Well now I’ve been retired for over six years and haven’t colored a single page! My latest obsession is watercolor and have collected just about every set there is. You are absolutely right about UA-cam! I keep thinking about the poor souls who will have to clean out my house when I pass on!😅😢. Love your channel; been watching for years!
Oh no Rebecca don't let it take the shine off. Your supplies can be used how ever you wish. Your artwork is beautiful. You have a vert gentle kind nature so I can't understand why anyone would want to talk to you like that. Love the green paint you were making too. Xxxx

The sad person who had a go at you about calling Gansai Tambi paints 'watercolour' needs to look up the definition of watercolour before they call anyone else out - you are right, they are wrong. I know it's not nice to be on the receiving end of such obnoxious people, but I tend to feel a bit sorry for them (after being really annoyed!) as they are narrow minded and probably lonely and unhappy with nothing better to do than criticise others. How sad is that?I Keep doing what you're doing the way you're doing it. It's interesting and informative and, by the way, I call my Gansai Tambi, sumi-e and all sorts of other water based media 'watercolours', because that's what they are!
Thanks so much, Patricia. That's made me feel so much better. Just the actual word watercolour is kind of self explanitory, lol. Just coz they're a different type of watercolour with a different binder, some people are putting it about that they're not watercolours. I just went and looked up the word, and the gansai do definitely fall under that umbrella. I don't normally let negative comments bother me but this just rattled me coz of the accusation of spreading incorrect information. Your'e right, this person is a bit sad. 😂
I used to buy colouring books but I never ever did anything in them so I gave them all away and vowed to not buy anymore. I feel a weight when I have things I don’t use, I feel guilty, so it was better for me to give them away and let someone else enjoy them. I prefer to make my own art really, I just couldn’t get along with colouring books. I love watching videos of other people doing them though! 😅 I did get the first 2 Dana Fox watercolour books though and enjoyed them, especially the Ocean one which I completed, but I didn’t buy the third one because of the bad reviews it got.
Yep, I know what you mean about the guilt thing, Penny. Sometimes I feel it's too excessive. Oh really? I didn't know that 3rd Dana Fox book got bad reviews. That doesn't surprise me at all. Still a gorgeous book but no good for painting in.
@@TheArtSpirits yes, I didn’t get it when it first came out because I was still working in the Ocean one so I thought I’d wait until it had been out a bit and the price dropped. I’m glad I did because pretty much straight away I saw people complaining about the quality of the paper and the fact that there were only about half the number of projects in it so I didn’t bother getting it. I’d love to know why they made the 3rd book so inferior in content and quality, it doesn’t make any sense at all. I wonder if she will make a 4th?
if u get rid of imagine ill take it & pay for shipping... same with the good wives and warriors and the Mermaids by denise Klette OMG BUT THE FABIANA ATTANASIO!!! I WANT THOSE SOOO DESPERATELY! No probz. I have had a few people as so if I do decide to get rid of them, I'll let everybody know to see who wants them. It's hard coz I don't colour in them but I might regret getting rid of them.
@@TheArtSpirits I totally understand that dilemma! I too fear that once I get rid of one, then I’ll have some crazy urge to colour in them! I totally get it

Yes, I have done a picture in the really large one. Can't remember the exact name. Probably the Flowerscape, I think. It's too large to fit on a shelf so it's in storage. They are such beautiful books 🌻🌸

The Mind of Watercolor channel has said how irritated he gets with people gatekeeping watercolor art. He gets really upset when they say one is not a true watercolor artist if they use gouache or ink for highlights. So it happens to other artists on UA-cam, too. If they get too mean just block them!
He's not wrong, Ellie. I remember watching a video of his and he was saying something simiar about people who say that tight detailed painting is the wrong thing to do with watercolours. I totally agree with him. Watercolour does not have to painted loose. Bloody Gatekeepers!!!! lol. I usually give trolls at least one chance so if that person writes more nasty comments, I'll be blocking her!
I got rid of a lot of colouring heaven too, I had a subscription but got a lot that didn't appeal to my taste. The flower ones are pretty good but the illustrations of people are largely the same face over and over again, with the odd exception. Some look like they have been drawn by high schoolers or art students, it seems they draw one face and just add it to every illustration, even the men's faces, not seen one that looks truly masculine.
Oh really? I haven't bought one for a long time. They used to be by different artists but maybe they just do the pictures themselves now. I do look in them now and again in the supermarket on the off chance there's a lovely one. But I just never see one I like.
Another great vlog especially liked your patterned paper books collection (I was the one who asked for it), they were all just so lovely. There will always be "know it alls" out there. Ignore them and just continue doing your own thing the way that satisfies you. 🥰

I did get the first 2 Dana Fox watercolour books though and enjoyed them, especially the Ocean one which I completed, but I didn’t buy the third one because of the bad reviews it got.
The Jungle book and i believe the wizard of oz are really hard to find. Those are the one set of books id really love to get my hands on. Anytime i see someone with them, i drool and imagine how amazing it would be. If you ever want to get rid of them, im sure you have many people above me that would be interested but please know, Im here and will ALWAYS want them!
I totally get it
Hi there Rebecca, care not a jot what this individual has said about the paints. This is your vlog, your art and no one has the right to be so critical, what's her/his authority????
You keep doing what you're doing, I love your vlog and as for not being a serious artist, well I love you little paintings, and as far as I'm concerned I see your artistic talent.. take care ❤
Thank you so much, Kate. That really means a lot 🙏😊
What spray is that on your paints?
It's rubbing alcohol, Mary.
Comment #2. I have all of Leila Duly’s books and the Flowerscapes books. Have you colored any of those pages???
Yes, I have done a picture in the really large one. Can't remember the exact name.
Probably the Flowerscape, I think. It's too large to fit on a shelf so it's in storage. They are such beautiful books 🌻🌸
Ok. Comment #3. Some people are know it alls. That’s their problem. You enjoy your paints and have fun with them and put that comment out of your mind. It’s not worth a second of your time!
Thanks, Tammy, I'll try. I feel better now that I've got loads of lovely support in the comments 😊
@@TheArtSpiritsthat’s great! We love you and your videos!!!
Did you ever find your pencil holder?
I didn't, no 😩 Gutted!
Wow! Just went to read her comment. She's got WAY too much time on her hands . I wouldn't give it another thought as she sounds like a nut job. It says EVERYWHERE that they ARE JAPANESE paints. Keep up the great art . We all love watching and listening to you. 😘😊
Thanks, Cathy. Yep, she's probz a nut job. And a very misinformed one at that!
@@TheArtSpirits 😂 You're from Newcastle right?
@@cathyridley3005 No, I'm from Cumbria, Cathy. Over the other side, on the west coast but I often get mistaken for Geordie. Probz sounds like a similar accent to people from further afeild.
@@TheArtSpirits Yes,I thought you were a Geordie. Lol. I'm Canadian but live in Cambridgeshire for 15 years. My entire family is from different parts of England. Mom was from Lancashire. Grandad was a Geordie. My Dad was from Essex. Grandma from Ely,Cambs. You say book like my grandad did. 😁
Woowww i love this! I always think i should not have so many coloring and watercolor books! Now i can stop feeling kinda guilty about it, just what i needed, thank you❤ Hi from the Netherlands
Yep, I know what you mean. I feel guilty too but then I think up excuses and justify it to myself, lol.
If you want to sell the Denyse Klette Mermaids book I am happy to give you 100$ for it.
Really? Wow! If you want to email me, my address is rebecca@theartspirits.com
Thanks so much, Ruth. Glad you liked the papers 😊
