Nice piece! Lucky kid in more ways than one. That's kind of you to help him out & stoke his interest in opals. But to be expected, lol what you do for all of us! Thanks for being a gem of a guy!
Somehow this kid found a bunch of solid stone! Sure a lot of low grade crystal but some absolute stunners. I reckon if I dig around again I might be able to find another.
Its a strange feeling cutting someone elses stone. Rapidly alternating between excitement, caution, fear, jealousy, happiness and maybe a few others. A gifted youngster I think.
@@RoysRocks I can imagine 🙂 I've been unable to get started myself so far, covid closed my club down before I really got going. I've met a couple of great people who have been happy to cut my material, but others who simply don't want the responsibility - I totally relate to that! He sounds like a great kid 🙂
@@glynsutherland6353 Ah thats tough. I know most clubs have come to a complete standstill with all the pandemic stuff. I can't imagine what it is like to be payed to cut material for others. That would double the anxiety of cutting another persons stone.
Wow, lovely find! Super kind to do that for a youngster, that could be the inspiration he needs to become one of us crazies who constantly dream of rainbow rocks! Very jealous of those sintered burrs!
I just re visit this one it amazing I just watched all completed work UA-cam of this. they’ve transformed to beautiful opals. From theses rocks. Go! Roy! You are rocks!
you all prolly dont give a shit but does someone know of a way to get back into an instagram account..? I was dumb lost my account password. I appreciate any tips you can offer me.
@Sonny Roy I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and im trying it out atm. I see it takes a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
Yeah especially without really knowing what to look for. He was pick grabbing anything with a hint of colour or just looked semi opal like. He has some nice half shells I left him to free from their rocks as well.
Good for the kid that found the stones and good for you helping him get in to opals 👍 that is a really nice looking gem, now he will be hooked for life lol. Thank you for converting the temperature from Celsius To Fahrenheit. I'm american and we learned the metric system in school or I did anyway but I must have missed the day when they thought the temperature in Celsius because I just don't get it for some reason haha, I'm from southern California, it gets hot like that where I live also, so I know how it feels 🌞 I'm in the Mojave desert just 60 miles north east of downtown LA and last summer I think the hottest day in my area was 115°f but the entire month of August was like living on planet Mercury. I think death valley got up to 137° or something crazy.. well anyway, thanks for the video Roy 👍 great work!
He'll probably become an opal addict after this stone. I love when young kids get into it. They'll become experts before they are 20 if they get in early enough. I see why they call it Death Valley with temperatures like that!
Man I LOVE watching those videos. The catfish I'm used to catching here are tiny compared to those monsters! You guys don't mess around breeding those things.
Really awesome, wish I had got into the hobby when I was younger. One thing stuck out in this video. You've been using the same song for awhile now in the background. Maybe change it up Abit. Some Pink Floyd, some Led Zeppelin, maybe some Flight of the Valkyries lol?
Where did you get the sintered bits and Nova wheels? Mine aren't sintered and they run out fast. Also probably a dumb question, but is all of Australia hot?
Sintered bits I get made in China and I restock bit my supply is limited since I'm not made of money and I spend it all on opal LOL. I do sell them for $70 a set when I do get them in but there is a long waitlist building. Yeah this time of year all of Aus gets pretty hot 30+ degrees Celsius (Tasmania is the coolest).
No you have to stand in there and show us results lol - Do or Die!! btw for the first rock even you get 1 carat its a winner - damn not even the end result and damn she is a damn beauty!!!!
Yeah I had high hopes but this one blew them out of the water. I'll be real careful and not shape it too aggressively and see it we can keep the piece over 1ct. Kids are way more into size than shape I reckon.
@@RoysRocks heheh yes I agree, if he is into shapes then it will give him something to look forward to in the future as something he could try his hand at.

Fantastic opal. It’s great you helping out the next generation. He is going to be so happy.
I hope so. Hopefully he is hitting some pieces with the sandpaper method this weekend.
That is a lovely thing to do for this young man. Your heart is in the right place. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Hoping to give him opal fever.
Next time he goes out I'll have to yeatag along. He might be a good luck charm or it was just beginners luck.
Awesome stone! That kid is going to be ecstatic on the find, great work the both of you!
No need to mine if he can just pluck stuff like this out of dirt mounds.
What a brilliant find, the kid's going to be so pleased!
I hope so. Then I can send him out to Coober Pedy every holidays and find more. =)
That's a good deed and a lovely gem there Roy .
Yeah i wish it was my stone it is so nice 😂
The young man has a good eye to have picked those up. He’s a natural!
That’s a gorgeous opal. ❤️
He certainly plucked a lot of great pieces out of the dirt.
that is a stunning piece of rough to find noodling in half an hour. I would be thrilled to even buy something like that.
I know miners that would love to find bits of colour like that after a few days of potch. This kid hit such a good pile of discarded material.
Nice colors.. Full spectrum nearly.. Good stone... Hopefully! 👍
It's looking good so far. Might finish it today (fingers crossed).
Good vibes, man. Great stuff. Super glad I subscribed. One of my favorite UA-cam channels now.
Haha thanks.
Amazing, I found only small low colour piece huddling in Coober, but that’s amazing
Yeah that's what many end up finding... Maybe we all just need younger eyes?
Wow, lovely find! Super kind to do that for a youngster, that could be the inspiration he needs to become one of us crazies who constantly dream of rainbow rocks! Very jealous of those sintered burrs!
As long as it is enough inspiration to get him going im happy with that. 🙂
Wow, amazing find!!!
Yeah i couldn't believe it. Actually I don't think he could either.

Hopefully they convert to tomorrow's experts. 🤞
Great video,American noodling is completely different from Australian noodling. Noodling here in the states is catching catfish bare handed lol
Man I LOVE watching those videos. The catfish I'm used to catching here are tiny compared to those monsters! You guys don't mess around breeding those things.

I do that and youtube will probably straight wipe my channel off the face of the earth. I am weighing up some alternatives though.

That's so crazy! It's -10c here today! I will be looking up "noodeling" after this hahah. Those are some very nice pieces!
Noodling is basically rummaging around on dirt piles praying that a miner threw something good out.
@@RoysRocks Hahaha wow! I wish!
Yeah i wish I had this kinda luck as well. I'm sure if I went noodling I'd find absolutely nothing.
@@RoysRocks you don’t know until you try! That would make a great video!!
@@mackie_p When we get over summer I'll get out there for a few weekends. Only an 8 hour drive or so.
Cold here
If only I could export the heat from here.

Being I'm English what's Noodling?
Similar to fossicking. Pretty much rummaging around in a pile of dirt that has already been checked for opal. Sometimes a gem slips through.
@@RoysRocks ahh right thank you
No worries. I'm going to end up knowing the aus, UK and US equivalent terms for everything overtime with an international audience. 😂🇬🇧🇭🇲🇺🇸
