Hardenberges is the absolute best there is. Learn from what he has to say.

I have to agree with hakan on this one. Played this piece on bb and actually hated it. The first valve D’s are just so bad compared to playing it open on C.

Lol you can tell the student does NOT want to hear the whole "c trumpet" lecture...

Like harmonica. You buy a box of all 12 🔑 keys. Learned that on a barstool next to a Harp Player name One Eyed Jack. Had a little black box of 'em, all 12.

Hardenberger oversteps the mark here or is he on commission to sell the 'c'.

Not at all. I'm a trumpet player myself. He is spot on about everything he says. This piece is a nightmare on Bb trumpet in regards to the technical requirements and intonation of the horn. Playing on C is the way to go. The chromatic runs and intonation is much better.

HH does not need it. the student, tho, had the audacity to play in front of him out of tune.

I absolute hate watching this. There is no reason to give someone hate for what horn they want to use on a piece. This is ridiculous.

Trolologram except for the fact that he's not hating on him and he's giving him good advice...? He even says at the end of the video that he thinks the guy plays his C very well

He is giving him good advice, not hating. Please edit your comment!

@@Theworldisforent - Amazing to see all of the hateful comments from folks with no evidence of a knowledgeable background. Hakan Hardenberger (one of the best living trumpet soloists) is simply giving this guy some advice that will help him out. Légende is a hard enough piece as it is (playing it on the Bb trumpet introduces a lot of nasty challenges) so offering a different perspective and opinion is great. It's better for him to give this guy some information that gets him thinking differently, and might even help him, rather than supplying him with nothing at all. That's why it's called a....... "Masterclass" :) --- P.S. - I've met Hakan in person, and he's nothing but a wonderful human being that cares deeply about the students he works with.
