with personality. I'm not into collecting a lot of things, but if I had that many dolls I would put them behind glass doors to keep them dust free. The doors could be left open during gatherings, parties, etc., to make them more accessible if desired, or maybe just put a few at a time on the open shelves. When I consider decor I'm always thinking about the dust and cobwebs stuff attracts.
I agree with your take, maintenance is a huge priority when displaying items. However, without doors or obstructions, you’re almsot encouraged to interact more with your treasures so I do like that aspect 😊
I love it 😍
Granny chic done right!! 💯👏🏻🩷
What a lovely home, unpretentious and lots of nostalgic touches. My kind of design aesthetic.
Me too! Unfussy and lived in- I would feel super comfortable there as a guest 🫶🏻
Her home is fab. Love so many different styles it was hard to pick one for myself so I enjoy seeing what other people chose. Getting to see how collecting can look charming was fun too.
“Charming” is my operative word in design this year! That’s what I’m aiming for 😍
Love her dool collections
And i love her house ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Love seeing anyone’s collections on display. I can listen to you talk for hours about the things you love 🩷☺️
I love Emma’s home, it’s so beautiful and livable and completely my style🥺
So CHIC!! 💛
Nice girl, cozy house. Interesting interpretation of her decorative choices.
Cozy cozy cozy!! Every choice reflects her keyword 👏🏻
I also have a vintage capiz shell globe like that that I found dumped for rubbish pickup about twenty years ago. Soon to be installed in my new house.
Timeless!! 🤩
Fun tour. At first, I thought the doll collection idea was so bizarre but I liked what you said about having things out that you enjoy and I had that western Barbie when I was young ( Drunk Barbie) 😂. I do have two collectible Barbie dolls in their boxes and now I want to find that one.
Haha I never even knew it existed! 🤪
I love your take on the elements of the house. I really loved the bathroom. I was perplexed by the kitchen, it just felt to small in general plus they put that island that made the kitchen feel claustrophobic. I just wanted to knock down a wall or two to make the space bigger and more functional.
It’s hard to understand the layout without a floor plan. Without the island, there’s a lot of empty space in the middle. You can tell they tried to make use of open space. It’s only Emma and her son living there- seems like a good size for a small family 💛
Hi. I enjoy all of your videos. Would you consider a video of the best sofa for a dining room table?
I have a video on best dining tables and best sectionals, let me round one up for sofas that work in the dining room 👍
@@JulieKhuu I appreciate your consideration and look forward to it!
Thank you I enjoyed the tour with your input. I really liked her son's room & the bathroom. I found some of her favs creepy, but we all have our preferences. Your advice is great.
The preferences can be swapped out- the collections and displays are what I live for! 👏🏻
I don't really watch celebrity homes as I find most of them too gaudy and not for daily living, but I sure like this one... very cozy country home designed simply yet elegant. Yes, reaction videos are fun.
Looks like a simple design, but when you get to all the details 🤪 you know it was a ton of effort which I love!
More reaction videos, please! I understand you feeling like we already consume a ton of both home tour videos and reaction videos, but this was very enjoyable and informative. I know these more casual and/or personalized videos don't get as many views on your channel, but they're much appreciated by those of us who don't have ongoing projects, don't actively need design tips, or are simply interested in what you have to say about things because we follow you. Sometimes you just want to get commentary from someone more experienced and feel entertained--you offer that in a very approachable and informative way.
Thank you for this constructive feedback Gaby! 🙏🏻🩷 Sometimes I get caught up in the knowledge and experience I want to offer you, and forget about the “fun” of design with videos like these! More coming up, thank you for your support and encouragement 🫶🏻
Hello Julie
I was worried about not getting the youtube notificacion for your videos 😅
This was a long one to film and edit Cecilia! 😆 Plus AD just came out with this home tour, I wanted to make sure I shared my commentary this week while the tour was hot 😉
Hey Julie, it sounds like you watched Chuckie a little too much in the Child's Play movies back in the day. Haha!
The trauma is REAL!! 🫣😬🤣
Hi Julia, I have 1 question what is Feng shui and how to decorate with it any tips or if u know any interior designer in toronto who can help
Hi Julie, off tangent here. Where did you get your top in this video please? Love it on you!!
Thank you! It’s a cropped trench by 7 for all mankind/ Nordstrom 😊
@@JulieKhuu Thank you very much!
Desk not facing door bad!
Not the best Feng Shui, but it looks to be facing the opening of the room- so, a solid compromise 👍
Hey Julie, this is fantastic to react at celebrity homes .could you react at Liv Tyler AD in her NYHome ? Please
Ooh I haven’t seen it, let me check it out. Thanks for sharing! 🙏🏻💕
Eclectic is the best explanation for her house. Way to expensive for the average home owner.
To be honest isn’t my style at all but doesn’t mean it’s beautiful done, I appreciate that.
I just loved because isn’t a gigantic, ostentatious place , it is like most of our homes a lot of personal belongings displayed everywhere 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 not a bare place ❤❤
I just like this type of content as well
Thanks Julie
Ps: dolls isn’t for me either 😂😂😂 specially the old ones just freaks me out 😂😂😂😂
Haha those doll booths at the antique markets always freak me out! 🙈 Some are beautiful to admire, but some eyes 👀 seem to follow you wherever you go, yikes! 😱
If she likes it that is all that matters.
Loved all her choices, even the ones I wouldn’t put in my own home! I love tours like these- filled with so much personality 👏🏻
Hi juila please please can you make video or reply me the comments which color furniture matching with black cabinets kitchen the homes look lighter’s And the living room is small not too big
Go tonal creams, whites, and tans to soften up the look and allow the black kitchen to become a statement! You can also layer on more color once the foundation is in place 🤍
@@JulieKhuu thank you so much for replying to my comment. Can use whites with gold ?
Who is Emma Robert’s? ♥️🇬🇧
She’s an actress (also Julia Robert’s niece)
Her house is amazing!!!!
Not extravagant and sterile like from other celebrities, you can see from these people that they came from nothing. Now trying to have everything, just to impress. Pathetic!!!!
Compare this to Dakota and her stupid staged limes and Sofia’s ostentatious monstrosity… I know next to nothing about Emma Roberts but I like her home a lot
lol I’ve seen Dakota’s - actually loved how cozy her home was as well, but I didn’t catch Sofia’s! The staging is typically done by AD and team. Not how we live sometimes, but they need it for the editorial 🍋😅
@@JulieKhuu Dakota’s home didn’t have much personality that came across as genuine. It wasn’t a bad house, just kind of inauthentic and very staged. Personally, I’d love to see Keanu Reeves crib but secretly hope he never shares it
Oooh, she was invited to someone home and took their stuff.
If I came to her house, I’d want all the lighting! 🤩
Omg it’s just her talking the whole time. 😂
Me or Emma 🫢
All this video series is like that. They talk and explain everything.
Uhhh... there was so little she did on her own. It looks like a home that belongs in Disneyland or a horror flick. lol
Which is precisely why I loved this home tour. You could really feel the sense of place 🏰😅
Be patient with Emma. She has been working on making friends. ❤
Would have preferred if you hadn't interrupted her mid word, it's distracting and somehow feels rude.
Will consider the cut for the next edit. Thank you for watching and sharing constructive feedback 🙏🏻☺️
I really don’t like this style. Too many bits everywhere
Yeah, it’s not for everyone. I’m a collector. I LOVED those little bits ☺️
