What to Do if You Can’t Find a Turkey This Thanksgiving

- Big family Thanksgiving dinners are back! Unlike last year, when smaller birds were popular due to the pandemic, many people are wanting bigger birds. And bigger birds require a little more care to prepare. Nicole Johnson, director of the Butterball Turkey Talkline, told Inside Edition, “People don't realize you need 24 hours for every four pounds of turkey meat.” By that math, a 20-pound frozen turkey will take five days in the refrigerator to thaw.
No matter what you have on the table, being thankful for who you're eating it with is the thing with me. Blessings to everyone!
👍👍👍
I agree, Happy Thanksgiving!
obviously not a excuse to eat more food heheh
My table only have dog food 🤮

my aunt happens to not like turkey. her family is used to a delicious italian dinner every november. they love it. dessert, of course, is cherry, apple and /or pumpkin pies. to each his own.
My mom just makes a ton of Mexican food when I come visit for the holidays even though she lives a block or two away from me lol
@@bruhhmoment4641 🤢 can't imagine the gas 💨
I don’t like turkey either my mom just uses a chicken instead
Sameeee
Same here. I usually eat chicken wings instead.
No! If you're making homemade Cranberry sauce, don't use water, use fresh squeezed oj and less sugar, and a bit of lemon zest. You're welcome.
I am going to try that, thank you.
Cranberry sauce with OJ and some orange zest is to die for. It’s so simple to make a homemade sauce and DELICIOUS
THIS
How much oj would you use??
I love watching the cranberries "pop". I also add a splash of oj to mine.
If I cant find Turkey this year its bologna sandwiches for everyone with pretzels and a cup of water
Do you fry your bologna sandwiches?
My family does a roast or ham since my dad can't stand turkey do to that was how his family survived growing up.
Sounds like jail intake.
Can i get some yellow mustard on my sammich please
In my family we eat mres
After defrosting the turkey my mother seasons it with red wine and spices like; Salt, Bpepper, Garlic, Onion, Rosemary, Thyme, Oregano, Smoked-Paprika, Cumin, and a little bit of Soy Sauce. Mix all those spices with the Liquids and put it inside the skin and over it.
Maranate it the entire night before Thanksgiving inside the fridge. The amount of spice depends on the size of your turkey.
I am inviting myself to have a thanksgiving meal at your place.
Yugi turkey
Sounds good
Thyme and rosemary in the turkey is just *chefs kiss*
ill be cumin soon
I don't know what the news is talking about lately cuz I don't see a shortage anywhere and no prices going up I honestly don't understand why they're trying to create panic
I never heard about the shortage of Turkeys, only a shortage of SMALL TURKEYS!! I still see many turkeys and I’m at different Walmarts every other day.
I don't see any shortages, but I do see prices going up.
@@maces1405 Try and check out the sale prices in your ads. My local store is selling Turkeys for $6, $8 and $10 dollars when you buy $25 worth of groceries.
@@maces1405 same here in Philly
You 100% right
Yesterday at my Aldi, there were many turkeys on sale and many people grabbing them. They were 0.45 per pound so I got my 22 pound turkey for $12

@Ladie Kadie it’s literally like chicken
Everything is closed on thanksgiving
@@sadboy5791 but not the day before.
I tried to post a Thanksgiving joke about a turkey...
But it was removed because of fowl language.
Left a like for the corny joke. Made me giggle tho. Hope you have a great thanksgiving
gwahhbble gwaahhaabble
Its not about turkey is about the real meaning of thanks giving.
Well you can always get a rotisserie chicken from costco and say its a small turkey.
Honestly the only thing I care about on Thanksgiving is the parade, I don't eat turkey instead I just eat leftover KFC
Dude, kfc has the best Mac and cheese
@Ladie Kadie he said he eats leftover kfc
That’s actually kind of sad.
This is what I used to do when I had no family or friends to spend Thanksgiving with.
damn that sad
Who else doesn’t eat Turkey? Genuinely want to know.
I don’t eat turkey.
we eat ham most of the time , we've only had turkey once its not that good-
@@kitkatbar1476 cook it better
I don’t. Had it at a family members house once and I’m not a fan or it.
Last year I had a chicken and a duck
As long as you and your loved ones can enjoy a hearty meal that's all that matters.
THANK YOU!!!!!! someone who understand the real meaning of Thanksgiving
Ya it’s all about me and mine screw the rest. That’s what the first thanksgiving we iconized symbolizes.
Yep and there tasty
say it loud for the people in back . yes!
Literally have 4 turkeys and everything I need for Thanksgiving
It doesn’t matter if you have a turkey or not. That is not the point of Thanksgiving. Even if you have to eat Ramen noodle soup, as long as you’re with your family and loved ones? That’s all that matters…
It’s the elites saying let them eat cake and people normalizing lack due to government. Where have we seen this
Nah, you need the Turkey. I already completely ignore halloween, we NEED a Turkey
@@henrywolf5332 I'm sure it's never failed!
@Ladie Kadie Thank god it isnt toilet paper. I still got poison oak from the last time
What if your family is exhausting and only giving you more reasons to move out and go no contact with them?
This video is giving me Great Depression vibes
We do prime rib on Christmas and Thanksgiving. No one has complained ever.
We’ve change the turkey to chicken breasts for the past 3 years and it’s been amazing! You can make chicken dozens of ways and it’s more filling. No carving, everyone gets 1 breast and we have the classic sides
Let’s go Brandon👍🏾 hope your enjoying the inflation
@@seanski77 Bruh let people enjoy their meals
I'm going to Popeyes this Thanksgiving, just like I do every year ☹️
What to do if you can't find a turkey.
Me: Buy a chicken
Same with me. Turkey is a giant chicken
I started raising turkeys last year after worries we wouldn't be able to find one, and now I enjoy my flock of turkeys more than my chickens. I trades chicken eggs and turkey eggs for handyman work needed on my developing tiny homestead, and trade whole turkeys for Thanksgiving already slaughtered, plucked and cleaned ready for cooking for trade as-well. Last season the bird we used Mr. Turk (my daughter named him) for my family ended up dressing out (cooking weight) at 46 lbs and even bent our oven rack.
Sounds awesome. I would get attached to the turkeys unfortunately. I dont think i could eat them when the time came. Lol
@@Jairmyster same here I would want to keep it as a pet
My job gave away 1,000 turkeys as a 'thank you' to the employees for Thanksgiving. Some people didn't want one, so I was given 2 lol. Now I have almost 50 lbs of Turkey in my freezer, and I didn't even pay for them. I feel sorry for those who can't get one, I didn't know there was such a shortage of Turkeys :( I do plan on giving one away....but still, that sucks for those who can't get one.
"Just imagine what Thanksgiving would be without cranberry sause.."
My family: I'm gonna pretend I didn't see that..
I'm not much for turkey at all!!! My daughter and mother really didn't care for it either. Only my hubbie likes it, so we came up with this plan a long time ago. I cook two different proteins.
Turkey and chicken.
I still have two turkey breasts, plenty for leftover sandwiches, for my hubbie, and all the usual fixins' because it's tradition.
I make Chicken Kiev for the rest of us. Anticipating that pool of butter and chives/parsley flood the plate when opened. It's fancy and elegant enough, to be considered a meal for a holiday dinner. Wunderbar.
All of us love all the side dishes that go with both the turkey or Chicken Kiev. Most of this dinner is all make ahead of time. We all love turkey sandwiches though, with leftover stuffing, cranberry jelly, the next day. Everyone can be excited about the dinner instead of getting through a turkey dinner. P.S. Homemade Chicken Kiev can't be compared to the mediocre, store bought frozen ones.
Ugh all that extra work smh
I like the idea of small individual birds.
We have tons of Turkey's were I live. I still got mine early, but we have a lot at every store I have been.
Yeah nachos, chili cheese dogs, wings, and burgers with copious amounts of beer and of course 🏈
If we don’t have a turkey we’ll eat some thing else because my family isn’t getting together for Thanksgiving this year anyway.
Just be thankful for what you have. Some people have nothing at all.
I just bought a Rotesseri Chicken as a Subtitute along with microwaveable mashed potatoes and pecan pie.
As long as I have bread, mashed potatoes, and casserole I'm a happy gal! I dont like even ham or turkey!😊😆
I like hame but I’m all set with this if you add some macaroni and cheese
No pumpkin pie?
It doesnt matter if you have a lot or less in thanksgiving for as long as you celebrate it with people you love and hold dear
3 pple with mr.beast logos r here....in dying of laughter!!!
Good thing my mom already bought her turkey and other things
Is actually pretty interesting but what is even cheaper is not having Thanksgiving dinner at all you can just order a pizza LMAO😂😂😂😂
I like eating stuffing and pumpkin pie on thanksgiving every year 🥧 😋
Media: "in short supply"
My local stores: "YOU GOT A TURKEY. YOU GOT A TURKEY. AND YOU GOT A TURKEY."
P.S. if you can't really find the traditional Thanksgiving diner, try hotpot or asian grill. Everyone have to do some work and it's every hearty and warm for the weather.
That must be nice 💀!!! But Happy Thanksgiving!!!
I usually make fried turkey cutlets, but this year, it'll be fried chicken breasts, chicken gravy and chicken stuffing! (and crescent rolls, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce and mini cherry cheesecake for dessert!)😊
Eat what you love.
Crab, oysters & shrimp sounds good to me!😋
thanksgiving seafood boil feast would be a good idea
yea
and potatoes sausage corn king lobster king crab 100 pound jumbo shrimp and more
Honestly, I know I might get yelled at in the comments.. but chicken is a good substitute for turkey. They both look appetizing and ngl chickens a little better than turkey
I love chicken with homemade cranberry sauce. 😋
Duck
I don’t eat traditional thanksgiving food, my family comes from china, so every holiday our relative come over and we take out a giant hotpot to use.
My kids used to sing a song about having egg foo Yung for Thanksgiving. It's the getting together that makes me happy. Tina
So I know it’s weird but since I don’t know how to cook a whole turkey at 22 y/o, I just do turkey legs and have been for 2 years, everyone gets one and some left over and super easy to cook. Personal mini turkey.
I'm always down for a warm rotisserie chicken🤷

If you don't have a turkey, get you a BB gun and find you a few pigeons.

It’s illegal where I live to shoot at or throw things at any type of bird, there were kids at my old school throwing sticks at birds and the constable had to come by and talk to them, he only gave them a warning because they were kids but they never threw sticks at any birds after that
@@TonyJaaFan1587 well it was a joke because you do not want to eat pigeon, you'd probably get really sick and die.

Just had our dinner earlier today. Broke a glass and a Christmas ornament and still had a great time haha.
I’m grabbing the chopper to steal my neighbor’s turkey. They finna know me as the Grinch who stole turkey.
Hope everyone’s having a good day!
I dont mind maruchan noodle in my table this thanksgiving 😂
If you find anything. Just go to Boston market, honey baked ham co, or any BBQ joint for turkeys and sides and heat it up quick at home
If you can't afford to feed guests, it's okay to just feed your immediate family.
Personally it's blowing my mind that they just had Thanksgiving in our faces super early 😭😭😭😭
I’ve been seeing turkey everywhere. I got my 15 pound turkey for $7 bucks yesterday. I have a feeling this is being overblown.

It’s crazy because this morning when I went to the store for a forgotten ingredient, they were filling up the freezers with turkeys in different sizes and brands. There were hundreds in that store alone
Whoever’s reading this, you’re worth it ❤️
I am making ribs and a rib roast ....my fam doesn't like turkey nor cranberry sauce ....so not really a prob in the Latin community. Loads of turkey s were still visible went I went to pick some bread up
My grandma already has the Christmas ham 😂
We still have a bunch of turkeys for this weekend so just plan this weekend instead of next ofc

The anchor got double Thanksgiving.
I didn’t know what this video was really about until I realized that on the Canadian calendar thanksgiving is in October but for the American calendar thanksgiving is in November.
I will eat turkey if its there but in all honesty, I would eat chicken just the same. Just be sure to have mashed potatoes w/gravy and biscuits and corn and pecan pie.
I've seen tons of turkeys at every store I've been to so far
Good thing its still turkey season, sadly I'm stuck buying turkey this year as that train has pretty much already left the station (sadly I don't have a gun or license yet).
bro now we gonna have a cranberry and Han/hen shortege
I wanted to do Cornish hen last year.
Look for food pantries in your city many give out turkeys and ham during the holidays.
Be thankful that you have food even if it is tin of baked beans.
