- In this video, we bring an emotional tribute to Ayrton Senna and Roland Ratzenberger, held at the iconic Enzo and Dino Ferrari circuit in Imola. The event was attended by Formula 1, Formula 2, and Formula 3 drivers, including Brazilians Gabriel Bortoleto, Enzo Fittipaldi, and Felipe Drugovich, as well as the CEO of Formula 1, Stefano Domenicali.
Organized by four-time champion Sebastian Vettel with support from Senna Brands, the tribute included a track run where drivers carried the flags of Brazil and Austria, paying respect to the great idols. Vettel gave a heartfelt speech highlighting Senna's importance as a global inspiration both on and off the track.
The most poignant moment was when Vettel returned to the track on Sunday, before the main race, driving the legendary 1993 McLaren MP4/8 used by Senna in significant victories, including the Brazilian GP at Interlagos. Visibly emotional, Vettel also carried the Austrian flag in memory of Ratzenberger.
The event was not just a tribute but also a message of environmental concern. Vettel used biofuel during the demonstration, which drew the attention of many engineers and mechanics who came out of the garages to appreciate the tribute.

I've not seen an F1 driver with more class than Vettel in the entire 35 years I've been watching it.
What gesture from Seb for such a legend Ayrton Senna. That some of the drivers didn't wear the shirt shows that this kind of respect Seb is showing even after retirement is not "normal" in this highly competitive sport. Thanks Seb, always in our memories Ayrton 💚💛💙
That was a very sad day indeed.
The car had active suspension, TC, and allegedly... ABS. Ron Dennis paid for a separated Cosworth team , only for engine development. Still 80 BHP less than the Renault RS04 . But Ayrton did wonders with this car, by far the best designed by Neil Oatley. Vettel left me speechless... outstanding tribute.
The Ford-Cosw. HB V8 had less power (about 60-70 hp), but lower fuel consumption, better torque and better drivability than the RS04

The 1993 McLaren had a 3.5 liter Ford V8 Cosworth engine. It only tested the Lamborghini V12.

If you LISTEN to the commentary you’ll hear that some items were STOLEN and Max was late to the event due to other commitments, along with a couple others..
Some say it is due to his relationship with Piquet's daughter, once Piquet was one of his biggest adversaries in F1.
Didn't the MP4/8 have a V8 Engine not a V12? The MP4/8B had a V12 Lamborghini motor but that never raced.
Actually, Max Verstappen didn't want to make Nelson Piquet (his future father-in-law) mad, because Mr. Piquet is known to hate Ayrton Senna so much he even called him "gay" at one point!
