Im from Cape Verde, and We speak a Portuguese based creole language.
In our Native tongue We say 'Diachi' which pretty much means the same as 'Diache' for dominicans and 'Damm' for English Speakers...
Diache is also used in Puerto Rico with the same meaning xD

Funny cause in portuguese, at least in Brasil, some use to say "Diacho" which is a variation of the word: Diabo (Diablo in spanish or Devil in english), but with the same meaning of Diache, like damn!!
Nós dominicanos temos um espanhol muito "arcaico", e esse tipo de palavras têm muito a ver com os países que fizeram a nossa cultura. "Diacho" é a tradução direita para a palavra "diantre" que como tu disseste provém do termo "diabo" (diablo em espanhol, naturalmente). Eu gosto muito de comparar o nosso espanhol com a português do Brasil em termos de vocabulário, porque temos muitas coisas em comum. "Eu tô" aqui é "yo toy", etc. Também utilizamos palavras como "ótimo", "convidar" e outras. No seu ensaio, o Enrique Ureña disse que o nosso espanhol tem um "ar arcaico" que o faz único.
Dante Alighieri Interessante, eu diria o mesmo em relação ao Português falado no Brasil, muitos especialistas afirmam que esse era o português falado no século 15 e 16 ( que provém da Galícia), e que no Brasil foi mantida a forma de falar da época, e por isso o português de Portugal é tão diferente do brasileiro, não apenas no sotaque. Muito bom trocar informações.

Muitos brasileiros dizem que acham o português de Portugal um bocado arcaico, mas foi o brasileiro que não evoluiu. Como tu disseste o português falado nesse século era muito diferente ao falado na lusofonía moderna. Com o espanhol foi diferente, porque a lingua cresceu na América Latina ao mesmo tempo porque as cidades coloniais mantinham contactos umas com outras. Mas as semelhanças entre o vocabulário entre o meu país e o teu são incríveis, porque O Brasil no pasado falava como os portugueses da época, e o espanhol era ainda mais parecido com o português: por exemplo, dizia-se "fablar" ao invés de "hablar", e antes de "fablar" dizia-se "falar".
O espanhol dominicano também provém do século XV-XVI. E a mesma coisa aconteceu com o francês no Quebec.

jsphat81 It does! Portuguese, British (which is spoken in Samaná), German and many other countries. The word CHIN comes from Colombia por exemple, and it's now in the dictionary of the RAE, and so "VAINA", they just gave us those words in the past, while we were growing up as a culture and as a country. You'll probably find far more "very archaic (I mean words relate to today's Portuguese)" words in the northern and eastern part of the country.
Diache and Diantre/Diatre are pretty common in Puerto Rico, mostly Diantre

Hi I am a Dominican from NYC and I like to contribute on the word DIACHE, it was also known as Diablo. Dominicans are constantly on a daily basis using Diablo, but some of the parents hates us when we use it and thats why in front of friends is EL DIABLO.. and in front of parents Diache. Saludos

anjir [spelled un-jeer] (it comes from "anjing" or "dogs" because it is considered as bad word so we made it softer by turning it into "anjir")
you can use this when happy, sad, surprised, bored, angry, rage, anytime, trust me
examples :
gila, badannya bagus bener jir (Omg [literally translated to crazy but it sounded more like "omg!"] his body is so damn hot

and you can change the ending to make it sounds better

We use DIACHE to complain about a situation, to show that we're impressed about something, or just because.. We use DIABLE, just to avoid saying Diablo, (I think only Christians say that) and we use DIALE the same way we use DIACHE but showing less emotions.. Ex: Diale it started raining again!.. It's just funny how we just tried to come up with words that are so similar to the DIABLO one 😂🇩🇴🇩🇴
