The way you pronounced Söngvakeppnin is giving Lynda Woodruff's Aze-ben-jan-jen vibes ❤😂
Omg yes 😭
This was... unexpected. To put it mildly.
Man this is just Embers from 2021 listen to the chorus
looks like iceland wanted stay in semi😅
They were never doing anything even with Bashur lets all be adults here...
Serbia is out now too🥳 its not my cup of tea but i have a feeling it’ll be liked by certain people for sure
I like the song - Go Tiffany, I thought it is veru positive and ''legally blonde'', ''barbie vibes'' - very feninine, girl power, positive energy song and catchy and I'm a. man saying this
I like it, but because of semi-final 1 I think it's a NQ
Congrats to Hera and she won the national final performance and this is a party disco hit and it’s a booper and I really love the intro and also I’m doing Iceland next week and I’m sending my big hugs and this is my girl that won the final performance and it’s a nice good song Ballard from Geoff and this will do for my party in December on my birthday and maybe to see live for this year on tv in the summer time in may and came this month I might envite her one day some point this year in anytime so I’m interested of her song and country from Geoff
wtf…
Personally pissed Sigga Ozk, 1 didn't chose to sing in Icelandic and 2, didn't get selected for Iceland.
Its great to see her back
I feel you on the Demi Lovato comment 😂 personally i'm also getting Symphony by Clean Bandit from this.
as an Icelander I'm so disappointed with this entry, a lot of people are saying their votes didn't go through for Bashar and the writer of that song wants a re-vote which is completely fair
Another case of not being happy because the result didn’t go the way they wanted. Democracy eh
@@Cal2929 No it was an actual error, it's all over the news
@@icyspicy11Það mun aldrei vera kosið aftur. Það er bara fáránlegt. Þetta app var bara drasl og virkaði ekki en þetta hafði engin áhrif á niðurstöðunni
I mean, the best songs didn't even qualify to its final, so there weren't even proper choices (maybe Væb were only kinda fun). NQ unfortunatelly for Iceland this year. Good for them for not using political card tho
Well.. im not that mad. It was one of the best songs and Hera is a legend (Icelandic version is allot better though). And i wanted Sigga Ozk to win actually.
I think it’s a vibe
"Out of the embers" 🎶 but make it Icelandic
Iceland could have sent Tiffany but instead they chose non-qualification. At least I'll applaude this sacrifice if it means that Ireland will manage to scrape into the final
We don't know how the duel was determined. Maybe the international juries pushed Bashar in this and not the Icelanders.
@@Marios_GrThere was no international jury. It was all icelandic jury
Sorry Iceland, but truly, Semifinal 1 is the "death semi", very tough (though Semifinal 2 is also getting tougher by the day), and this just doesn't stand out in any way, so very likely NQ... Sigga or Anita would have been way better choices! Though that said, I'd still be upset if Iceland withdrew, please don't!
I’ve loved this song since the start - she neeeeds to sing in Icelandic!
It's kinda hilarious that the twi songs with the worst rating on Eurovisionworld got into the superfinal.
A definite NQ in my books. Sad about the confirmed sms voting error that they didn't correct.
Poor Noosh, probably had reaction to Bashar prerecorded waiting to be uploaded and had to take extra shift on this Saturday 😭
Love you!
I think Noosh said she wanted for Sigga Ozk to win. I like her reactions to the songs though. Cheers (or Meow) from Croatia 😻🤘
Lmao, I bet she did have that pre-recorded.
IM DYIIIN HAHAHAHA
had a similar reaction: after 2 min 30 I looked at my display because it was dragging on and on
I love Hera Je Ne Sais Quoi is top tier, but this song doesn't quite compare. I think Bashar was a very likely Q, but Hera is almost defs dead in the water in SF1. And thats coming from an Iceland apologist, theyre literally my highest rated country since 2009. Decent song but people will not be jumping out of their seats to vote for this over everything else in a televote only semi.
Bashar couldn't even beat Hera. 😂
@@jordywoody14 not wrong but Hera’s song wont stick out at all. Maybe saying Bashar is a likely Q is too much but let’s not pretend like Hera is taking it home lol.
@@jordywoody14 also it’s not just Icelandic people Hera has to get votes for its the entire EU and I think a country song that sticks out has a better chance qualifying vs one of the bottom girly pop songs
NQ
I agree with you.
My vote was for Sigga.
But Hera was convicing in this performance.
I Like it but I Think Iceland will be NQ .
I think iceland didnt want the political attention and choosed the most generic song in the competition with no risk at all bcz this is a definite NQ
Wait for them to confirm the participation first, because they have not.
Why wouldn't they confirm it?@@abrielrobertsson4160
@@abrielrobertsson4160 Heta Björk has confirmed SHE will go before the final... So if that was widely known this win was an act of conservatism both musically and politically.
You sound stupid, yes, all viewers thought about politics while voting in NF, lol
All other options were definite NQ as well.
@noosh101: I hope Hera overheard you saying that she still looks the same as she clearly lost loads of weight 😅
I think she means she doesn't look like she aged which is a win.
Semi finals just got easier for everyone else.
It reminds me to sorry not sorry by Demi Lovatp haha
Iceland can be really boring if they don't send Hatari or Daði Freyr, and we've seen it once again 🥱
Uk called and want embers back.
This song is so good but because of the sf1 its a NQ unf..
Here’s a summary of what happened:
So, if you didn’t know already, Bashar Murad, who sang “Wild West” is Palestinian. And mainly because of the situation in Gaza, he was the huge favourite to win Söngvakeppnin, I believe he had 49% winning chance in the odds. Hera Björk was second in the odds but with a way lower percentage than Bashar. The superfinal consisted of those two acts. However, apparently, Yogez Segal, an Israeli group manager purposely encouraged Icelanders to vote for Hera instead of Bashar, because of something along the lines of “it would ruin the relationship between Iceland and Israel”. So I believe that definitely contributed to Hera’s win. Unfortunately Sigga was kinda out of the picture. 😭😭
Here is the missing part of the story: Before the superfinal Bashar was leading with over 15K votes ( 47.6K vs Hera's 32K) but in the superfinal Hera won by 3K. There have been reports sms votes not going through due to a technical error that has been confirmed (not just rumored) so most of the votes tallied were call-in votes and the call-in demographic skew Hera. The broadcaster decided not to do a recount however because they are trying to say the sms votes wouldn't have mattered or if they recount it will definitely go to Bashar because there will be bias against Hera, so at this point they are just trying to cover their butts.
@@HZ-fg9sf Thanks for explaining :)
People are sleeping on her. With good staging it could qualify because it’s a banger
You = delulu
This will defenently not qualify, not even with the best staging, because the song is way to boring.
@@evaldk1574 Bet you said the same about Gustaph last year
I'm sorry but you're insane xD.
@@jordywoody14 I share the same opinion and no, I did not. Dated and fun is fine. Dated and underwhelming is not. The majority won't care about this.
@@evaldk1574let me guess, you think Bashar's middle-of-a-country-album filler is the best, most unique song ever, right?
The Icelandic televoting proved that the people react when the political games are so in their face.
Thank God. No need for politics in Eurovision.
@@jordywoody14 not choosing him might just as much be a political decision, I'd actually bet on it. It obviously depends on why people voted how they did. But imo it's unrealistic to think anything that went down today was apolitical, there was never a chance after people started complaining about his participation and MAKING it political. We might've seen a completely different results if all the participants had been anonymous (just a thought experiment and not feasible in real life). Not saying Bashar would've won, maybe he wouldn't even have made the super final, but I'm sure there would've been a difference in outcome.
@@emdove Probably the voting to Hera was a vote against Bashar, so it was also political, but it was RUV that began all that political game, using a tragic issue that Iceland is completely irrelevant to.
@@Marios_Gr First of all, weren't the Icelandic candidates chosen before the issue became a current topic and "relevant" to the average European? And secondly, I don't think anybody should be irrelevant to this issue. Also, even if Bashar applied after the fact (and along with the other participants, do no special treatment), would you say they should've rejected him because of his origins? I think that's more problematic.
As you can tell, I'm unsure when he was chosen. Do we know?
boo
It's very mid but I'm just happy Bashar didn't win tbh if only to prevent another politically dominated eurovision
"Some Eurovision observers have speculated that Icelandic voters did not want to face similar issues with political disqualification, or that some may have been turned off by his dedication of the song to the Palestinians rather than to Iceland, the country he was supposed to represent. Murad’s connection to Iceland was born out of the 2019 Eurovision in Tel Aviv, when he met the country’s representative, the band Hatari, and recorded a joint Icelandic-Arabic song with them. Iceland’s national broadcaster was reprimanded and fined after the band members waved a Palestinian flag during the live grand finale."
Accroding to "The Times of Israel"...
According to the Times of Israel... Actually they had issues with processing the sms votes and only counted the telephone votes so you can understand the demographic that encompasses. They just didn't bother recounting the votes and the broadcaster is trying to cover their asses by saying it wouldn't have made a difference. But look at the final votes prior to the superfinal to see the full pictures of what went down of anyone wants to do some actual investigating.
@@HZ-fg9sf
I did read the entire article and do my research...as well as a Eurovision Song Contest fan from America can do.
In Söngvakeppnin, having the higher score before the 2 song face-off and still not winning is not a rare occurrence...slightly less common, but not as extremely suspicious as some would be led to believe
Despite the article being written by an Israeli news outlet, they have not been biased that I have seen so far...only informative of what has been going on regarding this issue
😢🥱😮💨😓
This is a sure NQ
Quite pleasant but not special enough.
Oh, it's s definite non-qualified
One of the weakest songs of ESC 2024
That song is boring AF
