      Univ of GA has far deeper pockets to help Devon.His school Southern Univ is not Divison 1 so they can't do all they can for Devon. It is HBCU school they don't have tons of money to help so Southern would think it is a unfair statement to say. We saw the Georgia side of this great story which is class but it does not mean Southern didn't care for their guy

      Yes, UG was so amazing and handled this with such grace and really stood with the young man that was hurt. I am sure his school would have done more if they could have. He played for Southern University. They don't even have close to the type of money UG a powerhouse SEC school has.

    • @XoeCox
      @XoeCox 6 років тому +15

      @@ShockGtheGreat not at all "broke", but no HBCU school or even smaller schools have nearly the type of money U of G has. This is coming from a proud HBCU graduate. U of G is a powerhouse SEC school. Their sports teams don't even fly commercial. So I'm sure Southern did all they could. UG has deep pockets, so do their boosters and alumni chapters.

    Oddly enough, I'm a die hard UGA fan and have been since birth. The Southern game was one of the first games I got to watch from the comfort of my home after being stuck in the hospital for 50+ days after suffering a Spinal Cord Injury. For me, nobody ever told me if I'd walk again or even play hockey again. Three months before I had just made my first real travel team and then to hear that you may never play the sport that you love again, it was heartbreaking. I hit rockbottom. When I was watching the game and I saw Devon laying on that field not moving his legs, my heart sank and I refused to watch the rest of the game. For the past 2 years, Devon has been a huge inspiration on my road to recovering. Lucky for me, I'm up walking again and playing hockey but a Spinal Cord Injury is something I have to live with for the rest of my life. Throughout the past few years, I've tried to help Devon and his family in any way I could, I even bought a hoodie with the Georgia G followed by ALES. Everytime I see something about Devon it makes my day because I know how it feels to one day lay in a bed not being able to move. He will forever be in my thoughts and I will never forget Devon. I'll always be cheering him on. He's a big part of the Dawg Nation

      Facts... My mom helped me when I was found unresponsive and I remained in a 5 day coma. She was by my side everyday and when I woke up she was so happy. I have sickle cell and I just don't know where I'd be without my mother. I had a hip replacement... My second actually on 8/22/19 and we had to go to Gainesville which is almost a 2 hour drive from Jacksonville and my mom stayed with me the entire 9 days. I'm in a sickle cell pain crisis right now and was screaming in pain so she rubbed my body in the spots it hurt and got my pain medication for me to take. She will be going to work late this morning because she is going to take me to get my oxycodone 15s refilled at 9. Your comment really touched me!

      After 40yrs my mom finally realized she wanted to have a relationship with me. We have an unbelievable relationshp now. It's like a combo of mother/daughter, sisters, and best friends. I am so grateful everyday for this relationship that I could have missed out on. This is why I tell people it is fine to give people space to figure life out and to take space for yourself. Don't close the door completely because you never know how much a person can grow and change and how much you can as well. Forgiveness is an amazing things when we are capable of it. However, I do recognize that there are times when closing the door completely is the best and safest option. I hope those in a similar situation to what I was in are able to experience the beautiful and unique relationship that exists between mother and child. It is only too late when someone passes away.

    Watching these videos brings me to tears. I was in a huge wreck after a 94 year old ran a red Light leaving me on full life support for weeks months in the hospital and broke my neck, back, shattered pelvis, nerve damage down both legs, left side of my heart quit, lung collapse, broken ribs, spleen severed, kidney and liver failure and when I woke up from my coma I had a trach in my neck so couldn’t speak or move and I hated life. I went into the hospital weighing 194 when I left the hospital I weighed below 120 and I begged for death every day I wasn’t able to speak for over 3 months had to learn how to swallow and everything again and completely gave up on the idea of walking again. My dad came to me and told me the wreck wasn’t my fault but me sitting in bed is my fault even tho I’m in constant pain and had two caitheters I tried but lost hope and now almost two years later I’m officially out of my wheelchair and as of last month put my walker in my car and now use a Cain for very short distances

      Got hit by a car 14 years ago. Took me two weeks to realize i am changed forever. Everyday i physically struggle to get out of bed; no one wants to hire me; people pity me and think i am weak and need assistance. But i did not let go. I am broken but not beaten. Got a family, found ways to make money, and feel strong and independent within my limits. Accept what you can not change, change what you can control and learn to distinguish between the two. 🙌

      I think he means that there's white people that are racist and stuff, and there's some black people that associate that small group with all white people and usually end up on the internet for attacking someone or something, thus making white people associate that small group with all black people... If that makes any sense...
      Anyway, it's a bad cycle that causes people to have negative viewpoints on people that did nothing wrong... It's basically the same with liberals/conservatives and feminists/non-feminists

    Their story is very similar to a story out of my hometown, Rosebud TX (Rosebud Lott Cougars). Happened back in the 80s: David Earl Johnson was paralyzed on the field during a game against Cameron Yoe. Him and another player collided head first but he was the only one physically hurt. Guy that hit him, Dean, blamed himself for years and because of it he turned to drugs. David Earl always had high spirits throughout the rest of his life. Ended up passing a few years ago because of complications from the incident. Rosebud has a street named after him and his high school Jersey is retired. These two men here are amazing. Stay friends guys and everything will be ok. Prayers for the both of you. (RIP David Earl & Dean)

    Playing high school football was great, but I'm never letting my kids play.. Hate to see something like this happen when they were losing 48-6. As much as teammates talking about being brothers for life, I sure don't talk with anyone I played ball with. Not worth the lifetime sacrifice. Equally sad to see the disrespect from the three Georgia players who walked over him when he was clearly injured.

    I just cried my eyes out I’m from Baton Rouge and in the summer of 2016 I was going to a camp and on our shirts we had a jersey wit 33 on the front and on the back it says “in support of #33 Devon gales” I never really paid much attention to it because I just wanted to go have fun. I knew of what happened but I never really seen the video to justify of see the real thing, just from a news clip on the news, like Ik he was paralyzed but I didn’t know how!! As I’m watching this I just think of how humble he is and how grateful ! Lord bless him plzz 🥺🙏🏾!! Marshall also ! Ps: I found the shirt and I have it on Rightt now!! Feels good to wear it, it holds a strong meaning for me now !

    A year later this shows up in my recommended. But this happened to a kid a grade below me in HS. Snapped his neck, head brace and bound to a wheelchair for a year. Luckily enough he was still alive. The player who targeted him (unintentional as they were both committed to the dive) and him became best friends and still are to this day, 5 years later. Similar story, still very powerful.
