Those start up noises used to get me in trouble with my parents when I was a kid. Remembering to turn down the volume at night before starting up the console was absolutely necessary lol, along with lightly tapping the buttons on the controller so that they don't make too much noise. The struggle was real back then.
space butts Oh yeah for sure because a lot of the games we had bought back then wouldn't work so waiting for the Playstation 2 term was the answer to whether or not the game had worked
The Nintendo 64 startup in this video is actually the Nintendo 64 Disk Drive startup. It matters because the regular N64 didn't have a startup and the N64DD was rare and sold only in Japan with very few games.
For most the PSX was one of the earliest known console startup sounds one could recall. I am thankful to remember all of them, especially the Dreamcast, as me and my family were going through a rough spot in life. Getting that machine on launch day, along with Power Stone, kept the staunch depression at bay. The original Xbox was loud as hell if you forgot to turn the TV down from the Halo LAN party the night before. The Gamecube was such a happy little tune. But for me, the original Nintendo Gameboy took the cake. And yes, there is a start up sound. It's brief, but there is one. Getting that and Link's Awakening, combined with a new Sanyo CD Walkman made the bad days go away, if only for a spell. Remember that the sounds, though generic, have complex memories attached to them, thus why the nostalgia gets us all when we hear them, and most of us will never... ever forget them.
No, unless you live in Japan, or own a Japanese version of the N64, you´ve most likely never seen the add-on in real life (in addition, it sold poorly in Japan, and since it´s a Japan only add-on, not many were made) @@dfe9957
My favorites are the GameCube and the Dreamcast. What I especially liked about the GameCube one is that you could hold down different buttons, and it would alter the intro. The Dreamcast intro is unique, I dunno, I just like it.
And most games on the Genesis/MD just had the Sega logo on a black background with no music. The only "startup" on the console is the "PRODUCED BY OR UNDER LICENSE FROM SEGA ENTERPRISES, LTD." screen that you see when you turn it on.
I don't know why, but when I was young, I was scared of the PS1 and PS2 sounds. But the weird thing is that I was also afraid of the PS3 sound too. Now I just find it soothing! XD

Now I hope to have a PS4 as my 4th this year for my 23rd b-day. I remembered as a child of wanting every console especially the Saturn & Dreamcast I see, I plan on having my collection of consoles someday as an upcoming voice-actress. For the Atari Jaguar, it's like they asked someone to design a 3D jaguar for the bios screen. So, they put a picture of one on a cube. Then, they said, "no! like, one that can move!" So they made it spin...

Dreamcast's beep sound
soulassassin0g Hopefully you didn't own a ps2
soulassassin0g me too 😂
I always like the ps1 startup sound the most
I feel it, man. That was my childhood, too.
What happened to the hype effect of starting up a console? That's gone now.
Ikr? I miss it 2!
when i was a kid the ps2 start up used to creep me out

The second part of the PlayStation intro always gives me chills by how it sounds, in a good way haha
It's deep
Kirkland Shunk I agree...
Then Resident Evil starts. But not before that Capcom logo appears.
the ps1 startup is the definition of beautiful

@@dfe9957 Yes
That doesn't matter
@@Ebola-Jones it does............ very few people outside of Japan have ever seen one, let alone actually play games on it.
Why do you think that matters
Awww, so much nostalgia! I completely forgot about the Dreamcast opening, I loved that console. Good old Shenmue...
Toridori look at now :D
Toridori what about gamecube? have you had one?
You can even hear the standard TV's video static for Sega MegaDrive
PS1/2 and Dreamcast rock man. Feels like your playing on something special. Loved the loading intros as it added to the gaming experience
Wii U: Logo, "Please Wait" lol
Elvis S I own a WiiU and theres basically a loading screen for everything. Part of the many reasons why I dont use it as much as I used to.
Wii U in a nutshell, Please Wait.
The Wii U has the same Prats has the PS3
That's why people can hack the PS3 to play Wii U games
(and yes the PS3 was hard to program too)
Ethan Fasulo the switch would be better if they werent just trying to market to babies

I know this is not a console start up but I loved the CAPCOM startup for SNES games!
I like all startup but my favorite nintendo gamecube
Yeah my friend Alex has one still! But he only has two games for it, Super Smash Bros. And marvel heros
😥 I miss my gamecube. It's my second favorite console.
I feel bad for you. I still have one in my possession. It is about to be 9 years
Totheriver16 I still have one apparently it has the creators signature on

The Megadrive bootup here is actually the SEGA screen of Sonic 1, the "startup screen" is actually the Genesis trademark

PlayStation 1 and Dreamcast best starts up!

The PlayStation 2 startup screen is slowed down for some reason.

The dreamcast startup is pure nostalgia.

the best generation of gaming consoles was back in the early 2000s with Xbox, PS2, Gamecube and Dreamcast. best consoles, best games.
N64 had one?
For the Nintendo 64dd it was an accessory to be attached to the bottom to play games from discs
