It makes my heart smile when I hear you encouraging young homemakers! Once I heard a new mother say that she couldn’t wait to get back to her job because she was bored at home with four children. “You can only clean a house so much.” She said. That’s sad. Homemaking certainly isn’t everyone’s thing but I’m glad you are such a proponent for those that do choose that profession. 💪🏻 Your bread looks divine! Wish technology could figure out a way for us to smell the final product!!! You always make my day! Thank you!
Lisa, I am 64, I am recovering from a serious health issue this winter and your videos bring me calm(I love the voice over style) and also inspire me to step up some of my homemaking a bit. Thank you.
Hi Lisa! Longtime follower here. I absolutely love your channel. Wanted to say that I'm an avid gardener, in fact I have a garden channel. If you are ever looking for guests for your simple farmhouse life podcast, I would love to talk growing flowers with you! I'm an avid flower and vegetable grower. Thank you! Steph 🌻🪻🌼🌷
Your panettone is beautiful! Looking forward to the jalapeño cheddar bread! My son dropped by this morning for sourdough pancakes for the first time…he said they reminded him of crepes. He also took a few bagels for a sandwich today! Thank you for inspiring me to try new things!
Enjoying your videos so much! You have gotten me back into the kitchen. Just a note - In the 1950's my mother used to make candied grapefruit peel at Christmas. Never put it in bread - just munched on it. I think she was the only one in the family that liked it!
Something I love about all your videos is that you are true to yourself! You know you have to dial back in the garden, so you do it! You want more flowers because they are valuable to you, you plant them! You want to try a new recipe, you do it! That is inspirational! Keep up the great work!
Thank you for this recipe! I am Eastern Orthodox and we have an Easter bread called Kulich that is very similar to panettone and I have been searching for a sourdough version. When I saw that you had posted one I was so excited because you are my favorite sourdough baker on You Tube! I can’t wait to try this!
Panettone is for Christmas and the same dough shaped different.y at Easter is called Colomba, which is Italian for Dove. It is basically the same thing just shaped differently. At easter in all the patisserie cafes they sell their own Colombia’s and they are quite expensive, you buy them and take them as a gift for whoever’s house you go to for Easter lunch.
Your Panettone made my mouth water. The skills required for homemaking would rival any executive corporate job any day. Your time management skills alone are impressive. I would love to see another video with the new chicks and the other animals in the future. I really enjoy your creativity with food and projects in your home.
Thank you for showing me what real panettone looks like. I always thought I hated ‘fruit cake’ (I do!) but yours looks so amazing! Love your channel. It’s like watching modern day Little House in the Prairie ☺️
How children manage to do things is one of mans great mysteries. 😂 I’m a mom of 5 and grandma of 14. They came up with some things that make you wonder.
So my chicken plan is to hatch out a small clutch of eggs every spring, whether I do it or we get a broody hen. That way we always have a few first year layers to get us through the winter and then we’ll cull the few old hens every year.
I've found that keeping the pith on the citrus peel makes the finished Candied "sweet meats" much softer and more palatable. That's why I don't use limes, just lemon, orange, and grapefruit. Hope that helps someone!
I have searched for years for a panettone bread recipe. But I wasn't looking up sourdough panettone. I guess I wasn't ready yet, because now I have the sourdough starter. I'm gonna try this recipe very soon. Thanks Lisa for another delicious, and well explained recipe. Love watching your stuff.
Lisa, I know I have said this before….but I find your videos so relaxing and inspiring. Your breads look awesome. I have sourdough bread on the go as we speak, thank you for starting my day off great. ❄️🇨🇦❄️
YES-Panettone! For the Italian in me. Nothing better toasted with butter and hot coffee and steamed cream. Jalepeno and chedder-Yum! You hit it out of the park. I too love to continue to find new things to learn. So many things to discover. I want to make torrone-still have not done it yet. Key word , yet. Thank You again Lisa.
gorgeous breads!ANd I certainly agree I have always been a propionate for staying home and homemaking, I love learning new things and am learning all the time! thank you for your videos😀
@@FarmhouseonBoone I’m an woman in my 70’s and you a young and beautiful wife and mother. I share your passion and love for all things that bring you joy. We have a lot in common even though we are years apart. I love watching you with your beautiful children. We had 7 children, two of which were adopted at birth. We also opened our hearts and home to care for over 125 babies with special needs and medically fragile newborns over the years. Most of our children have moved out of state so I don’t often have the joy of our great grandchildren. So watching you and yours is a real treat. It brings back such sweet memories for me. Thank you.
Lisa, What a gorgeous and I’m sure delicious panettone…I just made a stollen..we love it on these cold winter days. I always have found such joy and pleasure in baking🥧 cherry pie this weekend🥰..Love, Liz🥧🥧
I am in awe of your ability with sourdough baking. I have tried 3 times unsuccessfully to make sourdough bread. Everytime I see you work with your starter, im newly inspired to try it again.
How do you find time to be so gracious and beautiful with such a large family and responsibilities and all that you do?! I so admire you... Please rub off on me! I'm going to your blog right now and am going to follow your footsteps in home making... I'm 64 and have lived around the world and done many of the things you do in making a special home but the last 20 years, I've let it go between a divorce and tough work environment... Thank you for being an inspiration!
She is amazing! But it’s important to remember her husband stays home and helps with the workload. It doesn’t diminish all that she does, but having another adult around to share the load really seems to make what she does more possible. Not everyone has that, so be kind to yourself and proud of all that you do accomplish!
The breads are just so tasty looking but also so beautiful! I think we all are ready for spring. We must be patient! God bless you and your sweet family.
hey girl- love the video!! All the food looks oh so good!😀😉 I am also a homemaker and love to cook and bake. And try different dishes. I so enjoy watching your process of baking the bread. yummy!! Thank you for sharing.🥰
The bread looks so good. Pannetone has always been my favorite. I was able to find some GF this year and it was such a treat. I too will be doing a garden this year. Tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers and some herbs. Also, Dahlias. I just love them and hope I am successful with it all.
That is a beautiful dough…so silky and malleable 🍞. PS Lisa, check out ‘This Golden Hour’. The Vloger is Steph Stoltzfus, a Mennonite dairy farmers’s wife, mom of four, and restorer of her in-laws 1700’s stone farmhouse in Lancaster County, PA. She is also a sourdough fan 👍🏻
How beautiful is that panettone ! And the bread ! 🤤I am salivating. I've been quite successful with my sourdough bread and I've only made it twice. Lovely bubbly dough and tasty bread. I posted a photo of my fab bread and 'a friend' said : "that ain't bread in my book, that's Swiss cheese. How on earth is one supposed to spread it with whatever without it running through the holes " Ah, ignorance. I think the holes are perfect to stuff with butter (as long as the latter is a bit firm like. If not, just lick your arms and fingers. 😆
Lisa, you're a legend! I was hoping someone would do a sourdough panettone recipe. I saw one if those food shows that documented the making of panettone, and I'm pretty sure it is traditionally a fermented dough. Just checked out the post on your blog, I can't believe how perfect it looks!!!
I have wanted to make panettone for years but couldn’t find an easy enough recipe. Yours was great, however, it was a nightmare for me. Everything that could go wrong did. It would have made an excellent episode of I Love Lucy. Beyond hilarious. But I persevered and ended up with TWO loaves. 🤣🤣🤣Not sure how that happened but they were beautiful and had great flavor. I will make again for sure. Trying out the cheddar jalapeño bread this weekend. Thanks for sharing your recipes with us
Hi Lisa! Your Panettone and bread look absolutly perfect and delicious! I' live in Tuscany(Italy) since 33 years and it remains my favorite dessert for Christmas and more. Good job
Panettone is one of my favourite holiday treats. I always have an extra in the store for mid winter when we need something cozy. Try chocolate and pear - another decadent version. Also love it as a bread and butter pudding (or mixed in with other bread I’m trying to use up to add something extra). Love your experimental cooking
My husband grew up in Peru and I lived there after we married. It’s customary at Christmas to have Pannetonne, particularly to bring as a gift to someone’s home. His sisters tried making it when they were younger and completely failed so I’m looking forward to trying it out - maybe even with them! Also, I recently used your artisan sourdough recipe to make jalepeño cheese bread! How fun to see you making it on the vlog. My dough does not seem to want to stretch as much as yours. Does that mean I need less flour?
It's hard to say about the flour but that is a good guess. Thank you so much for sharing your story ...I love hearing special stories from families! Good luck with the Panetonne!

You are so wonderful with breads of all kinds. Such a good home maker.

I'm also pretty sure they do some sorcery where they turn the loaf upside down so it doesn't deflate. Glad to see that step is not necessary!😅

Panettone!!! Yes, I'm brazilian and it's very traditional there, specially for Holidays. My favorite is Bauducco, that sells at Walmart.
