The military isn't woke enough. We need blue haired storm brigades. Problem solved. Check out Patrick Baker's video on NATO's secret army against Putin: ua-cam.com/video/ih8-HP6IGR0/v-deo.html
Oh and keep in mind that POTUS has the authorization to decide what is classified and declassified. Compare that to Senator and VP Joe Biden who removed significantly more classified documents during his time as Senator and VP, despite having NO authority to do so... AND storing them strewn all around his garage (with the door open), next to his hot wheels... Oh and Hilary "Bleach Bit" Clinton, who intentionally skirted around rules and regulations concerning email serves etc. so that she could hide her corruption and crime, AND disregarded a subpoena to hand over her emails, by erasing servers and having phones smashed with hammers. Things got interesting when the police found Clinton emails on Anthony Weiner's computers (his wife was Hilary's assistant). Fun fact. China hacked Hilary's emails, so who knows how much compromising material they have on her. Also, as result of the hack, China was able to identify and kill pretty much every US intelligence asset operating in China, which they did over like, the course of a day, and everyone was shocked at how they did this... it was 'cause they had all her emails.
I don’t think USA tricked Russia into attacking Ukraine. If anything Russia was desperate to get of hold of Crimea because of never freezing port of Sevastopol. And when they managed it back in 2014 with no problem…. (Bla bla about NATO not reacting) they (Nikolai Patrushev and putler ) decided it would be easy fight. Well they committed to fighting and now they can’t find way out. Maybe internal fighting (prigožin,….) will give them excuse to ,, concentrate,, on problems in Russia, fingers crossed 🤞
I really liked this podcast. Cappy you brought up a very interesting point about the Chinese and Soviet militaries not having NCOs. I was an Officer serving in 1st Cav during OIF 09-10 and I could not imagine being a Platoon leader without the NCOs that I had as squad leaders, platoon leaders and team leaders. It boggles my mind how any army could go to war without them. Thank you enlisted folk for serving, it was an honor to serve with soldiers like you.
"appreciate the work to make it clean" they fucking hate it lol they've literally said multiple times it's only because of the giant PC/demonetization hammer you'll have your fucking head/channel smashed in with if you do anything other than borderline baby talk... "unalive yourself" etc
These podcasts are great. It's not necessarily always correct on details but its not meant to be. Just two dudes having a fun chat about our crazy world while having a drink. It's great. I think its especially great because it also shows that normal people(non-experts) can have reasonable and level-headed discussions and conclusions which is refreshing. Nowadays, most average discussion devolves into some conspiratorial nonsense, biased, and name calling. Frequently, we have to turn to experts for constructive arguments, yet we are still missing the opinions of the average person. We obviously have ourselves, but its hard to find reasonable opinions elsewhere
National Security should have No Political Affiliation. The main operation is to Secure the Nation from Foreign and Domestic Terrorism or interference from within the system that may impose harm to the American Populace...usvf
The military has never been separate from politics. You read any strategy book you will see statements that read ala "The primary goal of the military is to take political goals and make them into military doable tasks" or similar. Point is, the military has mostly held conservative values before and conservatives have seen no issues with that, but as soon as more liberal views are also tolerated. Suddenly there is an issue. Conservatives are hypocrites and every 6 months they make up a new word to deflect from real causes. Be it "war on xmas", "woke" or similar. Heck, most people cant even define woke because in reality woke just means anything a conservative dislikes, because they are the only ones using the term.
Great podcast. But I disagree about one thing. It's not that they took the documents, it's that when the feds wanted them back, they didn't cooperate. People mess up all the time but if you come clean you won't go to jail.
This is especially true for political leaders. Nixon wasn't going to be impeached for his goons deciding to break into the Democratic HQ.he was going to be impeached for trying to cover it up. He should have thrown the guys under the bus and went on his merry way.
thanks for the feedback, we were mainly just riffing out that issue so theres definitely a lot of details in there that we missed and things we're not aware of
100%. I had the same opinion as expressed in the podcast about a week ago, but I've since realised that Trumps case is different because he isn't cooperating now that the problem has been discovered.
The best way to learn about politics is to watch the show 'Yes Minister' and 'Yes Prime ministers'. British comedy shows. A lot about politicians and the public servants. When the ministers go home they have a large box of documents to work with. The really important papers are placed at the bottom of the pile.
20 years in the military and "woke-ness" is really not a problem as much as the culture backlash. On the ground level, what is most important is developing yourself as the best Soldier, Sailor, Airman, or Marine you can possibly be and supporting your team(s) the best way you can. That is first, second, third priority... and was and is the priority for the past, present, and future. if you believe otherwise and prioritize being a culture warrior then you would be better off in one of the mall-ninja militias around the country. When you are getting medicine from the pharmacy, flying on an aircraft, or fixing a problem with your pay, I guarantee you will be more concerned with the technicians working at the pharmacy, prepping the engines, or reviewing your allotments be proficient at their jobs and not whether they are transgender, voted for the other party, or supported the right amendment.
You’re correct, but also I think you missed the actual concerns. You’re right, I care much more about whether someone has my back and can perform their tasks with competence than what they call themselves. What I am actually concerned about is whether dollars that could be spent training up those competencies or creating new capabilities might instead go towards funding DEI training or that a capable officer might get passed up for a position/promotion because their views are more socially conservative (or vice versa).
@@norad_clipsno officer is going to be passed up for promotion if they don't really like gay people but it's their own business to do whatever they want with another consenting adult. They might get passed up if they think that every gay person is a child predator who's intent on destroying the Western world. The first is a conservative position, the second is just bigotry that hurts readiness
@@norad_clipsyeah yeah, we've heard this stupid argument from social concervatives for decades, but when it comes time to put up or shut up they raise the national debt by trillions, suspend the debt ceiling, continue sinking trillions into unauditable defense spending, and then try to go after Medicare and social security. In short, conservatives only care when resources are being spent on something they don't like, and have yet to prove to anyone that they can reallocate said resources effectively, or even have the desire to do so, rather than just cutting funding from things they don't like
I haven't watched the whole thing yet but we had a situation when we were deployed where a guy from another company actually drew his weapon on one of our black soldiers and we were all pissed about it. I don't recall what, if anything, happened to the other soldier though.
16:38 We were having this discussion a while ago, we need more cyber security nerds and drone operators, they don't NEED to be super fit, hardcore 200 pounds of sweating muscle, they need to know C++ and how to use a controller... The people with these skills aren't attracted to being screeched at all day. So now we have a MAJOR shortage of these professions we desperately need to stay competitive.
I used to think the same thing, until I saw a report that a Russian officer died of a heart attack from being overweight in Ukraine. Health is very important no matter what you do.
@@Justanotherconsumer Nobody is asking the nerds to ruck 10 miles. Air Force PT standards are lax…I’m sure Space Force is the same. Air Force controls the cyber world so those guys and gals are fine. P/T tests are pencil-whipped as well in the Air Force. It’s all about the Airmen to maintain their health.
@@MrBassmann15 Sure, but your cyber security computer wonks won't be 'overweight in Ukraine', they'll be in an office in Canberra, gotta move with the times and stay competitive. Why would I want to do that shit when I can get three times the money for a shit ton less work in the private sector? ( as evidence by me, working in the private sector for a LOT more money, better conditions and less dumb shit. )
100% agree. I am upset Hunter got off light and I do not want trump to get away with holding onto war documents and showing them to ppl without clearance. It should not be based on party on power everyone should be held accountable evenly.

59:14, They tried to get the documents back without charging him over the course of a year. He refused to give them back. They gave him multiple opportunities to do so. That’s what makes this different to all the other instances of retaining information they weren’t supposed to. I think he even initially lied about having the top secret documents at first before eventually admitting he had them, which is when he started saying he’d “declassified” them with his magical declassifying mind powers because he knew he’d been caught. All he had to do was give it back and he would have gotten the same treatment everybody else did.
Not true. He had proper lawful custody and was coordinating with a hostile politicized agency that hated him and colluded with co conspirators to frustrate a legal process and use that time delay as fake evidence of Trumps unwillingness to bow to a subordinate bureaucracy. Wake up. Or go refresh your blue hair dye…who cares…
"I think he even initially lied about having the top secret documents at first before eventually admitting he had them, which is when he started saying he’d “declassified” them with his magical declassifying mind powers because he knew he’d been caught." ...This a bad time to point out that 42nd got into hot water because he had *_classified_* files in his sock drawer (not even kidding there) and even eventually went to court over it only for the court to rule that Presidents are legally allowed to keep any documents - even classified ones - as per the Presidential Records Act? I hate to disappoint you, but legally - with legal precedent - 45th violated no law.
17:25 Lmfao... I'm reminded of one of my Drill Instructors explaining how they considered our (the recruits') respective mentalities: "If I were to put a recruit in a padded cell, naked, with nothing but two steel ball bearings, and then left the recruit(s) alone for less than a minute; When the Drill Instructor returned, they would see that you (the recruit) would have broken one of the ball bearings, and lost the other."
To the discussion about studies into changing boot camp. There's an element when you dive into real world metrics, studies, experiments, a lot of "progressive" policies tend to work out better, they often increase productivity, reduces costs, or at worst have the same outcomes. This goes from nutritional security for children, to transparent salaries in jobs (common in government and military), to eliminating sexual harassment. I was raised "conservative" and I became more "progressive" when I began looking at socio economic studies and found out that most "progressive" policies are more fiscally responsible and I started supporting those policies. Many progressive systems are an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. If the US military studied the efficacy of "softer" boot camp on job performance and found it more effective, and they followed it, that's not being "woke" or "progressive" or political. That's just being sensible. The term "woke" comes from the Black American community about becoming aware is the systemic oppression. From being more wary of police stops, to knowing that as a black person they have to perform twice as better as their counterparts to even be recognized. There are different repressive standards for black and white people in the US. Trans culture, black culture are among the most prolific origins of changes to the modern English language. So a term in the black American community goes mainstream and gets co-opted by people who use novel language as a way of othering the issue instead addressing the real problems. Props for mentioning Smedley Butler. In Korea I think some Russian pilots attacked a pair of American pilots and one of the American Pilots, Royce Williams shot down 4 planes by himself. It was kept top secret until this year to avoid going to war with Russia in 1952. China likewise famously invaded North Korea during the Korean War. Then after Vietnam, China attempted to invade Vietnam. The Vietnamese wanted independence, from France from China. They generally don't hate America, because they won. Now then they did kill lots of South Vietnamese after the US left. But modern Vietnam was to protect it's interest especially against China. Because no matter what China say today, if they successfully take Taiwan, they'll start pushing overland into Southeast Asia making false historical claim. Trump took far more documents than any if the others. Far more. He also openly discussed and shared them with non secure people. And he tried to hide them and keep them from the FBI. everyone else cooperated. Mike Pence is actually the counter example to Trump. He had documents, and he cooperated with investigators to return them. Trump like Nixon isn't having the book thrown at him for what he did. They both sought to obstruct the investigation. I do however support holding all politicians accountable, and would wholly support investigating Biden, Obama, Bush, Clinton after they leave office. Most people on the progressive actually support the same thing. Like the Epstein stuff, they'd gladly accept Clinton going to jail for sex crimes if everyone else like Trump were also convicted. Full disclosure I loath Trump. I grew up on a cattle ranch in Texas, going to a Southern Baptist church. He is the antithesis of all the values I was raised on: he's a selfish liar who cheats at business, mistreats women, and cheats on them, and he's a bad father. He doesn't care for his community. My grandparents on one side started a food bank in my community, my grandparents and uncles and aunts helped setup the original volunteer ambulance service in the area before it was taken over by public services. They donate to local charities and national charities, and setup small local scholarships in the local schools. But somehow they started following and supporting Trump and turned their back on all of that, or at least the ones that are still alive did. It's like King David being lead to worship false idols in his old age.
@granatmof It's not true that blacks have to work harder, when universities make admission standards looser for blacks and stricter for Asians that's not fair at all.
The problem is not trump brought the docs home. It was legal when he WAS STILL the president, but not after he stoped being a president and did not turn back the documents when requested by the government.
And when he obstructed the government attempts to return them. Mike Pence and Biden both cooperated and honestly I hope there's a change of process going forward to prevent security threats like this going forward.
@@granatmofyeah me too. Our counterintel guys REALLY need to change their standards & practices. The fact that SO many documents were/are out in the wild and unsecured is an embarrassment
Idk I think Milley is a problem. He did a lot of interviews with reporters talking very negatively about Trump including telling people in the pentagon that he is in charge and not Trump specifically, suggesting he would start a war with Iran to stay president. Plus, he and Austin threw Biden under the bus when the US chaotically withdrew from Afghanistan. There were some other things but I cant recall what all is public information
@@JB-pu8ik i don't think that Layayette square thing went down how you think it did. Essentially there was a curfew in place because the church was torched the night before. The controversy is that Bill Barr had pushed them to clear the square a little early. Unfortunately different government officials are used by presidents constantly for photo ops, this is just one rare occasion the media had a problem with it or perhaps went too far by making them walk around lol. I dont know what you mean by "preventing a war with Iran+China". You know that is suggesting he ordered an attacked on Iran+China which is not true and very inappropriate of you to spread such misinformation. Deconfliction is common in the US government, to prevent accidents, and because it allows the US military to poke and prod other countries such as Chinese airspace. I think he has harmed the image of the US military by appearing partisan, he knew exactly what he was doing by butting in to a question asked to Lloyd Austin about Critical Race Theory being taught at West Point, he knew exactly what he was doing and it was for politics. The fact he did all those interviews after Trump left office was all for politics. The fact he threw Biden under the bus for the chaotic retreat from Afghanistan was politics. He didnt have to do any of these things, but he did because he is a politician more than a general and that is a problem if you want to appear as non-partisan
@@JB-pu8ik All that stuff about what the Chinese or Iranians were thinking or saying is according to Milley because he was giving interviews. My takeaway from his interviews was that he was trying to sound important and powerful, I have doubts that people suddenly running into the capital and rioting meant the world was in danger and war was on the horizon. War doesnt take an hour or 2, it takes weeks to prep outside of simply shooting off some nukes. Troop movements are pretty obvious, I remember seeing the Bagdad troops surge orders the day before or after christmas 2019 right before they assassinated Solemani in 2020, so about a week before it happened a was very aware something was about to pop off in the city

This conversation was a great microcosm of the broader ‘wokism’ debate because I’m 20 minutes in and I still don’t know either of your definitions of ‘wokism’.
Guys, there were TWO Ukrainian offensives last year. There was Kherson offensive, that wasn't going so lightly fast as the east one. And it was, at least according to Russians, very costly for Ukrainians - well, if anybody takes Russian claims as anything other than at least 5 times bigger then reality.
Cappy, one thing I really appreciate about you is that you take a look at both sides, *but with a critical lens.* I don't think you did that second part with woke in this episode. 6 million man-hours is what, an hour or 2 a year per member? I spent more time picking leaves outta a gravel pit than that. Acting like that one or two classes is getting in the way of training is something a person who's never even seen a military base would think, and I hold you to a much higher standard than that! Acting like people will be demoted for saying the wrong thing feels off too. No one is gonna get busted down for thinking taxes should be lower, or throwing a couple spicy memes in the squad group chat. You might catch a counseling if it's something that crosses a line, but it would require some serious effort, consistency, and negative effect to require a demotion. Joking "damn Morales I thought you'd be better at this your family has a history of getting over walla" at PT is a very different thing than putting "I think all Mexicans are evil rapists and should leave or we'll kill them" Every time someone vaguely brown does a crime in the country. The argument about preferential promotion is the only real valid argument, but your friend (forgot his name sorry!) Correctly pointed out that it would require an overhaul of the entire promotion system, which isn't being seriously suggested by anyone. Politicization of the military is only really happening because of the right wing backlash to woke concepts. There's nothing political about the FACT that certain demographics typically face different/more challenges than others. Increasing the understanding of our teammates lives builds trust and understanding, which directly helps readiness.
If all these politicians begin to be indicted once out of office for having classified documents isn't that a good thing for our national security as a deterrent from politicians being careless in the future?
I mean they should be held accountable. I think the main reason why it feels politically motivated is the double standard, not that it's a wrongful indictment. But Trump also tried to cover it up and obstruct the investigators while all other cases had the public official cooperate. It's like getting pulled over for speeding. You can accept the ticket, or make a run for it. The latter gets you in way deeper into trouble which is what Trump has done.
You should be concerned that you're so eager to "come together" with the traitorous fascists currently threatening the entire concept of America as a nation. You should be especially concerned that you needed to be fucking told that. Go read MLK's thoughts on "white moderates" like yourself. Spoiler; not a fan. In fact, he called you and your cowardly lot a greater threat to civil rights than the outspoken bigots.
What does hurt US military is small production capacities of heavy ammunition. Ukraine uses a lot and its scary whats gonna happen in case chubby Xi will decide to start something
The US has a systemic issue with their supply lines. A lot of America production capacity, you know that key element to winning WW2, has been shipped overseas. If we went to war today, it would take many years to get production up to speed. The Navy in particular is hit hard by this. Domestic shipbuilding is declining, so when the US Navy goes to order new ships, they take longer to design and build and the quality is bad resulting in brand new ships actually cracking at the seams and being decommissioned in a matter of years, not decades.
There are recruiting issues, but retention is exceeding goals easily according to a recent report. So to me that's strong evidence that older troops, who you'd think would be more anti-woke, are fine with staying in.
@Justanotherconsumer A good point but a few things: the army met its retention goals in 2022 and 2021 as well as this year. Economy was still running hot for part of that. Even parts that deploy much more often like army air defense have 100%+ retention. The military personnel interviewed suggest it has to do with allowing more flexibility in where you are based. Which ever it is, the army is doing studies to determine what are the most important factors influencing retention.
retention if you're far invested is a little different to walk away from but morals and principles are great arguments for staying and fighting unless the career dollar is the prevailing force.
@@Primordial... unfortunately army pay, especially at the lower ranks, is low enough and cost of living is now high enough that if you want a family, you can’t feed them pride and honor and patriotism. Money doesn’t motivate people much, but lack of money does, and the point at which more money ceases to be an issue is well above the pay grade of the boots on the ground.
The military is socialised: people want healthcare; education; housing; quality schooling for their children; infrastructure; support and so on, so i am confused that many are right leaning (economic system position), and conservative (community position), which is antithetical to what they love and demand from the military system.
all i know is if america is a "woke" army and russia is a "non-woke" army, ill take the woke army everytime. in fact a woke army crushes a non-woke army
I love when anyone brings up operation northwoods the look on peoples faces is always a I don’t/ can’t accept the truth, better than that is when you warm them up with operation sea spray.
Does anyone know if this is available as a RSS feed traditional podcast? I can't seem to find it. And I don't want to lose this to the UA-cam algorithms
You guys touched on the issue with Trump around 59:00: "Willful Retention of NDI." You should read the indictment in full and find out why it is different from the other cases (not excusing those cases, but comparing them is a false equivalence).
Greetings from Colorado! This was interesting. I think you need a little bit more structure in order to allow you to consistently be conversational-two guys in a bar after 18 holes or three sets of tennis. Casual. I'm looking forward to how this evolves. Break a leg!
Basically you shouldn't care about your military reflecting the "values" of your society, the only thing that truly matters is whether or not they are a capable, efficient fighting force. Obviously there are certain things you can't condone but soldier behaviour should be based on discipline and not social values.
I dunno, I'd rather not have a military full of rapists. Is it too woke for military victims of sexual assualt by what should be their brothers in arms to report the crime? Is it too woke to allow Sikh soldiers to retain their cultural customs that put them outside of uniform, even though Sikh soldiers are usually pretty fantastic soldiers? Sikh men carry a ceremonial dagger which carried in order to defend the defenseless. American soldiers should reflect American values, they're American. We believe in fighting on the right side of history. The US Army prides itself in ending Slavery, for integrating before it was accepted by the rest of the US. Are these too woke? If lgbtqa+ want to serve, they should get to serve. If fat people want to serve, they should go to a special fat camp to get in shape, and have to commit to at least equal time in the reserves after getting in shape to go to boot camp. And really, Congress should be investigating why the new generation of citizens do meet the fitness standards for recruitment and address those root causes as a matter strategic importance. The NHS arose in the UK after the government found out about the poor health of the public via the draft during WW1 and 2. The US discovered similar things in WW2, which saw a larger dedicated investment to improve childhood nutrition and health education in public schools.
16 distorted armor is unacceptable for the US, but when was the last time we went up against a near peer adversary without air superiority? Our losses would be the same if we did.
Seriously, you just send in a team with vans and move the docs. No pics, signal disrupters, bury it in the dark. They are treating him like a private instead of a president.
Great video. General Mille's point was extremely well made and completely correct, people need to understand the issues and what people are talking about, ignorance doesn't work for the military (perhaps it does for politicians!) Mille deserved defending.
The Armenian and Azeri militaries from the components of the local Soviet military. The officers largely went to Azerbaijan and the men mostly enrolled with Armenia. That is just one way a military can split. Among the many ways military and civilian components can come together to dominate a society there are an equal number of concerning ways that military and civilian components can break apart.
What would you guys think about using the CV90:s covering against lowflying choppers(KA-52:s) that took out the Bradleys. The Bofors 40mm 3-p proximityfused would have been able to give SHORAD and probably saved alot of expensive equipment. Sweet podcast by the way. Hi from Sweden🇸🇪🇺🇸
What you are saying makes a lot of sense and would be a good idea IF the KA52's were operating closer to the front. Those choppers were 11k or more behind the lines as their ATGM's have the ability to strike UA armor at a very long distance and even the German Gephards wouldn't be able to hit them. Since the Bradly's nor the Leopard 2's have any type of radar, they were probably not even aware they were being hit by aviation assets. You can't shoot something you can't see? I doubt that even MANPAD's would have worked. Moving their intermediate anti air defense assets closer to the front lines may be the only option? That may create more problems than it solves though, as it would make it an easier target for the enemy and stopping drones and missiles are perhaps more of a priority at this point. I hope they come up with a solution ASAP!
@@superdog1964 Yes i agree the range of the Bofors L70 is somwere around ~4000 metres. In Sweden were there are hills and valleys wich the CV9040 were made to fight in rarely would need to make long range shots and could hide and let the lowflying choppers come close using terrain "pits" forcing the enemy close. The terrain in Ukraine seems very unforgiving, its mostly flat, rarely any cover is avalible. Without air support or capable SHORAD in situations like that, its gonna be a shitshow. But atleast alot of the crew survived due to the West actually creates vevhicles that are well protected, valuying the lives of the soldiers. Just get the combined arms strategy perfected and this will likely happen a lot less often.
They need to give Ukraine the longer range missiles and ok to strike up to 25km into Russia only military targets. Else it’ll be just like Afghanistan/Pakistan Border.
WWWhat? Ignorance is NOT bliss ! I am shocked, shocked. The Russians, love their conscripts, and aren't they doing well in Ukraine? Whereas the American military crushes all before it, motivation, education, integration and training. Knowledge and enlightenment, it's a beautiful thing!
Era of "Wokeness" 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 i just woke up to be awakening!!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Real civilized issues being distorted for political and financial gain. Got to love it!!!
I think an average militaryman should do construction work. It is a great capability to have in peace time, war time, and personal carrier. A lot of military facilities in the States are in disrepair and the militarymen stationed there do nothing about them. If they are ordered to learn and repair those facilities, it saves the taxpayers a lot of money, improves the health of the militarymen stationed, and cultivates useful skills for those militarymen for the civilian life to come. The Roman soldiers were both fighters and builders. Imagine some troops are deployed to an active warzone for defensive task. Some of them can fight, while others can build defensive fortifications. That's exactly what the Romans did. They built fortifications or siege equipment under enemy fire.
Great chat! Regarding US forces fighting in the Arctic - Actually the US went to war with Russia in the 1920s and fought in the Arctic. Again the war has nothing to do with Ukraine becoming part of NATO (only in so much as it would make Ukraine impossilbe to attack), Russia invaded and occupied crimea, dontesk and Luhansk as Ukranie discovered large amounts of oil and gas under them - which would have potentially out competed Russia. Ukraine then cut the water supply off to Crimea, which meant them unable to hold Crimea wihtout taking the end of the canal, hence the invasion.... it was all about oil and gas. The A10s would likely be shot down in the environment in Ukraine. I do disagree with you in terms of drawing paralells between Obarma, Hilary, and Trump. Obama did encourage the use of social media but it wasn't selective and deliberately targeting certain people - everyone was able to see all the information that was there. Similarly Hilary used an insecure e-mail server, that's an awful lot different from taking boxes of secrets including nuclear ones and keeping them despite being asked to return them and deliberately hiding them and having his lawyers lie for him (without knowing it) when federal agents came to get them. Simliarly Biden immediately returned them - yes there are always going to be cockups and accidents, which should be forgiven, but Trump was doing it deliberately and knowingly.... I disagree with you that Trump is harmless I think he is extremely dangerous - he's set dangerous precedents - storming the captial building etc.
5:40 Lol...True, but it was often an effective morale booster, since it made your brain snap into place again. It kills time; It breaks the monotony. It can be a good thing. But, Dang! Sometimes you just want to tell that person to STFU...lol
Gotta say, been in 25 years this month and the military has been a constant reflection of the youth they recruit in massive droves. In my current senior position, I see leadership that cannot adapt their style to the new youth and constantly talk about the good ol days of when they came up. This crusty mindset has been in the military for as long as I can remember and the fact that it's being labeled anti-woke in any way is just flat out ignorant to how the military operates and is reflective of the current culture. The melting pot that is the military and the fact that young teens usually care less about this kinda stuff means they usually judge a person on their true character versus some political ideology. This labeling the military woke will die down and the next talking point will soon take center stage, we as a military entity will keep doing our job and move the F on. Also, Trump's actions when it came to the classified docs isn't in the same ballpark as Biden, Pence or any other senior political figure that often work from home or their academic institutions they are aligned with. The overwhelming majority of inadvertent spillages like this are handled very professionally by all parties involved and the violators are almost always 100% compliant. Trump spent over a year dodging, ducking, diving, deflecting and dodging the DOJ and National Archives. Keep up the good work and pleasure to watch some average dudes just keeping their support going in other avenues.

30:50 Yessir; But, when your strategy has been to flatten the city, call it a win, and keep going forward, and your strategy has been "working" for you; Then there's really no need to adapt your TTPs, right? Lol
There are 1.4 million members of the U.S. military. That averages out to be four hours of training for each member of the service. A majority of that training is most likely computer-based. If you have ever spent time in the military, you know, that shit gets pencil-whipped real quick. So what are we talking about here?
You guys should do a podcast with the guys from the unsubscribed podcast, all former military. At least get the fat electrician on there, he’s so knowledgeable on the military and military history and he’s funny as hell. Quackbang out!😂
You were so close on the trump stuff. They did tell him to knock it off multiple times and unlike all the others you listed he still wouldn’t. They finally had to decide that he had to “find out”
Just had a 15 minutes to listen, but just 5 cents: 1. "We're defending our country" - no, not really, only in terms of being the most wealthy by sucking wealth out of others and killing those who resists. I think i don't really have to remind you about all the wars US have started in last few decades. 2. "Western military is separated from the politics" - again what a joke, what you were guys doing in Iraq or Libya lol? Saving some democracy or have they took Mickey Mouse a hostage ? Still I understand that an order is an order as we say in Russia. 3. Wokeism... Well this is interesting topic indeed: First of all this is a cursed ideology that was presented to US as a final gift of USSR before it died. Not sure if you've watched Yuri Bezmenov's videos, but you can educate yourself. Second thing is that wokeism undermined the very foundations of US: religion and family at least. So the more woke you guys would become the worse it will be for you in future.
@@ubcroel4022 because SOF wants people who can think critically and act in ways that won't alienate local populations. You're also not gonna get selected if you don't work well with others, and being anti woke is a great way of telling on yourself that you can't empathize with people who are different.

all i can say is if america's military is an example of a "woke" military" and the russian army is the example of a non-woke military then ill take the woke military everytime.
Sensitivity training gets a lot of flak (from me as well), it can be irritating or infantalizing (especially when delivered by someone who doesn't get their audience or understand the crossover subjects), but it ultimately serves a readiness purpose. I have met people who are so insecure and irrational in their hatred of what they've been told is not masculine that it becomes a problem, I've met people who were so racist that it became a problem, and I have seen those people who are on the far end of things can start creating an expanding insular environment for themselves. It's a sad and debilitating circumstance for them and for an institution. Even with the added perspective of my brief work as a counselor I've only gotten a taste of it compared to what my father experienced and observed during the 1960's on through the 1990's. I agree with Cappy, I'm well aware of the foreign intentions in cultural warfare, but it's important to realize those malignant intentions are relying on division and incompetence. Dispelling irrational fear is dispelling division, dispelling emotional blindness is dispelling incompetence. Getting politicians to demonize military leadership to the primary recruiting pool? Now that's cultural warfare done right. I think sometimes younger generations fail to realize that the leadership is trying to develop a balancing act between complex and competing cultural systems that aren't fully realized yet but have in the past and may in the future, and the people who know what to look out for are in military leadership. I think most of the time we don't realize just how formidably intelligent high ranking military officers have to be, and this popular complaint of incompetent leadership is a simplified interpretation from the reality of managing mind-boggling amounts of information and deeply detailed conjecture. The politicians that leverage these doubts and misgivings haphazardly for a cultural war do it, even if they know it's evil, and they view trust as a drillable resource that can be converted into fear which then protects them from their own constituency. They do this because their true motives are a pet issue or two and a sweet payout for playing along, everything and everybody else is expendable to them. This really isn't the place for an essay, but hopefully this helps somebody else out there to put some pieces together.
Great analysis of those in the Congress who I would say have their feet on the traitor line. Political advantage is completely unacceptable when it puts the country at risk. The elephant party needs to dump the orange NPD menace who loves Putin (our absolute mortal enemy) who threatened NATO with nuclear weapons and also intentionally kept defense and intelligence secrets in an unsecured bathroom when he was a civilian. The elephant party used to understand that being hyperpatriots meant opposing our real enemies overseas, not making up fake enemies at home to destroy the country from within. The whole trans craze (less than .5% of the population) is just the latest hatred outlet since sex, race, and gay are now generally off the table for open division and hatred.
it's not "people with an irrational fear and hatred" it's "people who are fucking sick and tired of having this topic shoved down our throat's 24/7 and having EVERY SINGLE GD MOVIE, SHOW, AND VIDEO GAME having their main character, in OVER 90% OF CASES IN THE LAST FEW YEARS, be race/gender/sexuality swapped, it's fucking EXHAUSTING... and i'm as diehard left leaning as you can get and even i'm beyond sick to death of it..... it's INSANE.... you love who you want, be who you want.. but STOP SHOVING IT DOWN MINE AND EVERYONE ELSE'S GOD DAMN THROAT!!!!!!!!!! that's the issue not..... the tiny percentage of lunatics that have an ACTUAL 'irrational fear and racism and blah blah" those people aren't gonna have their damn mind changed by sensitivity training and having it shoved down their throat 24/7... it's gonna make them hate it even more and potentially snap lol

I disagree on the dismissal of which woke issues are a concern, like my issue is the lowering of standards to let people get in. Standards should be standardized across the board in my opinion and there should be more wiggle room in what speech is permitted in my opinion. However you points on what you see as the issues to look out for are also relevant I just think that one leads to the other and we’re seeing the first stages of that.
Maybe you should consider why you're so eager to destroy the mutual respect between servicemembers that is the basis of the unit cohesion required for modern operations in order to support your lazy fascist bigotries.
I thought the Bradley's in those pictures hit mines along with the leopard tanks. It's the guy in front hits a mine. Why do the rest of them rush up there and get blown up too? I don't understand I was a Sonar technician in the navy. Could somebody explain that please
the other Bradleys came up to rescue the stranded soldiers hiding behind the disabled vehicles from fire. It was mines, artillery fire, and probably also rifle fire. Primarily mines. No idea if arty came before or after but based on the mix of videos, there was likely an artillery strike while they were advancing. But none where the main column got stranded because there's no craters nearby. They had two BRM-2 mine plow to clear the path but they both probably was hit by ATGM or RPGs causing the entire column to halt. And the second Bradley retreating then hit a mine. Mine plows aren't 100% at clearing mines, demining is a multi-step process and very complex. Most modern military prefer to use MCLCs which are these rockets that pull a long tube of explosives to detonate mines as its primary clearing method. Dozers and rollers are like a reassurance for leading a column in case the initial methods missed anything. You also want to do this under smoke coverage with enemy suppressed by artillery fire. All in all, Ukraine lacked sufficient demining assets and artillery cover in this assault. They also lacked SHORADS and SPAAG to counter attack helicopters which we seen footage of them hitting Ukrainian columns.
Which Trump did as president many times without legal consequence. Once he left office, he lost that power and in the charges they have audio of him telling someone that he should have declassified these things but now it's too late. The thing left undiscussed inls former Presidents often retain clearance and receive regular security briefings on topics. They have bona fide experience and sometimes personal knowledge of foreign leaders. My concern is Trump being an ongoing security threat.
Dude the national air guardsman is already going to trial for revealing documents to get people on a Discord Server to be impressed with him. If you read the Indictment, Trump was essentially doing the same thing: keeping top secret documents for bragging rights. The difference in timing is Trump was a senior level politician and not some grunt.
“A soldier” doesn’t have ultimate declassification authority. Information can only be declassified by the flag-grade officer or civilian equivalent that originally classified it or by the President.
Please look into the absolute horrors committed in Vietnam and Korean during their respective wars. The chemical and biological warfare that the US engaged in in those countries killed millions and still has lasting impacts on the land and its people.
Wrong. US never used biological warfare. Chemical yes and only in Vietnam. And that needs to be caveat that Agent Orange was intended to destroy crops(still horrible considering the indiscriminate nature) not kill people. Problem was agent orange turned out to be toxic to humans(despite advertised as otherwise) and there is evidence that at least the manufacturer knew of this, and so possibly US military leadership. US never used any lethal chemical agents during Korea. The worst aspect of US campaigns during either would have to be massacres(not state sanctioned but still censored from the public to avoid scrutiny) that its troops has done and strategic bombing campaigns that were by nature inherently indiscriminate. Although strategic bombing at the time were still in vogue and largely considered 'militarily relevant' strategy by most countries. Some still deny its obsolescence, but I think we have about 100 years of evidence to suggest strategic bombers are not worthwhile.

Where are my combat tomboys, goddamnit!?
@@joe6167you should really just read the indictment. It doesn't take long!
These are terrific conversations. Thanks for the effort y'all put into this pod. Also appreciate the work to make it clean.
"appreciate the work to make it clean" they fucking hate it lol they've literally said multiple times it's only because of the giant PC/demonetization hammer you'll have your fucking head/channel smashed in with if you do anything other than borderline baby talk... "unalive yourself" etc
The argument of wasting time is the weakest argument ever considering how much free time soldiers have.

Oh how innocent.
thanks for the feedback, we were mainly just riffing out that issue so theres definitely a lot of details in there that we missed and things we're not aware of

I agree with letting in anyone who meets the standards. But don't push it as the selling point or endorse punishment of wrong think.
In short, conservatives only care when resources are being spent on something they don't like, and have yet to prove to anyone that they can reallocate said resources effectively, or even have the desire to do so, rather than just cutting funding from things they don't like
If segregated units (or military literally being seperared) didn't break us up outrage politics isn't either.
I haven't watched the whole thing yet but we had a situation when we were deployed where a guy from another company actually drew his weapon on one of our black soldiers and we were all pissed about it. I don't recall what, if anything, happened to the other soldier though.

The people with these skills aren't attracted to being screeched at all day. So now we have a MAJOR shortage of these professions we desperately need to stay competitive.
There's a workforce shortage nationwide if the talking heads are to be believed so it's not surprising the military is also affected

I think he even initially lied about having the top secret documents at first before eventually admitting he had them, which is when he started saying he’d “declassified” them with his magical declassifying mind powers because he knew he’d been caught. All he had to do was give it back and he would have gotten the same treatment everybody else did.
Oh. Well that makes sense why they raided him then.

Great Podcast. Americans need real conversations like this. The divide is 100% real. When we need to come together!
Maybe future video about small arms caliber armor piercing ammo like tungsten & depleted uranium?
What does hurt US military is small production capacities of heavy ammunition. Ukraine uses a lot and its scary whats gonna happen in case chubby Xi will decide to start something
Fighting Pooh is gonna be Navy first, so different tools needed.
More munitions!! Get American factories churning boys!! As a nasty girls I want industrial production up stat so I got work!!
The background noise is the economy, though - things are cooling down so there’s not a lot of incentive to jump to the private sector.
All the good troops are already gone and the ones that are ready to get out are finishing up and walking away leavening the whole crowd their mess.
Money doesn’t motivate people much, but lack of money does, and the point at which more money ceases to be an issue is well above the pay grade of the boots on the ground.
also why we have a civilian commander in chief as opposed to a military commander in chief
The military is socialised: people want healthcare; education; housing; quality schooling for their children; infrastructure; support and so on, so i am confused that many are right leaning (economic system position), and conservative (community position), which is antithetical to what they love and demand from the military system.
This is a hot cast, you gotta promote the channel a bit more.
Also Patrick sounds like a cyborg for some reason
Really valuable conversation
Good talk Sempre Fi - be woke was a term the girls used to alert some bad guy(s) are in the group. Street corner talk, circa 1963
all i know is if america is a "woke" army and russia is a "non-woke" army, ill take the woke army everytime. in fact a woke army crushes a non-woke army
I love when anyone brings up operation northwoods the look on peoples faces is always a I don’t/ can’t accept the truth, better than that is when you warm them up with operation sea spray.
I’m stupid, and this gave me a new perspective, solid stuff.
Yeah the national archives did exactly what they said and asked for it back.
Did you read what the Judges said in the Clinton and Obama records court hearings?
Reading the opposition's books is plain sense. I was doing that in the 70's and 80's as a corporal. Sun Tzu says Know your Enemy.
Must have watched “ Renaissance Man” prior to enlisting? ? ?
Greetings from Colorado! This was interesting. I think you need a little bit more structure in order to allow you to consistently be conversational-two guys in a bar after 18 holes or three sets of tennis. Casual. I'm looking forward to how this evolves. Break a leg!
Support our troops!
No, let’s make fun of them for not being the same troops that we were when I was in!
Getting memed upon builds character.
an officer shooting their troops? That's bad. Very bad.

That's a problem. It's a major symptom of past events. GoP needs to be reformed.

Pa a few quid more for better microphone. .. audio a bit tinny .. seems to be picking up on room echo.
Great pod regardless. Looking forward to more.
wut??? you guys clearly don't listen to many podcasts or streamers.... this is fucking audio gold compared to half the podcasts/shows/people out there
The Armenian and Azeri militaries from the components of the local Soviet military. The officers largely went to Azerbaijan and the men mostly enrolled with Armenia.
That is just one way a military can split. Among the many ways military and civilian components can come together to dominate a society there are an equal number of concerning ways that military and civilian components can break apart.
"blue on blue" fire.. LMAO
No REAL MEN LEFT.
@@Len_M. agreed, havent they allready recived ATACMS? But yes give them some of their own medicine!
@@JB-pu8ik well yes War is strange, starange indeed.
WWWhat? Ignorance is NOT bliss ! I am shocked, shocked. The Russians, love their conscripts, and aren't they doing well in Ukraine? Whereas the American military crushes all before it, motivation, education, integration and training. Knowledge and enlightenment, it's a beautiful thing!
And tbh, I think it's better for you to be able to hold your president to the same standard according to the law, even it would be painful initially.
Heck yeah. Everyone on the left is super into prosecuting all criminal politicians.
Not putting the President on a pedestal is a good thing.

Remember kids, the cockpit of a F-22 identifies as a safe space.
It doesn’t matter if “Wokeness” doesn’t affect the military or not. It’s just not needed in the military at all. It’s not needed anywhere.
Define wokeness for us please. The term is being sprayed indiscriminately on everything around these days.

Keep up the good work and pleasure to watch some average dudes just keeping their support going in other avenues.
really wish these guys would read some of the comments or interact/like them so we know they're getting info like this.... idk how the FUCK someone their age(i'm younger i THINK but not by much) can NOT know any of the shit you said about the documents, it's been LITERALLY FUCKING EVERYWHERE NONSTOP FOR MONTHS now, Cappy CLEARLY spends time online and researching topics... it's gotta be fuckin IMPOSSIBLE to have not seen/hear that info unless he's a dirty trump lover and just doesn't wanna admit it lmao
I never served, but I did watch a UA-cam video about it. :) Keep up the great work. Nice to have a trustworthy source of info on Ukraine.
Politics. It sounds like a big number.
Hey, Cappy in Israel isn't the most compliment officer in command of the unit not the highest ranking officer?
Alot of rich kids? Hahaha the rich don't send their kids to war, only the poor.
You guys should do a podcast with the guys from the unsubscribed podcast, all former military. At least get the fat electrician on there, he’s so knowledgeable on the military and military history and he’s funny as hell.

What does he mean by the US manipulated Russia in invading Afghanistan?
I don't think he understands it clearly himself.

Just had a 15 minutes to listen, but just 5 cents:
3. Wokeism... Well this is interesting topic indeed:
First of all this is a cursed ideology that was presented to US as a final gift of USSR before it died. Not sure if you've watched Yuri Bezmenov's videos, but you can educate yourself.
Second thing is that wokeism undermined the very foundations of US: religion and family at least. So the more woke you guys would become the worse it will be for you in future.
I want to go the SOF route when I enlist so I’d imagine they’d be less likely to care about woke agenda in that tight knit community
SOF is not the route you wanna go if you want to avoid wokeness lmao
@@yowman98 why so?
@@ubcroel4022 because SOF wants people who can think critically and act in ways that won't alienate local populations. You're also not gonna get selected if you don't work well with others, and being anti woke is a great way of telling on yourself that you can't empathize with people who are different.

The US just got beaten in a land war. Hello Afghanistan
I think they were older Bradley's with reactive armor removed.
@39:00 they're an independent country and are allowed to try to join NATO if they want.
Any president can defacto declassify any document they talk about. It has always been necessary for diplomacy with foreign leaders and diplomats.
While that is correct, You cannot declassify after you are no longer president. There is a process for that.
If a soldier did the same things as Trump they would already be in prison with a life sentence.
And nuclear testing by the US… omg but I still love being a US citizen!!
