having confidence is actually an insane tip. also another tip is to expect to die a lot and dont be scared of it. if you're scared of dying and losing items in an smp or something, that would make you play 10x worse.

one thing i learned from myself is pre toteming aka the thing you mentioned with anchoring while holding a hotbar totem to explode it and i can say its useful when your holding combos and worth to learn
Another thing you could do (With the anchors) Instead of holding a totem in your offhand when you destroy the anchor, try holding a crystal. That way, when they take upward kb from the anchor, you can spam crystals and get extra damage/pops from your opponent. It's called a "Rainbow anchor"

Always play with confidence no matter how good the opponent is is I like it
recently i started playing with confedence and i win a lot more fights then i used to sometimes now even win a 1v1 now i can win a 2v1
