Haha yes, looks like the gasket alright! Big ups for that effort bro, I’ve never done anything that intense let alone roadside so good on you. Very little could ever stop you I think, every repair results in more and more confidence. The epitome of a ‘Land Rover man’
So good to see that between Vance and Nigel you're becoming a bush mechanic. That's the beauty of these old rigs, a little bit of common sense, some tools and some basic knowledge and they can be fixed. Keep up the great travel stories. Show the world how good this great country is.
Too bad Nige died in the arse like that, but top marks to Glenn for the roadside repair! Great thing about Landys is being able to bust out the spanners and do a repair like that in situ and then carry on. Thanks for showing us the beauty of Tassie these last few months and happy trails to you.
Really enjoyed that video... Easier repair if you can take off the bonnet.... Its desgned to easily come off...this way you can stand with a leg either side Of the motor to lower the head onto the gasket.....you may have done that. You can also take the sump off without removing the motor.. Some 4wds you have to first remove the motor...
Great video, I love how you both put in the honest truth on your travels. We were in Tassie 1 week ago and we are missing it terribly, although I received a notification that the weather this week was going to be icy, snowy and rainy and that makes me glad I'm in Queensland😂 - however thinking we would come home to some warmth we've been met with wind and much lower temps!
We all have different lifestyles, on and off, if we are lucky. Im so glad to have chosen Australia as my most adventurous life style event - about 6 times, 3 months each time. Unforgettable. But have to be reminded - on youtube
Great work on the head gasket. Beauty of these older rigs is the you can do that on the road side. newer engines the dang head warps and ya need to get it machined. Plus the confidence boost hey, once you've opened the motor there's nothing that scary left... That's the curse of three passed anyway all uphill now. Fridge-battery-gasket. Apart from inconvenience all three worked out fairly well. Enjoy your last weeks in Tas. Wonder where y'all heading next
ive owned a discovery II once before. i liked everything, except for the engine. that engine was such a nightmare and gave so much trouble. if i ever got another one again, i would either put a cummins, duramax or an LS into it
Hi guys I love watching your videos, in your last video you said you were travelling south, you were in Burnie and then travelled to Tullah that is West, you also did the same in a previous video… I don’t want you to think I’m being picky but I live here and know where you are but if someone not from here may get confused, if wanting to visit. Anyhow keep up the good work and I hope you have sorted out Nigel’s problems 😊.
Bad luck, but great job repairing the head gasket on side of road. Did you have spare as you had idea these often go on LR? Great to see you enjoying beautiful travels again though.

Well done Glen, do you think it was caused by overheating issues 👍
