I’m a sophomore in highschool my dream colleges are Ithaca and pace Im being classically trained but I want to do musical theatre! Your videos help so much ❤️
I'm glad to hear that they're helpful! I started musical theatre at about the time you're starting! Something I would suggest if you haven't already done this is to start dancing and get as much practice as you can performing in front of others. You should also start practicing more musical theatre rep so you can get better/more comfortable singing in the style (and if you're a mixer and not a belter then I would learn power belting and not try to hurt your voice). You can also show off your classical training in your auditions with a beautiful legit song! Pace and Ithaca are both incredible schools, so aim high and work hard to reach that goal but don't beat yourself up if you don't end up getting into those schools. Because even very talented people don't get in since only a small number of people are accepted each year. So, don't judge your talent based on whether or not you get into the top mt programs. That said, it's definitely possible for you to get in with hard work and dedication! I would also recommend you practice a monologue or two every few months so you can improve on your acting! And with the time you probably have at home right now, I would take the time to practice singing, acting, and dancing. Hope this helps! Best of luck!
Madison Halla Thank you so much I’m in dance lessons right now and I’m working on expanding my musical theatre rep and working on my monologue practice

I have another question, I was watching a videos on tips and they told us not to flip in the song. But I know in a song that I’ve gotten I flip so I was wondering is that a bad thing ?
I think it really depends, you don't want to flip on the vowel in the middle of a word, unless you've added that for stylistic reasons. I would say sometimes flipping in a song is ok if you're going from chest voice to mix or mix to head but going from chest to head, especially in the middle of a phrase or measure isn't always the best idea. However, the notes in some songs cover both your head and chest registers so if you sing in both your head voice and chest voice at different parts of the song that isn't a bad thing, it just becomes a bad thing when you can tell someone is making a clear flip in the middle of a phrase/sentence.
Thank you! A collab would be fun! I'm about to be very busy with school so I can't give you a 100% yes or no. Did you have anything you wanted to collab on?
@@MadisonHalla oh awesome! what're you studying?? could be fun to collab on a technique and then do a scene as an example? for ex. a specific accent, or breaking down shakespeare? I'm totally open to any ideas you have as well :)
@@TheMartialActor why don't you reach out to me through instagram @madison_halla. And I'm going to start my first year studying musical theatre at NYU Stainhardt!
