More sadness for Tom as his father passed away this year. He lives in his childhood home in Oakdale cared for by his mother and brother. A few ragtime enthusiasts have been able to visit him occasionally, including another youth ragtime phenom, Max Libertor.

Aw man that’s so rough! Tom is definitely in our thoughts here. Love to hear people visit him and hope he is in good spirits. We hope everyone out there has a good holiday!

1:37 "At age 6, I couldn't even pick my ...". Glad he didn't say nose. That would be a sad six year old.

He does from what I see. Had a few comments so far know who he is so that’s great to see his music still lives on

ive been listening to Tom Brier music on spotify for years and have even learned a couple tracks. He is my favorite pianist and I always find my way back to listening to him.

Tom Brier has been my number one inspiration for learning piano. His story is one of the saddest ive ever heard

Pretty good research! His first album was Rising Star and his last album to be published was Live in Concert, tho. Thank you for the video!

The thing that most impressed me with Tom Brier's playing, was watching him play Maple Leaf Rag - in every possible key!! With no preparation!! That is not the easiest piece to transpose...

I’m always mesmerized by his hand work. As a former musician myself it’s insane to think how he’s not only sight reading but adding to them

@@TheLorelock1Some of the best were ones that were only one or two strains, so he just made up entirely original new strains off the top of his head to fill them out into full-length rags, e.g. Minato Mura from One Piece, and Last Rag from Devil May Cry.
