- Here are two 1921 Peace dollars. One is real and one is a counterfeit. There are many factors in spotting a fake. Looking at the strike, luster, details and surface quality are ways to determine the authenticity of a coin. But the 3rd side of the coin, can sometimes be the most important. Thanks for watching. Great video. I just hate to see a Fat Peace because I already know it’s fake. People come by and ask for me to give a value on their silver dollars. When I see the Fatty coins, I have to tell them that they are fake.
Lots of good information. Thank you again. 😄
Thanks.
Thanks for the video
The Peace dollar was first struck on December 28, 1921 with 4 days left until 1922. If they minted them for a month that means they were striking 1921's in 1922. The shortage or rarity of 1921 is due to striking only four days before the end of the year.
That’s scary! Thanks for the share!
Thanks for watching.
Dropping educational bars then as today 😊
More people need to report counterfeit money to FBI.
Very educational. Nice video
Thanks.
Thank you!
Great video! Same question as few others. Was the metal correct?
Not Silver.
it is hard to detect by looking at the surface. You are right about the thickness between two coins as a big giveaway. I can spot the difference immediately as both coin were turned side way showing their thickness. Did you check the reading on the counterfeit coin with the versifier? Just curious about its resistance that could be use to predict the potential metal composition. Thanks for sharing your findings.
Great info
Thanks.
Great video 🖒
Thanks.
Lady Liberty on the peace dollar looks uncannily like my Mom at @ age 27. I knew IMMEDIATELY which one was counterfeit…lol
It was ok.. but could you spot something on the coin just by looking at pictures on Ebay. Wonder if you could spot a fake, just by looking at a coin.
I spotted it right away, that one on the right looked way too thick.
Pls answer. Is it still real if its 1922
What happens with a magnet or precious metal verifier test?
This one was not magnetic - but is not silver.
@@TheCoinGeek I have a Sigma PRO precious metal verifier so as not to get scammed. It paid for its self straight away. 2 x NGC counterfeit double eagles refunded.
The hair on the fake looks wrong also thanks for the video
Thanks.
is it still silver or some other metal?
Not silver .
Look at the mouth on the counterfeit: it is gaping open too much for the level of wear on the rest of the obverse.
Yes, there are a lot of discrepancies that you may not notice at first glance. And yet a ''glance'' is what makes you wonder if it is real.
damn Chinese and their fakes
That rev is bad
