I used to dread foam rolling due to muscle soreness, because I thought if it didn't hurt it wouldn't benefit me. But your suggestion of light foam rolling has become my routine now. 5 min of light rolling before and after running, everytime.
Thanks for the informative video. I’ve just discovered your channel and making my way through all of your videos since 10+ years ago. I appreciate all your great tips and insight!
How do you counter the sleepiness after a long run? I’ve noticed coffee doesn’t help. I’ve been running for 9 years and tend to be groggy after any distance beyond 3 miles and my team and I train anywhere from 3 up to full marathon distance depending on upcoming events. I am always groggy/sleepy afterwards even after a nap and regardless of what I eat (protein shake, meat, fruit, coffee, water, Gatorade, etc).
@@joshuahollar98805mo ago but anyway - Feeling 'tired' is your body saying you need to recharge aka sleep. In daytime it's an emergency. My understanding is your heart (which is a muscle) needs sleep to repair. So trying to fight through this feeling after any kind of workout running or gym, cycling or swimming... is risky. Give your body what it needs, when it needs it. Caffeine is modern society deluding itself it can trick nature. We're addicted.
Thanks a lot. I train three times a week and mix it with short recovery runs. I am so fatigued that too lazy to do even simple foam rolling. Prolonged sleep usually helps. It's so unusual because it's just about ten miles run on the plane in the forest. The pace is pretty moderate about 7-8 minutes a mile. It seems like the first month after the one month break is the most challenging. There's no way I can explain it.
I don't know if that is your case, but I find that if I only run at a slow pace my legs feel much tired. Maybe you can try to run faster the last mile and see what happens. I would also start with shorter runs after a one month break.
Thanks Coach! This has been on the forefront of my mind. I’m new to endurance training and I’m wrapping up the end of a few weeks of down time, so that I can ramp back up for a fresh training block. I’m feeling lazy, but also hoping it’s best for me in the long run. This makes me feel like I’m on track!
my muscular system just got betrayed by my cardiovascular system... the last two days I did basic endurance runs. almost a mile-pace minute faster than usual. just because my heart rate indicated I could go faster, to get into the accurate basic endurance heart rate zone. today my legs feel heavy as if I did hard intervals or tempo runs...

Interesting content but PLEASE increase the volume of your voice! Sound is so low on all your latest videos. Thanks coach
Interesting I didn’t have this problem.

Great channel and great timing as I’m struggling from my new training load
Me too :/
Inspirational, but honest, and based on facts not feelings.

3 miles? Late reply but I certainly hope you’ve had a blood test.
Great topic since I did my first 20 mile training run for my marathon Saturday.😅

@@cesardiezv totally you might actually just want to incorporate one anaerobic day instead of aerobic to get that speed in.
Great tips!

Thank you for the valuable information!!
The first 13 miles of my first marathon was all downhill. I could barely move the next day!

What Diet do you have going?
It can be hard to get your HR up when you're fatigued. Walk instead of run for a few days and you'll be back on track.
@@richardmiddleton7770 what?? I find the worse I feel the easier it is to get my BPM higher at a slower pace.
What about regular swimming?
Can you enlighten me on the difference between muscle at metabolic fatigue?
Can I use easy 5k runs in order to get recovery for my legs? Or will that just stress them more?
Goodness great about this
Always very good content. Adjust your recording volume. It's been very low.
Really? It’s perfect for me
@@gorytv9847 Idk.. cellphone with and without ear buds and my TV, I always have to set the volume on max.
Ahhh! Great video!!
Wish I felt more pain after a workout to be honest, I do a full body 2 hour workout every lift to failure and only feel a very slight pain.
THANK YOU!!!!!
