What's nutty about it? Saddam was a tyrant who tried to take control of allied territory by conquest. He could probably make a video about him, but the war was unavoidable.

up until ww2 the SS did not recruit anyone with a criminal record. the trick of dictatorships is to make ppl think they are doing "good" .. the war crimes that came later were committed mostly by educated people running the Nazi camps who thought they were on a crusade .. ppl like Oskar Dirlewanger only prospered with the war, his original unit was made up of poachers etc, ppl the Germans thought would make effective troops hunting partisans. later they recruited more serious criminals, including murderers. armies don't tend to recruit sociopaths or psychopaths, they don't make good soldiers.

My grandpa was a part of bodt recovery directly after WW2. He and his group would go from island to island in the Pacific to recover and find American bodies. Well, I love my grandpa but Im pretty sure part the official reports he left us about it included a section about harassing the woman who lived on the islands. But don't worry! He was thoroughly traumatized by the whole thing.

A lot of Americans just didn't see Asian people as, well, people. Plus he was, like, 19-20. So you add all those factors together and it isn't a good combination
