    My gratitude to Clifton Camera's and Jeff Carter for this video. I always thought that my XT2 and xH1 were not designed for action photography and seriously considered going back to a full frame SLR until I saw this video and picked up some priceless advice from Jeff. Armed with this knowledge, I went and shot my first MotoGP in Sepang Malaysia and came away with some amazing pro level pictures - which I personally think were better than cycle worlds 😁 - all because of the tips I learnt from this video. Thanks for sharing your experience Jeff.

    Absolutely in love with the Fujifilm x series as they're small and has an ergonomic design as a film camera enthusiast myself I'll have to say that Fujifilm has perfected the formula for recreating the film effect on a digital camera

    Many thanks, true Masterclass. Comprehensive approach for Sport photography, full of priceless advice.
    2 XT4, monopod, some Fuji lenses as well and considering adding the new 150-600, less fast but more versatile (and affordable) than the 200mm f2.0.
    Greetings from Geneva 🇨🇭

      Thank you for the comment, I am now shooting with the X-H2S / X-H2. They are a big step forward from the X-T4 in terms of performance for shooting sport. There is nothing wrong with the T4 but the AF and the CFX card makes things so much better with the new pro cameras from Fujifilm.

    Thank you Jeff, great class. I was checking as an X-T1 came out for sale looking like new in the Pentax forum (yes, you aren't the only one pre-focusing here or shooting with "not so good AF machinery) and wanted to see if this will be good for my motorsports photography. A part from every camera being good to take pictures at, I see maybe this is not bringing me any better features than what I already have so then I will pass (maybe for a holidays camera it is nice thought). Very nice video Fiona, thanks.

    Hello! Very impressed! Wondering how it would be a hands on workshop!!! Went back and fourth throughout the presentation with pencil and paper taking notes. I've search extensively all the content that I could get my hands on. I guess its the way we browse, as literally searched quite in-depth for the last 8 months. Got more interested in photography (sports) during lockdown as I took it in a way of getting "something positive" out of this most unfortunate, to say the least, disgraceful 2020. This video is a wealth of knowledge, trust me... I've searched!
    Looking forward for future developments - subscribed, of course, and following MacLean IG since last March\April. Thank You again for the insightful video. (XT3 18-55 kit lens, 50-140, 100-400 and all the lens stated are on my wish list... the 90mm very soon to be purchase (Thank You Jeff))

    How would you compare the 90 f2 and the 50-140 ? Of course the latter got the 50-90 range. But for the 90-150 range, doesn't the 90mm partly compensate because one can crop more since we shoot at lower iso, and the quality of the shots will be slightly better since it is a prime ? Plus you got a bit more bokeh with f2 than you do with f2.8, so with shooting at 90mm f2 and croping, don't we get at least like a 125 f 2.8 equivalent in terms of quality and Bokeh ?

    Is the Fuji 100-400 lens as good as you say? I’ve heard it’s a little soft. Thanks.

    • @MacLeanComms
      @MacLeanComms 4 роки тому +3

      Scott, I have seen the same comments at times and I have been astounded by them. I can only suggest they had a bad copy or it was user error (ie using a slower shutter speed than required or that the AF missed the focus for some reason) I have had two 100-400mm (1 pre production and 1 production versions) and both were sharp as a tack, even with the aperture wide open.
      I have an album of 272 sample images taken on the 100-400mm for sport, landscapes and wildlife, including some of the shots that were used in the video - www.flickr.com/photos/macleancomms/albums/72157663555003782
      I will let you make your own mind up if the lens is as good as I said in the video 😎👍

      Hi Luis, with the newer WP235 batteries I only carry two spares (three in each camera) and have never used the second spare. With the older batteries in the X-T3 and before I always carried at least six spares when out working. The WP235 battery is so much better.

    I use an XT-4. I experience very noticeable “viewfinder lag” when shooting bursts and trying to follow pan with a car.

    • @MacLeanComms
      @MacLeanComms 4 роки тому +5

      Scott, you shouldn’t have viewfinder lag on an XT4. Make sure you are shooting in boost mode either in camera or the battery grip. Make sure the EVF/LCD boost setting is set to EVF Frame Rate Priority. Also make sure you are using the latest and fastest UHSII SD Cards. I use the Toshiba Exceria Pro 260mb cards or the Lexar 1667x or 2000x cards. If you are shooting with older UHS I cards swap them out, it’s like using supermarket unleaded in a Ferrari. It will work but you won’t get the best performance from the car. Hope this helps

    Hello bro.. What is the difference between fuji 18-55mm kit lens(comes with camera) and 18-55mm lens the one we buy separately with box? Is there any difference??

    • @MacLeanComms
      @MacLeanComms 4 роки тому +1

      Sajeev, there is no difference, they are the same lens. If you buy the XF18-55mm f2.8/4 with the camera it works out a lot cheaper than buying the body and lens separately.

    Do you use film simulations ?

    • @MacLeanComms
      @MacLeanComms Рік тому

      Yes, I shoot RAW to one card and JPEG to the other, with is set to Provia as the film simulation. If I need an image quickly I use the JPEG, tweak it slightly and send it. If I have more time I use the RAWs, but still tend to use Provia in Lightroom as a preset.

  • @carlantaki3250

    Thank you for the interesting content Jeff! That was very informative. Fuji is missing the XH-2 as well as longer lenses such as a 200-400 F4 lens or a 500/600 F4. Did you talk to them about having longer primer lenses? Since the XH-1 was introduced Fuji neglected that series of cameras and instead concentrated on the XT line which have worse ergonomics. How can Fuji expect sports/wildlife photographer to use Fuji if they don't have those longer lenses and robust bodies.

    • @jakesdewet3567
      @jakesdewet3567 3 роки тому +2

      I agree on some of your points. Most sport and wildlife photographers shoot AF-C and BBF settings all the time. The AF-ON button on the XT4 is in an almost useless place and I re programmed it to the AEL button to make it more functional. The XH1 ergonomics is indeed a great improvement, but I also enjoy the XT4. As a wildlife photographer I cope with the 100-400 and have used the 200f2 with the TC1.4. For most wildlife here in Africa these two lenses can cope. However a lens such as a 300 f2.8 that works well with a 1.4 and 2.0 TC would be fantastic alternative a 200-500 f4.5 0r 200-600 f5.6 would be fantastic. None of the big 3 brands have anything competitive in the APS-C space in Mirrorless There is a big gap and Fuji can fill that and even dominate. M43 tech is fantastic but still suffer from an old sensor and lagging focus. So lets trust Fuji will give us a XH2 with faster focus tracking and slightly more pixels and a great wildlife/sport soom or longer prime.
