@@StockholmWalks yes, exactly...to you (the northern countries), to us a normal summer is around 33 to 35 degrees!!! Enjoy the rest of a nice Stockholm sunday. ⚓
I just love these suburbs south of Södermalm. There's just kind of a good lonely feel to these suburbs. P.S. I feel the world has always been chaotic, but it seems to have gotten a lot worse after 2016. Tack så mycket for your beautiful walks/videos. 💙💛
@@StockholmWalks Well, we often joke that our public transport is still on the level of Austro-Hungarian empire, which we were once part of.A bit of exaggeration, but still. The city discontinued the tram many decades ago, a big mistake. We don't have subway, my biggest wish, not only for the efficency but also as the opportunity for some interesting architecture. If you judge our commuter trains by their speed, well, snails must be their relatives.City is often full of cars and buses, so it's better to walk or bike, but to visit the suburbs in a decent time, you just take the car.The least ecological option though
@@franbric5640 in Stockholm it’s usually a mistake to take the car within the city- it takes forever to find parking. But bike (or the loved and hated electric scooters are faster than bus. Yes, subways, once it’s there, are efficient, but seems quite a hassle to build underground
@@StockholmWalks Yes, parking is the biggest problem. The majority of those who come to work in the city from suburbs and nearby cities commute by the car, since the trains and buses are very slow.Even quite some students, especially those who have wealthy parents, come by car.To be fair to the city government, a lot has been done in this regard in the last two decades.Underground garage houses and park&ride sistem, where you leave your car at the edge of the city and take a bus, all this helps. The city center with old town is completely closed for cars, only taxies and buses are allowed, with which I fully agree.Maybe we'll someday have tram back, but the discussions always end with the money. For the same reason we'll never have subway and those beautiful underground stations like in Stockholm and other cities. We also have scooters, and yes, love and hate goes hand in hand
Another Wonderful Video SW...... I Like that there are no Large Tower Blocks, just 4 or 5 story Buildings... They seem more Homely with nice areas of of nature inbetween..... Never say hi or smile at strangers, people will think you’re a psycho. With exceptions: always say hi if you meet someone on a trail, maybe you can get away with a smile meeting in a staircase and always wave if you’re in a boat meeting another boat

@@StockholmWalks I started looking and thought "wait a minute, wasn't Borås on his bag?" So I had to watch it from the beginning and pause to see if it said that. You should come here sometime in the spring or summer and film a bit, there is a lot to see in the city, for example a lot of murals all over the place and cool statues. The whole town is like a big art gallery.
Agreed, a good example of a lifestyle many people would call "boring" (where's all the excitement, the big city "hustle and bustle" as they say?). But somehow, I feel being Swedish, living in Sweden, is all about being boring, not being in a hurry, being laid back, enjoying the tranquility, and enjoying the peacefulness of nature. At least that's how I would feel. Thanks, James
Oh, I’m sorry to disappoint you. In Stockholm and suburbs locals are usually constantly in a hurry and consider themselves stressed. You have to be at least an hour away before people slow their steps down
När jag var något yngre än jag är idag brukade jag alltid sjunga på Magnus Uggla-låten Staffans matematik när jag var i de här krokarna. En typisk tunnelbaneförort är det.
I can't believe how much of the area have changed in 13 years since I live there 😲 Anyone know if some still wash their clothes in the fountain? Or if a very chatty Finn is still alive?
Beautiful mix of nature and housing, something we fail to achieve in UK cities. I love the aesthetic of Sweden. I'm sad the country is being swamped with migrants that will over time erode the established ideal of what Sweden was originally intended to portray to the rest of the world. To me it has an almost Zen quality that I sincerely hope continues. Need to see flowing water in those fountains 🙏
A hundred years ago 1/5 of Sweden’s population emigrated to seek a better life elsewhere. I’m very grateful we’re now a country people want to come to, and that we have the privilege to be enriched by new Swedes from all over the world.
@@StockholmWalks I realise my comment wasn't very "politically correct" but my intention was to portray that outside of Sweden we admire Sweden as it was in the 60s & 70s, design, architecture, lifestyle, family and an appreciation of nature. My point being, I hope this continues to be something that radiates from Sweden as so many of our Western countries have lost this now.
@@StockholmWalks Exactly, my great-great grandfather Nels & his future wife both emigrated to the U.S. in the late 1800's to find a better life.
