Cortana's whole job is the make Master chief better and protect him. I think that's her primary programming. And I think Cortana changed sides when Halsey became a threat to him.
I don't know how many times I looped the "Look at him, frolicking in the park scene".. Just to hear her say it again and again and again.. It was so funny and entertaining at the same time. Loved it.. Loved how she said it.
It's funny but obvious that everyone was was watching and recording their conversation. I'm sure Halsey was watching John lose his virginity - and probably taking notes on his technique!😉
The pellets are only there to suppress their emotions, not to take them away completely, keeping a little speck of free will. So any emotions that are at a really heightened point, will overcome the pellet. That is why Kai took her pellet out, because looking at Chief do it heightened her curiosity. Chief did it because of memories he saw. The memories heightened his curiosity.
Loyalty is embedded into all Spartans to each other, most of all to Master Chief, so that would definitely explain why they would hesitate to kill him. Also Cortana was created from a flash clone of when Halsey still had a conscience, mystery solved
she hesitated for the same reason chief went off mission in the big battle scene a few shows ago. They have been trained since birth to care for one another. they knew kai could take a punch and were not using lethal force on her.
Spartans are deeply connected to each other. They're closer than real brothers and sisters. But siblings do fight and I saw ep 9 preview, all will be fine.
Plus weren't their orders to bring Chief to Halsey? She might kill him as a complete last resort but that wasn't her task so not firing immediately makes perfect sense.
In terms of the initial breaking out of the cuffs for Kai i would imagine its largely leverage. Strength is often surpassed if you dont have the right leverage to and momentum to use it.

I know we all weren't that happy with the helmet and masterchief voice thing, Kwan Ah and Maki character & cortana but is it just me or are things actually heating up (it literally did in ep8) and the plot is actually interesting.
Cortana probably calculated that chief was gonna likely be shot in the head. If his head gets blown up, cortana dies. So thats probably why she changed sides. (Also, she witnessed chief becoming human for the very first time after removing his pill, the equivelant of a blind person gaining sight or a child being born)
Chief was never going to die, halsey's instructions were specifically to capture him, 117 is a great asset for UNSC and Halsey, she would never kill him.
The thing about this series is…although you may dislike or even hate certain aspects of it, it’s difficult to ignore the fact that somehow they manage to pull you in. The action, the drama 🎭 and sometimes the writing isn’t as abysmal as people say it is. Also, I think we just all wanted to see Chief live action so it plays on our nostalgia strings pretty good.
I think by the end of this season, or season two it'll be a more fledged out Master Chief we know from the games, since clearly this is sometime before that. I always saw MC as a symbol of hope for humanity in the games, and i feel like they're building that particular character through all of this.
Seen a lot of people freaking out about the sex scene with how it does not make sense but when you really think about it, it does. Makee since her childhood is obscessed with this romance book and crave for love. MC on the other hand got his emotions back after years of them being supressed so it's understandable that he might stumble with them. Furthermore there is this attraction to one another they feel as Blessed Ones. I doubt they love each other but are chemically attracted to each other and they misunderstand what they are feeling.
My thougths: EP1: "What ? A Human with the Covenant ? NO ! Those Guys glass entire planets to get rid of Humans" EP7: "YES, THATS my Covenant ! oh yeah... rip 11 mio people... but YES GLASSING !"
Interesting episode, I both really liked it, and didn't like it at the same time. For being the second to last episode in the season I feel like not much was accomplished. I don't actually mind John and Makee doing it.. but they only met a few days ago and still don't even know if they can trust each other, give it another week lol. Also why aren't there cameras in that room... or Halsey's for that matter. I liked everything that happened here but most of it could have been covered in a quicker matter. Now with only one episode left how are they going to wrap everything up. I hope it's a two hour episode otherwise idk how they're going to do it in any satisfying way. At least the same director who did episode 5 is doing the finale..
I'm absolutely digging this show... The top notch performances, amazing visual effects and the well choreographed fight scenes make the show even better...
I'm not sure how I feel about this episode. It felt very rom-dram, and it didn't feel like Master Chief or Halo. I feel it didn't really progress the plot very much. It was touching what happened between John and Makee, and it was pretty much everything I hoped for, but nothing was answered and it left me with more questions. It was entertaining, regardless. And I agree - Charlie Murphy does have very sci-fi features. She's sort of exotic and alien looking.
Thankfully the sex stuff won't happen again after he being caught. I think that's the only thing that truly didn't work. First act a bit slow but the 2nd and 3rd act much better.

Oh something to clarify, Blue Team (Silver Team is inspired from) are shown to be closest to each other. That's why Chief tried to tell them "It's me". But the case here is that in Silver Timeline they have those pellets for suppressing emotions but not in the original timeline, where that line would have worked. I think they tried to bring that into this to contrast the ones with pellet and without, exactly why I feel bad for Kai too lol. It is a nice contrast to show that in the original timeline the whole team will follow Master Chief even if he decided to take matters into his own hands (Halo 5 - Guardians) but here he might have the respect but will be put down depending on the orders they receive but with hesitation because he is THE MASTER CHIEF BOIIII
Play the game or at least watch the gameplays of all the Halo games (Halo Wars, Halo Reach, Halo 1, Halo 2, Halo ODST, Halo 3, Halo 4, Halo 5, Halo Wars 2, Halo Infinite), and go watch the movie Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn. They're way better than this show.

Like the fight scenes, the combat like the one in ep 5 is good and all but Chief is so different here than he is in the games, I really wished they given him the Mando treatment (nvr take his helmet off/don't let the audience see his face) and had Steve Downes dub him. The VFX and CGI is amazing but the aesthetically speaking the non main characters is sorta a hit and miss. Some look good, some is porn level of good like the marines aesthetic and some very bad, for example the Elite armor looks worse than H4 version. Like at least in H4 although bulky they're somewhat streamlined. Also they should've solved the copyright issue with Martin O' Donnell and Salvatori, watching a halo tv show without the og Halo music is like eating a bowl of soup with no seasoning. TL;DR: Amazing CGI, VFX and choreography but shitty Chief character along with bg characters with good and bad aesthetics.
I don't know if we're gonna get another big battle scene but I would like to see a clip of Chief using the so called "noob" combo and also a no scope with the sniper rifle...hopefully by the end of next season.

At first chief without the helmet was a big thing but now you are accepting that chief is using the weapon in a bedroom. Im into this depiction of Halo, its guite neatly done imo.

So episode 8 of the show was interesting. They did the sex stuff at the beginning that I wasn't a fan of and felt they took too far, thankfully maybe it won't continue considering now she's been caught, however once that finished the rest of the episode was decent and action was great. I love that this show shows the true power of the Spartans and just how strong and capable they are at being strong and tough especially Chief who takes a beating and is still fighting. Be good finale! If the finale is good then I would happily be excited for next season. It would've come out as a decent season. Not great and not terrible. This show has had issues I acknowledge but I will defend it.🙏 Also get ready this means the Halo jump is coming in the finale!! We still haven't seen it yet!👀

Great episode! The fight really showcased what a huge advantage the Mjolnir gives the Spartans. Love Kai now. She got some great character development this season - I just hope they're not setting us up for a tragic death.
This was a lot better than last week's episode. I think we all knew after that orgasmic trip to Halo that Chief & Makee would want the real thing hehe. Why is Halsey so evil? How does she come back from that to become the 'postive' Halsey in the Halo series who despite kidnapping kids etc for the Spartan program really wants to help humanity? This Hasley is straight up a nasty piece of work, pure evil. Even Makee knows Halsey is evil and Makee herself hates humanity. Basically, the show Halsey is like the POLAR OPPOSITE of the one from the Halo franchise. Whilst that makes things interesting, it doesn't leave her much scope to progress the plot and the UNSC as the franchise would have had her do in its original form. I think mabye Halsey eventually switches allegiance back to the Chief and UNSC in season 2 but that would now feel contrived. Keeping too much with original lore can be boring, but it feels the scriptwriters just want to make a sci-fi show with their own ideas and slapped the Halo tag on it just to get a guaranteed viewing audience in the beginning. They should just call the show something else, this show is as one person mentioned "a show made by people who don't play Halo, made for people who don't like the original Halo franchise".
You can't. After this frost season the continuity drift will be so large the show would never be able to reconcile it with the Halo and characters we know. They have already ruined the convenat's scare factor and the Halo reveal. This show is mediocre trash.

They've spent the money wisely. The few "blemishes" are so small they don't really matter. Now the practical effects could use just a tad bit more effort. The Chevy Suburbans that keep popping in are unforgivable. 😂
I cannot reconcile this show to the amazing lore of the games. It is so far below the standard it is an effort in futility that it will get better. It won't. This is not how you tell a Halo story. This is mediocre sci-fi dribble. Something that Halo has never been.

So episode 8 of the show was interesting. They did the sex stuff at the beginning that I wasn't a fan of and felt they took too far, thankfully maybe it won't continue considering now she's been caught, however once that finished the rest of the episode was decent and action was great.
I love that this show shows the true power of the Spartans and just how strong and capable they are at being strong and tough especially Chief who takes a beating and is still fighting.
Be good finale! If the finale is good then I would happily be excited for next season. It would've come out as a decent season. Not great and not terrible. This show has had issues I acknowledge but I will defend it.🙏
Also get ready this means the Halo jump is coming in the finale!! We still haven't seen it yet!👀
I think the last episode will show the fall of reach and we will be at the beginning of halo 1 (outside the ring)

Love Kai now. She got some great character development this season - I just hope they're not setting us up for a tragic death.
This was a lot better than last week's episode. I think we all knew after that orgasmic trip to Halo that Chief & Makee would want the real thing hehe. Kai learned a valuable lesson...keep your helmet on. Maybe she teaches this to Chief lol. One more episode this season. Curious how they wrap this season up. Hopefully with very little Kwan 😅

Why is Halsey so evil? How does she come back from that to become the 'postive' Halsey in the Halo series who despite kidnapping kids etc for the Spartan program really wants to help humanity? This Hasley is straight up a nasty piece of work, pure evil. Even Makee knows Halsey is evil and Makee herself hates humanity. Basically, the show Halsey is like the POLAR OPPOSITE of the one from the Halo franchise. Whilst that makes things interesting, it doesn't leave her much scope to progress the plot and the UNSC as the franchise would have had her do in its original form. I think mabye Halsey eventually switches allegiance back to the Chief and UNSC in season 2 but that would now feel contrived. Keeping too much with original lore can be boring, but it feels the scriptwriters just want to make a sci-fi show with their own ideas and slapped the Halo tag on it just to get a guaranteed viewing audience in the beginning.
They should just call the show something else, this show is as one person mentioned "a show made by people who don't play Halo, made for people who don't like the original Halo franchise".

You can't. After this frost season the continuity drift will be so large the show would never be able to reconcile it with the Halo and characters we know. They have already ruined the convenat's scare factor and the Halo reveal.

They've spent the money wisely. The few "blemishes" are so small they don't really matter. Now the practical effects could use just a tad bit more effort. The Chevy Suburbans that keep popping in are unforgivable. 😂

I cannot reconcile this show to the amazing lore of the games. It is so far below the standard it is an effort in futility that it will get better. It won't. This is not how you tell a Halo story. This is mediocre sci-fi dribble. Something that Halo has never been.
Whas it just me or was this episode painfully slow. Felt like even the cast were delivering the lines as slow as humanly possible.
