Started 15 years ago on 600 Katana or Can o Tuna as my buddies said lol. I thought it was plenty fast for about 6 months until I rode a zx6r. I sold it and bought 02 gxsr1000. Rode few years and bought built 01 Hayabusa. Today,I ride a 2016 R1. These bikes are honestly plenty for beginners or anyone just wanting to ride and have fun. More than enough to hurt you! Truly no match for a 750 or liter bike but still will compete w the kids on the r6s etc unless on interstates doing over 150. Doesn't matter what you ride,as long as you are riding. Troll on trolls.
Your right about the r6 on the interstate 🤣 but should I sale my 2006 katana 19k miles for about 3,500 I spent more then that but I wanna change to somthing faster
My GSXF600 pulls like a train,very stable on the road.For a first bike big it does me well enough.Not the prettiest but then you dont pay much for them these days.Underrated bike!
My first bike i bought was a 03 katana 600. Had 6k miles n i picked it up for 2200 back in 08. I wasnt an experienced rider by far but it was super comfortble and very easy to get used to n feel at ease quickly. I was doing really stupid shit on it way to fast so my suggestions to anyone interisted in starting to ride is take your time for god sakes i seen a kid eat it at 130 around a curve come off the bike and go through a taco bell. The damage to the building from him going through it was unreal. He came out of it in pieces rest his soul. They are great bikes n i think the extra weight n length add to the comfort. It is a sports touring so its literally made for long distance and quickness
My Katana is quick enough. Not sure how fast Michael likes to go. I use mine as a commuter in DC. No need for 85+ speeds, ever, although it could do that fairly easy. I like that they're heavy-weighted and stable. Very underrated bike.
I literally just picked up an 03 katana for my first bike. I had written a rebel 250 before but obviously this is way different. I'm surprised I have resisted the urge to twist too much. If I would have gotten one 10 years ago when I was 23 I guarantee I would have already hit 100. Probably in a residential area too. I was wild
I used to hate on katanas because I bought a 600 that was only running on 3 cylinders...I was a kid so I blamed the bike....finally rode a good running katana.. felt similar to my zx6 I had at the time! good bikes!
DirtRoadDude I say the same thing I rode my brothers 1999 Suzuki gsxr750 and when I finally got my Suzuki katana gsx600f and I got out riding it my Suzuki katana gsx600f feels similar to my brothers Suzuki gsxr750 and riding with my brother and a few other sports bikes I keep up just fine no problem at all a friend has the same exact bike as you a Kawasaki zx6 and another one has a Yamaha r6 and my Suzuki katana gsx600f runs with them all day now with my cousin's 2013 zx14r and our friends 2010 Suzuki gsxr1000 is a different story but not to many small 600's or 750's are going to run with a 1000 or 1300 , zx14r and if they say different they are full of shit I have even rode a Kawasaki kz1000 now that was a bit different I could get up with the Suzuki gsxr1000 and the Kawasaki zx14r on the top end and run with them all day it a blast and surprising to the gsxr1000 and zx14r that I kept up on a kz1000

Picked up a 2006 kat600 with only 2,620 miles on it. It's been sad replacing and fixing stuff on a bike with such low miles.
i have 2 katana s 600&750 and a cbr 600rr. the only place my cbr is faster is over 100 mph but cornering are equal on the 600s. the 750 has rubber dampeners that make is soft and sketchy to corner at its edge. i put 4 set of tires on a bike a year and about 16 k so i think i can vouch i have seat time experience this bikes. my 600 is lowered 2 in but rails corners and i stay in the seat. cbr i am knee down off seat to match performance.much more work in cornering.. i like em both the cbr for wheelies and the katana for passenger comfort and smoother ride. ill add that i dont have chicken strips on any tires either. i judge from experience and not from gossip. ride em like ya stole em!

Bike is plenty fast and take corners well. Unless you drive like a prick on a race track like mikey implies, then the katana is a decent bike for the price. I bought an 02 with 8k miles on it for 1500 bucks. Needed a carb clean and thats all. Im not a big guy either, 5'7" and not too heavy. ya bikes are heavy when you put them down-_-

DirtRoadDude well a haybusa is a Suzuki gsxr like the Suzuki gsxr750 they are considered a super sports bike and a Suzuki katana gsx600f is considered a sports touring bike and I will explain why they are a little different the Suzuki gsxr750 and a Suzuki katana gsx600f both look almost alike and are both dam near identical to each other but a Suzuki gsxr750 is a fuel injection bike which gives it more low end power and they also weigh less then a Suzuki katana gsx600f and the katana gsx600f has carbs and has a little bit less power but it don't make a big difference because I had a Suzuki katana gsx600f and I could beat a Suzuki gsxr750 and any other 600,636 ,750 super sports bike and I can keep up on the top end and even get out on them so it depends on the rider and the riders experience in riding I have been riding snowmobiles quads dirt bikes three wheelers go cart/buggy's and all of the above since I was five years old I even had a moped at five years old my dad would sit on back and let me drive it where ever I wanted to go

I am a very good rider , but a katana 600 only has 80hp to the crank while a gixxer 600 has around 120 to the crank and gixxer 750 has around 135 to the crank. They must have felt sorry for you and let you win.

Thats if you compare them to an R6 or a Gixxer but there not in the same class. They are good starter bikes though. Some people would kill themselves if they started on a supersport. not everyone can handle that.
Yes, and it is much cheaper on insurance than other bikes because it is considered a "sport touring" motorcycle, although it is a bit heavier than other bikes but has a great seat that is comfortable. I had the 600, it was plenty fast.
engines have not changed too much in the motorcycle world (on most bikes) eg my bike 84 xj600 (1st inline 4) can to 220 kph, now in the xj 600 they use the same engine but fuel injected..... (or fj if your from america)
It weighs about 75 pounds more than a 2016 GSXR 600. And it's not slow, it's just not Gixxer fast. You know the engines in those 600's are 750 Gixxer engines that are sleeved right?

+Gary Burbank the katana is a sports tourer my friend,has the same mother as the gsxr but not tuned as much and suspension has a softer setup for touring whereas the gsxr is more track setup,I never said it was slow, I have one too and is a very capable bike, any all the bikes you mentioned are good and I would be happy on either one of them

i bought mine 2 months ago it's 1996 600cc with 25000km on a clock, bought from a friend, it's very goof maintained, runs 240kmh with no problem
