Yes, UG was so amazing and handled this with such grace and really stood with the young man that was hurt. I am sure his school would have done more if they could have. He played for Southern University. They don't even have close to the type of money UG a powerhouse SEC school has.

Oddly enough, I'm a die hard UGA fan and have been since birth. The Southern game was one of the first games I got to watch from the comfort of my home after being stuck in the hospital for 50+ days after suffering a Spinal Cord Injury. For me, nobody ever told me if I'd walk again or even play hockey again. Three months before I had just made my first real travel team and then to hear that you may never play the sport that you love again, it was heartbreaking. I hit rockbottom. When I was watching the game and I saw Devon laying on that field not moving his legs, my heart sank and I refused to watch the rest of the game. For the past 2 years, Devon has been a huge inspiration on my road to recovering. Lucky for me, I'm up walking again and playing hockey but a Spinal Cord Injury is something I have to live with for the rest of my life. Throughout the past few years, I've tried to help Devon and his family in any way I could, I even bought a hoodie with the Georgia G followed by ALES. Everytime I see something about Devon it makes my day because I know how it feels to one day lay in a bed not being able to move. He will forever be in my thoughts and I will never forget Devon. I'll always be cheering him on. He's a big part of the Dawg Nation
Facts... My mom helped me when I was found unresponsive and I remained in a 5 day coma. She was by my side everyday and when I woke up she was so happy. I have sickle cell and I just don't know where I'd be without my mother. I had a hip replacement... My second actually on 8/22/19 and we had to go to Gainesville which is almost a 2 hour drive from Jacksonville and my mom stayed with me the entire 9 days. I'm in a sickle cell pain crisis right now and was screaming in pain so she rubbed my body in the spots it hurt and got my pain medication for me to take. She will be going to work late this morning because she is going to take me to get my oxycodone 15s refilled at 9. Your comment really touched me!
After 40yrs my mom finally realized she wanted to have a relationship with me. We have an unbelievable relationshp now. It's like a combo of mother/daughter, sisters, and best friends. I am so grateful everyday for this relationship that I could have missed out on. This is why I tell people it is fine to give people space to figure life out and to take space for yourself. Don't close the door completely because you never know how much a person can grow and change and how much you can as well. Forgiveness is an amazing things when we are capable of it. However, I do recognize that there are times when closing the door completely is the best and safest option. I hope those in a similar situation to what I was in are able to experience the beautiful and unique relationship that exists between mother and child. It is only too late when someone passes away.
Watching these videos brings me to tears. I was in a huge wreck after a 94 year old ran a red Light leaving me on full life support for weeks months in the hospital and broke my neck, back, shattered pelvis, nerve damage down both legs, left side of my heart quit, lung collapse, broken ribs, spleen severed, kidney and liver failure and when I woke up from my coma I had a trach in my neck so couldn’t speak or move and I hated life. I went into the hospital weighing 194 when I left the hospital I weighed below 120 and I begged for death every day I wasn’t able to speak for over 3 months had to learn how to swallow and everything again and completely gave up on the idea of walking again. My dad came to me and told me the wreck wasn’t my fault but me sitting in bed is my fault even tho I’m in constant pain and had two caitheters I tried but lost hope and now almost two years later I’m officially out of my wheelchair and as of last month put my walker in my car and now use a Cain for very short distances
Got hit by a car 14 years ago. Took me two weeks to realize i am changed forever. Everyday i physically struggle to get out of bed; no one wants to hire me; people pity me and think i am weak and need assistance. But i did not let go. I am broken but not beaten. Got a family, found ways to make money, and feel strong and independent within my limits. Accept what you can not change, change what you can control and learn to distinguish between the two. 🙌

Devon and Marshall are two grown and amazing men!!!! What an incredible story that such be made into a MOVIE!!🙏🏽♥️♥️ God bless these two men and their families!
I cried because it brought two families together, and showed the strength and love of two families. You two men ROCK! You inspire US! Devon you ARE awesome and so is your friend!
I find it interesting that this Marshall Morgan guy was at first only concerned about what everyone would think of him vs. being concerned about Devon. That was a bit selfish.
poor man :( just seems like genuinely a great person and it sucks to see this happen to him. my grandpa was paralyzed when he was 17 in a horse racing accident that killed some of his friends, and now hes 80 and still living a great life so i hope that devon lives a happy life. props to him for keeping such a positive outlook on life.
Crispy rugby has no pads and the same if not more contact, but has far less injuries, so the sport isn’t exactly dangerous it’s more the people who play it are.
Marshall is a beautiful person with a beautiful heart and I salute you my brother !! Devon stay strong my brother and never give up and I'm praying for you and your family !!
Much respect to the opposing team to helping out bro like that. That wasn't they're player. They didn't have to help with anything but they did. Solid.
A year later this shows up in my recommended. But this happened to a kid a grade below me in HS. Snapped his neck, head brace and bound to a wheelchair for a year. Luckily enough he was still alive. The player who targeted him (unintentional as they were both committed to the dive) and him became best friends and still are to this day, 5 years later. Similar story, still very powerful.
I started crying because I can relate to this story in ways. In other ways I can't because my situation is a bit different. I hope this guy continues getting stronger and better. Some day walks again. As for the two brothers now, it is sad it had to come to this, but I believe things happen for a reason whether we like it or not. God bless both men and their families.
Marshall Morgan grabbed Gales and threw him to the ground which is a flagrant act of unsportsmanlike behavior that almost certainly exacerbated the injury. I cringe every time I see this.
such a shame their friendship had to start this way but it seems like its soemthing theyll have forever.

Devon and Marshall are two grown and amazing men!!!! What an incredible story that such be made into a MOVIE!!🙏🏽♥️♥️ God bless these two men and their families!
Sad but it's a harsh reality when u play football, both of the kids are courageous
I cried because it brought two families together, and showed the strength and love of two families. You two men ROCK! You inspire US! Devon you ARE awesome and so is your friend!
So inspiring
This is incredible that he can do the things after a tragic event
God bless you sir. Keep working hard.
I was a starting corner but was paralyzed in a car accident my sophomore year. Just keep grindin’ man. Things will be different, but better each day.
Shazier made the same mistake with lowering the head while tackling. That's so dangerous. Hope Devon and Shazier overcome their injuries
I find it interesting that this Marshall Morgan guy was at first only concerned about what everyone would think of him vs. being concerned about Devon. That was a bit selfish.
🖒🖒🖒🖒👏👏👏👏👏👏Respect to both
poor man :( just seems like genuinely a great person and it sucks to see this happen to him. my grandpa was paralyzed when he was 17 in a horse racing accident that killed some of his friends, and now hes 80 and still living a great life so i hope that devon lives a happy life. props to him for keeping such a positive outlook on life.
No one going to mention how he is looking fresh from head to toe
Mr. Devon you’re true warrior! Prayers goes to Devon and his family. I truly believe One day you will walk again.
Football is awesome, but it is way too dangerous
Adam Dennison not at all
NC DOZER not at all? I like football but it is extremely dangerous, or one of the most dangerous sports out there, excluding extreme sports.
Crispy rugby has no pads and the same if not more contact, but has far less injuries, so the sport isn’t exactly dangerous it’s more the people who play it are.
Um don’t forget motocross And other sports to
@@ncdozer3103 But Americans play football, and Americans are bigger and stronger.
I’m so happy that they found a great friendship through such a devastating accident
Very eye opening story
Marshall is a beautiful person with a beautiful heart and I salute you my brother !! Devon stay strong my brother and never give up and I'm praying for you and your family !!
who’s cutting onions?
Much respect to the opposing team to helping out bro like that. That wasn't they're player. They didn't have to help with anything but they did. Solid.
I'm not crying, you're crying 😭
this is insperational showing that anything is possible they had faith that he would be on his legs really soon there bond will never be broken
Who else remembers this play?
Jacob Knott I remember being at the game and everybody around us yelling at him to get up because they thought he was faking it…
A year later this shows up in my recommended.
Stay strong young man.
The way he just tossed him to the ground breaks my heart.
Wasn't his fault at all
@@kw7142 I know.
No injury and no chair can ever confine Devon's amazing spirit ! He is still reaching and inspiring others in 2024 !!
Wow gales is the strongest person
Marshall Morgan grabbed Gales and threw him to the ground which is a flagrant act of unsportsmanlike behavior that almost certainly exacerbated the injury. I cringe every time I see this.
3:46 damn if only he knew
