    As far as 25 year old Gibson's go, this one is pretty clean considering it has actually been played. Used, not abused!
    Glad the owner is having it refreshed to enjoy for many years to come!

    There must be some place where you can get larger bottles of Lemon Oil at a better price, Crimson Guitars make an excellent restorative oil and they have it made to their own recipe and bottle it themselves, and so maybe they can do trade deals on larger bottles.

      Old English scratch and dent furniture polish for dark woods.... wipe it on wipe it off-done.... does not stain fingers/darkens the fretboard/ cheap/fast and a bottle will last forever.

    I have an Epiphone SG standard and i do not like anything but 10-46 on it. I think you are right he is going to quickly replace those strings.

    beautiful SG. but over wrapping the strings and then using 8s put little or no pressure on the bridge. id suggest 9s and feed the strings the way god intended and you should be good to go

    Sweet, this is a birth year guitar for me. I’d say this guitar has aged better than myself lol.

      If you’re 25 and already feeling old it’s not going to get better 😂

      @@alexcorona Oh man, I know it. I’m actually not even 25 yet and I’ve retired from the Air Force, had 3 kids, now I’m going through a divorce. Hair is falling out by the day.

    Unless you cut the nut and saddles for 8s they just don’t function well, IMO. My customers always complain about tuning issues and strings popping out, then I kindly remind them that I told them it would happen.

    On the bridge issue, maybe if your customer would like to try not top wrapping, the additional downward force from the strings could keep the bridge in place - kinda like how it works for a jazzmaster.

    • @alexcorona
      @alexcorona 3 місяці тому +1

      Not the same AT ALL! The Jazzmaster bridge is supposed to rock back and forth with the use of the tremolo. This does not have a tremolo, so back and forth rocking will do nothing but ruin the intonation and tuning.
      They most likely put on an epiphone TOM bride which has bigger holes than the Gibson Nashville style.

    • @vinniesworld459

      @@alexcorona I know. But the point was that on a JM, the rocking back and forth only happens when the trem arm is used. When it isn't, the strings keep the bridge in place (zero position). It's why people sometimes use higher gauge strings to ensure that there is enough downward pressure on the bridge to avoid it rocking when the bridge is supposed to be stationary. Here, there is no trem arm - so it shouldn't rock back and forth if there is enough pressure on the bridge.

    It might be a Gibson knockoff

  • @2dazetake

    Might have to cut a new bone nut, anytime you drop down in string gauge, the strings may drop down lower in the nut slots, and will cause buzzing.
