  • For over a thousand years, artisans in Japan have been crafting lacquerware - bowls, storage boxes, and other usable items coated with the sap of the lacquer tree. How are these items made? In this video, a modern artisan demonstrates the meticulous process of coating an object with lacquer and decorating its surface with gold powder.
