Very good video. One thing to add- when using fixative, if you want to use another layer of chalk or color over it with pencils, use Workable fixative. I didn't know this when I started and I bought the wrong kind.
Debbie N. Oh, I don’t think I have that kind of fixative, but I can still use pencils on top. But Maybe it would work even better with workable fixative!
Here ours comes in either workable fixative or final fixative. I rewatched that part and yours doesn't say either, so they must label it different where you are. If it doesn't say, the importance thing is that it has a mat finish, not glossy.
Great begginers vid for pastels. I don't k ow if it's just me but I have found some fixative sprays to make the pages of my colouring books semi transparent and can sometimes ghost (I think that's the right term) through the page onto the other side. Maybe I'm using too much of that particular spray. So if just caution anyone using them for the first time to go carefully. Thank u for the video xx
Rachel Sharp true, I didn’t think about that! I think that can happen if you use to much fixative, or have the bottle to close to paper. Or Maybe it’s different between different sprays ans different papers. I actually don’t know, but good thing to mention!
@@passionistacolorista9576 I think your right I do tend to get too close never sure if I've covered the page or not I tend to slip a spare sheet of paper under the page I'm spraying just incase. Love your colouring thank u for the tips xx
Rachel Sharp i think that is a good Idea! To have a paper behind the page you are spraying! I do that myself sometime - spray to close, and to much at the same time. I guess it would be better to spray less, and let it dry, and spray more times instead 😆
Passionistacolorista I always mess up with the background and it's frustrating. Excited to try this! Loving your color and now will watch more of your videos. I know I'll learn so much from you. More videos to come. -coloreia
Great information. Thank you. A couple of questions. For the fixative portion, regarding spraying the fixative first, is that for pastel on top of pastel, or can it be pastel-fixative-pencil? I'm very interested in pastel and I have some sidewalk chalk that I bought for my grandkids that I want to try. Thank you for the video. Have a nice day :-)
Shreyi Jhaveri i Just bought the only fixative they had in the shop where I live, so I don’t know what’s the best fixative 🙈 But I think Hair spray works fine!
Wow, looking forward to this. The next step up from pencils.
Thanks so much. I haven’t tried coloring with pastels but I will now.
Rae Addington sorry for super-late answer! Thank you, and I hope you have tried it by now!?
Very nice video my friend. New supporter. Tfs

Coloring With D I’m happy you like it! I don’t know, I always do pastel first, then spray, then pencil
Coloring With D i know that Some people like to use fixative before adding stuff on top, but I have never tried it myself.
Or does hairspray work when done on normal paper
