I used to own the 42.5, and it was absolutely my favorite MFT lens, even if I didn't use it very often. The way it rendered images was just something special.
Zuiko 12-40mm best choice for me. Sharp, sealed, MF clutch and nice metal built quality. I also own the 40-150 2.8. But I only use it rarely due to its size. 12-32 Lumix, 17mm 1.8 zuiko, 45mm for my gx800. Plus the 75mm 1.8 for most pleasing people photography.
Love that 20mm 1.7. Was the first prime i started with, way back when i got my first mirrorless, the Oly EP-1. Use it today and it has worked well on the GX85 and lives on my main camera, the EM-5 mkiii. Got the 25mm 1.7 and the 14mm 2.5 but i always default to the 20mm; just works for me. Great video; thankyou!
An inexpensive lens, slightly wider than the 20mm is the m.zuiko 17mm f/2.8, pancake lens. Reliable autofocus, nice images, especially for out-of-camera jpegs.
Love this! I like my 25mm f1.7 and 14mm f2.5 for now but I'm trying to get my hands on Leica 15mm soons. Luckily, I can buy from Japan for $100 to $180 less.
Great list I would like to share 4 more lenses. The combination of the Leica 8-18 and the Leica 25 mm 1.4 II is the best combo for city trips! If you have the money and can carry the weight, the combo of the Leica 10-25 f 1.7 and the 25-50 1.7 is the best you can have. Although the heaviness of the two means that the light feel of the mft system is lost. But I had both of them with me on a road trip and I didn't need anything else.
Nice group of lenses. My go-to is the Lumix 12-60 on my Olympus EM5 iii. The little 1.8 Olympus primes are great too - the 17mm is wider than your 20mm pancake and has the MF clutch as well.
Another great video..I have paired down my M43 gear....mainly for a leaner...meaner "travel/street" kit... 2 ea gx9 bodies. (One is a backup spare) 1 olympus e-p3 body (cool lookin classic) 1 panasonic 14/2.5 pancake lens (Stays glued to the e-p3) Panasonic leica 9mm f1.7 Panasonic leica 15.. f1.7 Olympus 60/2.8 macro Olympus 40-150/2.8 pro with mc14 tx Olympus bcl0980 body cap fisheye 3 speed lights...2 led lights Cheers
Any thoughts on the 9 mm f 1.7? I think its a nice wide angle lens that can be quite useful when wanting to capture murals in a tight alleyways. Would you perhaps consider it for your street photography in the future??
I have a question, do you think that the price difference between the G85 and the G9 is worth it. I’m thinking on getting my first camera for photography, mainly for taking pictures of my family dogs and some landscape, and the G85 and G9 are my top choices, and also is the 12-60 variable aperture any good or should get the 12-60 Leica with getting instead? Thank you for your help 🙏 As always, great video! 👍🏻
Thank You - The G85 is a fantastic camera … However if you can, save up for the G9 - You’ll get more value from it :) and yes if you can try 12 to 60 Leica is the way to go … That combo can do pretty much everything :)
@@grantrobertdavies thank you for your help and fast response, really appreciate. I think I would fog for the G9 with the 12-60 Leica, I think is the better choice 😁 Thanks again 🙌🏻🙏
Grant ..Thank you 👍What is your opinion w/ the following . My M43 are OMS and Limix . My DSLR are Nikon DX D7100 and FX Good old D700 . What is your opinion in matching up Nikon newer DX ( VR ) w/ M43 ? If it’s not counter productive what adapter( Adapter have such a negative v native lens application ) would you advise .Any guidance most appreciated ! Kindest Regards from East Coast of USA
Honestly, I’ve only every adapted canon lenses to m43 (personally) with good results - other than the Autofocus being a bit sticky in situations - From what I hear, the metabone speed boosters provide a more reliable autofocus when adapting lenses. Maybe that’s the one to go for when adapting your Nikon lenses? Thanks again… Grant…
embrace the m43 life and go small. i too was a d700 shooter before my gx9. favs are the 15mm pana-leica, 25mm 1st gen pana-leica (got it for 200$ on ebay), 42.5 f1.7 (so much smaller than the big pana-leica f/1.2, so it saves room for my next fav), oly 70mm f/1.8. getting similiar shots as my d700 + 180mm nikkor AF-D f/2.8 (god i love this lens and would still be using it if i could afford the d780 and didn't care about weight).
I want an AF ultra-wide angle fast prime that is not a fisheye lens. No option yet?is it hard to make, or not practical in photography (wide angle needs zoom?)?
Love that 42.5 for portrait style. Get that Leica/Lumix 15. My favorite. I keep it on the body for day to day use, and change it out when the circumstances call for it.

The original Leica 25mm F1.4 oh boy I love it the way it rendered pictures it’s just awesome
I have 14 lens spanning from Panasonic, Olympus, Rokinon, Sirui, Laowa, Pentax and more. Yes a lot of choice, both MFT and adapting.

At 3:59 you say "On the G9-II - it's a great combo" OMG.
🤣🤣🤣
But it would be nice ...

Awesome :)
Great as always. If anything to complete my my 4/3 lens lineup I would love to get the 12-60mm f2.8-4.0. Maybe someday soon.
Great list

I like the 12mm f/1.4

It’s on my list - but I’ve never used one sorry :)

Hi Grant, Interesting video. Wouldn't it be better idea to get Leica 9mm 1.7 instead of Leica 15mm 1.7?
No, not currently interested in that lens, but maybe one day...
There are over 80 MFT lense!
I want an AF ultra-wide angle fast prime that is not a fisheye lens. No option yet?is it hard to make, or not practical in photography (wide angle needs zoom?)?
Yeah I think The Widest is the Panasonic Leica 9mm f/1.7 :)
@@grantrobertdavies thinking about 7-8mm, or like 6mm Laowa
