This design makes Sonic Boom’s look like masterpieces.
Why couldn't he have had cartoony proportions with realistic textures? Detective Pikachu did it! And people love it! (Most of it... but still!)

Just because you don't like that Chris Pratt is playing Mario doesn't mean Nintendo gave away the rights to Mario to some random company, his point still stands. Nintendo owns the rights to the Mario movie and they've stated multiple times they're involved in the movie, at least Nintendo likes whatever voice Chris Pratt is doing for Mario, Sega didn't like Sonic's design, and there was nothing they could do about it

@@silvernick65 what bothers me about this is that Tim Miller is the head of Blur Studios, same guys responsible for the Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic 06 CGI cutscenes. Marza are responsible for Unleashed Onward in terms of CGI... Both know how to do Sonic amongst realistic people, what the hell just happened.

The problem with the Unleashed model is that it's too cartoony for the real world. In fact, Sonic is too cartoony for live action. It's why they had to make him an entirely different character to fit in.

It’s so ugly. His proportions are off, and he seems too much like Sonic Man from ‘06. Imagine other characters, like Silver, Rouge or Vector in this style. The only character that could work in this style is Omega, as he’s a robot. I really hope that’s a placeholder, maybe Paramount will change his design based on this reaction?

This poster started one of the highest grossing video game movie franchises of all time. Most of us thought it would flop and join the pantheon of bad video game movies. But, thanks to an amazing eleventh hour decision, we’re standing on the precipice of the first video game movie trilogy (in recent memory.)

The main problems I have with the design is that Sonic's hands and feet are small, that he has no gloves, and his iconic shoes are completely gone. I have no idea what the eyes look like entirely, but I have a feeling no true Sonic fan is really going to fully appreciate it. Sonic's visual design is more recognizable to me than even the fact that he has super speed, which is why he's my favorite cartoon character of all time. Sega has made the same mistake by having someone else mess up the fundamentals of the Sonic the Hedgehog series just like they did when they outsourced and let Big Red Button develop Sonic Boom Rise of Lyric, and anyone dedicated to the series should know how terrible that game turned out, which made Sonic 06 look like a masterpiece.
