    I think you should add Sara Lee bread in your cart to the list of things not to buy. There are a lot of healthy alternatives.

    I'm sorry your husband suffered a stroke! Thank goodness you found plant-based living as I have for health reasons. My lupus is in remission, cholesterol down 60 points and I've lost 45 more pounds in 1 yr. Thank you for sharing all of your amazing recipes and knowledge with us! Your generosity is appreciated and hopefully it can help others on the same Journey💗🌞

    I split the faux sausages in half lengthwise because they're so big. Still great on a bun, half the sodium.

    One of my pet peeves with processed vegan foods is the ubiquitous use of coconut oil. IMHO since it's first marketing ploy of touting it as a health food/healthy fat has been debunked it is still appearing in lots of vegan foods. It seems to me it's replacing soybean/canola oil as a cheap food additive.

      I agree about the coconut oil as well. I avoid it as much as possible.

      It makes it extremely hard to buy any type of processed food for lazy nights. I have high cholesterol, even eating mostly vegan and working out all of my life. Now I have to really watch saturated fats and coconut oil is the worst additive for it.

      @@stacien303 It sure does make it hard to eat more healthily. Coconut oil has MORE saturated fat than butter! 86% vs 52% !!

      I agree! It's so annoying having to check every label because most vegan processed food is still very unhealthy. I get that they want it to taste good so people will be repeat buyers, but some of us refuse to buy the unhealthy stuff at all.

    I love the Field Roast Apple sausages BUT I dice up 1/4 of one into small cubes, and then cook it in with my dishes.
    Only using 1/4 of a sausage the sodium is only around 150mg and you still get the flavor that they bring to the party.
    But yes, very high in sodium and saturated fats in those things. One four pack, since one four pack is 16 dinners that are spread out over a month or two, last me quite some time.
    I am ok with it since I still get 80% or more of my calories from whole plants on most days of the week.
    Nice-cream is the best!

    I went plant-based for my own health (type 2 diabetes and heart issues) and it's been helping so much. I wish my husband would do it with me but he has been trying to eat some plant-based meals sometimes. He still loves meat and dairy, so I worry a lot about his health. I’m still thankful for any changes he makes. 😊
    I also agree with you 100% about not buying all that high fat stuff. Never!

    Cado cado icecream is made with avocados and is much lower in saturated fat . I buy it
    occasionally as a special treat. It is pricy.

    coconut fat has not the same saturation as animal fat, the chain is medium long and so not the really long chain fat, also plants have no trans-fats, that, since long, only occurs in foods from animals

    Moderation is key, even on a vegan diet. My main rule is to only eat foods that add nutrition, but as someone who lives with permanent kidney damage, I must also watch sodium, phosphorous, and potassium levels, phosphorous having the most immediate ill effects of the three. That means that a meat substitute can sometimes be a better choice than just more beans. I am pretty picky about the which, though, trying to avoid ultra-processed ingredients, and resort to these mostly as a way to get in enough protein.

    I really enjoyed this video. It's very hard being a single mom with a kid and a busy schedule to always have healthy meals and not reach for the convenience foods. We still do some nights and it eventually wrecks me. Also same about the ice cream! I used to eat a pint a week and now I only buy it for my daughter. I read once that dairy is just as addictive as heroin and I fully believe that. I went cold turkey and stopped craving it after 2 weeks.

    Had no idea about saturated fat! I just usually avoid dairy free cheese cause they are all slime and awful lmao
    These days i buy it once a month for a fun cheat meal and thats it, but ill definitely have to look into this. Thanks!

    Love your videos! i'm on day 10 plant based. I'll keep it going for as long as it feels right for my body. Your videos are very helpful. this morning i had a banana and a slice of home made vegan pizza left over from last night. then mid morning I had a potato baked in the oven to make fries, two roasted mushrooms and an entire roasted red bell pepper. Plus coffee with vanilla oat creamer. :)

      Way to go! Keep it up! And even if you aren’t perfect, remember that any change towards more plants and less animal products will improve your health in the long run!

    I buy vegan cheese but we only have it once in a while as a treat. I make my own cheese sauce and make by own pesto.

    I tell folks the same thing! Vegan cheese and meats are not healthier. My husband had 4 bypasses…no heart attack. But the man thinks his meds are keeping him healthy. I eat wfpb most of the time and he will eat the meals I prepare but…bologna sandwiches or any lunch meat is his favorite

    I’m making more plant based food, but I’m not a vegan. Certain types of chicken, like Perdue chicken breast, is lower in saturated fat than tofu. It’s equal in calories as well.

      Tofu is lower in sodium. But overall any diet lower in saturated fat will reduce your risk of heart disease. Great job. ❤️❤️❤️

    Thank you about educating people that not all vegan foods are healthy. You do still need to read labels. You refer to the American aheart Association a few times. Please have a look at the organizations that dtive those recommendations. You may not follow them if you knew.

      It’s optional! Not necessary. It’s helpful when clients buy courses and if they don’t show up to group calls I can personally reach out and make sure they are getting the emails (sometimes they go to spam)
