I cant thank you enough for this video I found 2 renishaw probes at the local flea market paid 5 bucks for a tp1 and tp2 5w with the ph6 the 3 extensions sizes and the..... (cant think of what its called) the thing that allows me to the tp2. Talk about a stee!!!l I know right!!! The guy asked how much they normally are after I bought them and I said somewhere close to 4k. Anyway I have a masso touch that i want to use it on i already burnt out the led of the tp1 on accident so dont know if that effects the basic function but according to the pin out 4 and 5 are the probe inputs and 1 and 3 are led. So thank you again for this video now I can make it work like it suppose to.
Quality and reliability, accuracy and repeatability, service and support, those are the three things you must get right to succeed in the machine tool industry in my opinion. If you can do that and be cost competitive then your really going to make it.
Just a suggestion you may want to add a audible sound like a beeper when the probe triggers. I have run machines with both no sound and with a sound when the probe triggers. It is always more comforting to hear the probe trigger for some reason. Or better yet put a switch to select sound or no sound.
Thanks Peter, I was thinking the exact same thing! I have an extra output left on my brick that I could drive a small tone generator with. Could mount it on the bottom of the pendent somewhere.
Great job Tim! Super clean install(knew it would be=). You may already know, but if I remember right you were talking about possibly starting to use a new editing software awhile back.... so I'm not sure if that's the cause or not but you definitely had me working the volume knob throughout this vid. The music sequences were pretty loud, no biggie just wanted to let you know. Thanks for another awesome iteration of the probe series. Thanks Steve, always welcome the feedback. Yes, I used some new music tracks this go around and I think they where a little hotter then some of the others. I'm also still playing with the new mic and audio recorder. Last video I had the mic gain to high and it was over driving the audio recorder. This time I had the gain a little low so I needed to bump the voice tracks. I will get it dialed in at some point. I have been crazy stupid busy lately with my day job, making customer parts, and all kinds of family summer activities. So yes, intro outro is on the list, just not very high on it.
Yes, but then silence is kind of awkward. I can't really use the video audio track. So then I need to do a voice over and I already talk to much. Very hard finding that balance for sure. I give true film people a lot of credit, this crap is hard!

I'm getting my first VMC, a 2011 Sharp SV-2412 with a 0i-MD Fanuc control (all new to me). I'd love to add a tool setter and probe but there's not much info out there as far as I can tell. Thanks!
At-Man Unlimited Machining I'm a bit obsessed with trying to converted a regular box fan motor into a generator, do you think its possible or should I just make my own turbine from scratch?
Fan motors are normally small shade pole induction motors. You can use an induction motor as a generator but you need to power it and run it as a motor first so the squirrel cage gets magnetized, then you can put mechanical power into it and get electrical power out.

Not necessarily probe related but im wondering how the white 120v terminals to the right side open? pull a wire out and never get it back in. i suspect a special tool is needed or technique i cannot figure out. any idea? i have the style to the right of your terminal board and also the newer style that are pyramid shaped between my three machines. btw if i try and stick a screwdriver in like you did to the upper terminals it just closes it tighter. mine are slightly different.
Tim; I am in trouble here... Ok, I have Fadal 2040 AC 2001 vintage. And brand spanking new OMI-2T which has interface in it. OMP 60 Probe, and OTS 1/2AA The trigger pins are the same on J12 Molex. Looks like I can pull 12V of P.S. as this unit is good for 10 to 30 volts. 14 wires out of the OTS, 3 for trigger, Power + and ground, and Shield to ground. That leaves the 8 wires, they are Probe status 1, Probe status 2, Low Battery and Error. Can you tell me where to park those? Our machines are largely similar... but your home cooked circutry is custom, and I am scared to trial and error here. Thanks for the great video's! Mark

I missed a couple of great deals on the Renishaw probes although I have a new TS27. Good deals don't come around very often and I ended up buying a Dewtronics Wireless that works pretty good and is priced very reasonable. Anyways, miss the videos.
My diy probe has flash light indication on its body but sound alerting is important。 Unfortunately, the I/O on my machine runs out ( Mach3)。 I render to write program line to “beep” the desktop computer speaker to sound instead !。。。 Still wait to see if work。。。
There is a light on the probe but not the tool setter, and it is hard to see with the bright work lights I use for filming. The nice thing about the custom solution I used is I can just add more IO if I need it.
Advicing the manufacturer of the tool height & diameter setter makes improvement to add LED indication。 Its not a bad thing at least and it doesn't like the cheap tool height setter。

The touch probe has a light, the tool setter does not. But you can easily add a light and or beep using the Renishaw hardware.

I don't think a light on it is that important. In many machines the thing is so covered in coolant and chips you would not see it anyway.
