On a new mill today the probing package is $5800 and that comes with Spindle Orientation, User-Definable Macros, Coordinate Rotation and Scaling, and Visual Part Programming System which those four options ordered ala-carte are over $6000 list price by themselves. The probing option is a bargain for how much productivity gain it gives you. Getting the probe stylus and tool setter pad dialed in can be frustrating but absolutely worth it. We use the CMM sized stylus with our OMP-40's at the shop, the finer tip size is great for detail work picking up holes and such that the regular sized stylus would not fit into.
Unfortunately on these older controls you can not buy probing as a package, there is no such thing as visual programming on the old crt style controls and if you want rot & scaling, m19 and macros you have to buy them all separately so it’s nowhere near as simple as the new machines
Fantastic video, Marc! The connector at 25:00 is a Molex KK connector. I have a VF-0E that I picked up last year and that I am now putting a OMP40-2 and TS27R in. So far I have tested them on the bench and they seem to work. Is your skip signal going directly into the HAAS, so 24 V (ignoring the M22 as that won't change the signal voltage)?
Hi the M22 is connected to my little relay set up which in turn is connected to the optical receiver for the workpiece probe and to the renishaw m18 board for the ts27r, So i think if i remember right the ts27r is the one thats always active but when the omi receives signal that switches power to relays causing the skip signal to switch to the omi
Great Video! I bought a 98 VF4 recently that came with a Renishaw OMP40 probe system that im trying to get working. It appears that none of the renishaw programs are in the memory as yours are. How do I go about getting those so that I can start using the probe setup?
As and when i come across instances that would really benefit from an in process probing cycle i will be looking into it for sure, Fusion 360 has in process probing but the machining extension package is £1250 a year and i cant warrant it just yet but i think the time will come eventually..........I HOPE Marc
Any chance of linking us up yo the ex renishaw engineer? I have a laser tool measurment system and a omp40 that are refusing to talk to the reniahaw box in the electrical cab.
@@kinzy_fabrications cheers again! I sent this message last night and then inboxed you today haha they replied no stock at the moment but ill check again in a bit

Thanks Marc ....well done mate
Thanks Jason
Fair #ucking play to you...far beyond my days starting in 77 on a .200" leadscrew Bridgeport.
Gotta start somewhere
Thanks for the encouragement
Your welcome

Hi
Thanks, if you email me i can see what i can help with
Thanks

Hello Marc,
The video is very very helpful. Will you share the probing and tool setter programs you used?
Hi
Email me at info@kinzyfabrications.co.uk
@@kinzy_fabrications need this too..
Productivity+ should be the baby for creating probing operations without a next gen controller from what i can glean.

Omp 60 is actually a strain gauge (laser activated if i recall) more accurate and better
Thanks , that’s something I did not know? I’m interested to know more about that so may ask renishaw
Thanks
Marc

If your in the UK you can email me at info@kinzyfabrications.co.uk and i can pass on the contact details
You don’t have a spare 4th axis to suit my vf0 do you lol everything is 110v where I need 240v. Want to add 4th axis and touch probe to my machine 😥
Hi Joe afraid not but as mentioned in the message you should be ok with that machine dealer

pm'd you on facebook about swapping my omp40-2 for your omp60
