They named the album after the song lyric it’s about oli’s experience with drugs and going through hell to recover and become clean and carry on

@@GeometricalPhur yes i remember years back someone asked the bassist on twitter who did the electronic parts on the album and he said skrillex. Oli has also mentioned it in old interviews. The album was recorded in 2010 and at that time skrillex was pretty underground, he hadnt yet reached mainstream appeal

Nah man this was a low point for them. I get the miserable feeling and the music relates but this was noise. Low production value and that style of guitar works really needs to mixed and mastered right or it literally translates as noise and that’s what it sounds like. I can’t listen to most of this album bc it’s like that. Just noise. Olis lyrics were poor and forced feeling as far as structure goes. Dooooont hope to ever find me for instance, doesn’t fit. Don’t like it. I’ve never been their biggest fan but really they were just over hyped at the time. They have some iconic songs and iconic breakdowns but outside of those particular parts the songs just drug on and on. Sempiternal was peak for their heavier side where maturity and quality met with the remnants of their heaviness to produce a solid piece of work. That’s the spirit was their true best work though. I get it if you’re a die by their harder stuff kinda person but in reality that album was beautifully done. Peak metalcore in 2010 was tdwp zombies and the word Alives deceiver. Maybe wormwood if you’re into the heavier djenty doomcore sound.

Hey man! I just wanna give you some context for the lyrics. Oli has seen hell (addiction, mental health issues). And there is a heaven (the high an addict gets) but we have to keep it a secret because that’s dangerous. That’s always what I took from that :)

I think the issue I have with religion and I do respect people who are religious but I feel religious people just use their faith and belief to sometimes cover the reality of a situation, I don't think its fair to turn this review into religious preaching. I completely respect your views and opinions but I'm an atheist and I believe there needs to be proof for anything to exist or for me to believe it exists. Personally to your point early in the video of not understanding why some people don't have a faith when they're going through these kinds of things at least for me personally I had some belief and faith in christianity while going through some of the worst things I could possibly go through and I just kept thinking if there is a god why would he allow me to feel this? Why would he allow my life to constantly fall apart and keep letting me drown in my depression, I'm not speaking for others but that's what happened in my case was I got that low and just questioned things more and more.
